Chocolate Coconut Rum Cupcakes

Ok, so originally this post was going to be vegan chocolate cupcakes…….. But then the coconut rum showed up……..at 10:30 am. (Yeah, people around here are having a good time. All I keep hearing is “I am on vacation……dont judge”) And something in my head just said, put this in a cupcake. Now! Honestly, I […]

Sun-Dried Tomato Hummus

I used to call myself a non-hummus eater. That was until today. When I made my own and fell in love. Like head over heels in love. Ok, so that maybe a little dramatic, but I am running on no sleep and pure adrenaline. And seeing as I probably will not be getting a whole […]

Ciabatta French Toast with Raspberry Preserves

It is the day after Christmas. Which means it is time to clean up the mass amounts of wrapping paper, play with our new toys, eat leftovers and enjoy the time with your family and friends. I am going to keep this post short today since we have 21 people in the house and my brain […]

It is Christmas Eve! The house full, the fridge is stocked, the snow is falling and the frantic running around has begun (umm, actually that has been going on for the last two weeks!). We are prepping dinner, making chex mix, wrapping gifts and constantly snacking! Yes, Snacks. We need lots and lots of snacks! […]

Chocolate Chip Kahlua Cookies

Twenty one. That is our new head count………… for the next eleven days. Eight have arrived. Seven more to go. If you remember last Wednesday I said we would have a total of seventeen people in our house over Christmas. Well that seventeen has now turned into twenty one. So to summarize, that would now be […]

Kahlua Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge

Fudge! Is there really only 4 days till Christmas? I would love to say I am ready, but let’s be honest I have not wrapped one gift. Nor have I made or planned one item on our Christmas menu. Somehow I got myself signed up to make Christmas cookies for like… everyone. Teachers, siblings, UPS […]

Aunt Katie’s White Lasagna

Trust me, my Aunt Katie was an amazing aunt, mom, teacher, friend, and wife. She was actually kind of crazy, but in the best way possible. What came out of this girl’s mouth was down right funny and a good part of the time inappropriate for anyone under the age of 16. Every time a […]

Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Do the math, eight + nine = Yes, seventeen. What is this number you ask? Seventeen is the number of people that will be in our house from Christmas day to January 2nd. That would be 8 days, 17 people, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and one kitchen table that seats 8. It being the holiday’s […]

Peanut Butter Coconut Candies

These happened by mistake. If you follow me on instagram or twitter you know that it is snowing like crazy up here in my little mountain town (seriously, it looks like Whooville around here!), and that we have a huge tree in the middle of our kitchen, and that I was having a rough day in the kitchen on Sunday. I […]

Who does not love a good lasagna? I mean whether you are a meat eater, veggie hater, veggie lover, vegetarian, gluten free or vegan there is probably a lasagna out there for you. This recipe is kind of a weird one, but I promise in a totally good way! I never thought that using creamy polenta […]

Cinnamon Sugar Dutch Baby

Tis the season………. Of sugar and spice (cinnamon to be exact) and everything nice! Apparently I can not get enough of it. How can it already be the middle of December? Christmas is only 9 days away? Seriously, how does it always come around so fast? I did not even realize we entered the 12 […]

  • Brown Butter Pumpkin Fettuccine Alfredo. It's Italian, but with a fall twist. It's creamy, warming, and finished off with salty, crispy pan fried cheese (yes. pan fried cheese. because I always like an extra special touch). So. Good. Recipe on HBH (linked in profile) Make this one soon. What’s your go-to Sunday night dinner? #eatingfortheinsta #f52grams #instayum #pumpkin #pasta
  • Spiced Pecan Apple Cider Doughnut Cake. Because nothing is better than Sunday baking in the fall. This is a new favorite. The key is ripple of sweet maple throughout the center of the cake makes it gooey and so dang good. And then well, butter and apples, and a good amount of cinnamon sugar too. Make this please. It will make your Sunday...and the leftovers are good all week long. Full recipe with details on HBH (link in profile). 🍎🍂
For the batter, beat together:
12 tablespoons soft salted butter
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 large eggs, at room temperature
1/2 cup apple butter
1 cup apple ciderAdd in:
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon kosher saltMix streusel:
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup packed brown sugar

2 honeycrisp apples, chopped
1 cup pecans, roughly choppedMix Maple sauce:
1/3 cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large eggLayer 1/2 the batter, then 3/4 of the streusel, and all of the maple sauce. Cover with the remaining batter, add the remaining streusel. Bake at 375 for 55-60 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes and then invert the cake onto a plate. Brush the with melted butter, then sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Eat warm and enjoy!! #eatingfortheinsta #recipevideo #instayum #applecake
  • October nights require a good cocktail, enter the “Sleepy Hollow” Cocktail. An "eerie" name for a dang good tequila cocktail because I like to have fun with these drinks...but I like to make them GOOD 🎃 made with rosemary, orange infused honey, a good shot of tequila, a splash of pomegranate, some other things, and finished with an extra fancy sugared rim (mostly because it’s fun). Kind of like a margarita, but dressed up for October. Recipe on HBH - linked in profile. PS. I had the HARDEST time name this. What would you call this drink?? Get creative 💀#spookycocktailsaturday #Halloween #hbhcocktailsaturday #tequila
  • It is FREEZING here…think single digits cold! Sooo, I’m making my 3 Cheese Stuffed Shells, because when it’s this cold, you make cheesy pasta. To me this dish is kind of like cheese filled ravioli, but without all the work. These shells are beyond good (the sauce is everything...and it's all made in 1 skillet…easy). The full recipe lives in the new cookbook, HBH Super Simple. BUT I’m going to make the recipe - start to finish - on my stories currently...because we should all be making stuffed pasta shells this weekend. And? If you haven't pre-order the cookbook yet, the link is in my profile. #pasta #f52grams #hbhsupersimple
