Chocolate Coconut Rum Cupcakes

Ok, so originally this post was going to be vegan chocolate cupcakes…….. But then the coconut rum showed up……..at 10:30 am. (Yeah, people around here are having a good time. All I keep hearing is “I am on vacation……dont judge”) And something in my head just said, put this in a cupcake. Now! Honestly, I […]

Sun-Dried Tomato Hummus

I used to call myself a non-hummus eater. That was until today. When I made my own and fell in love. Like head over heels in love. Ok, so that maybe a little dramatic, but I am running on no sleep and pure adrenaline. And seeing as I probably will not be getting a whole […]

Ciabatta French Toast with Raspberry Preserves

It is the day after Christmas. Which means it is time to clean up the mass amounts of wrapping paper, play with our new toys, eat leftovers and enjoy the time with your family and friends. I am going to keep this post short today since we have 21 people in the house and my brain […]

Espresso Glazed Nuts

It is Christmas Eve! The house full, the fridge is stocked, the snow is falling and the frantic running around has begun (umm, actually that has been going on for the last two weeks!). We are prepping dinner, making chex mix, wrapping gifts and constantly snacking! Yes, Snacks. We need lots and lots of snacks! […]

Chocolate Chip Kahlua Cookies

Twenty one. That is our new head count………… for the next eleven days. Eight have arrived. Seven more to go. If you remember last Wednesday I said we would have a total of seventeen people in our house over Christmas. Well that seventeen has now turned into twenty one. So to summarize, that would now be […]

Kahlua Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge

Fudge! Is there really only 4 days till Christmas? I would love to say I am ready, but let’s be honest I have not wrapped one gift. Nor have I made or planned one item on our Christmas menu. Somehow I got myself signed up to make Christmas cookies for like… everyone. Teachers, siblings, UPS […]

Aunt Katie’s White Lasagna

Trust me, my Aunt Katie was an amazing aunt, mom, teacher, friend, and wife. She was actually kind of crazy, but in the best way possible. What came out of this girl’s mouth was down right funny and a good part of the time inappropriate for anyone under the age of 16. Every time a […]

Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Do the math, eight + nine = Yes, seventeen. What is this number you ask? Seventeen is the number of people that will be in our house from Christmas day to January 2nd. That would be 8 days, 17 people, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and one kitchen table that seats 8. It being the holiday’s […]

Peanut Butter Coconut Candies

These happened by mistake. If you follow me on instagram or twitter you know that it is snowing like crazy up here in my little mountain town (seriously, it looks like Whooville around here!), and that we have a huge tree in the middle of our kitchen, and that I was having a rough day in the kitchen on Sunday. I […]

Chorizo and Polenta Lasagna

Who does not love a good lasagna? I mean whether you are a meat eater, veggie hater, veggie lover, vegetarian, gluten free or vegan there is probably a lasagna out there for you. This recipe is kind of a weird one, but I promise in a totally good way! I never thought that using creamy polenta […]

Cinnamon Sugar Dutch Baby

Tis the season………. Of sugar and spice (cinnamon to be exact) and everything nice! Apparently I can not get enough of it. How can it already be the middle of December? Christmas is only 9 days away? Seriously, how does it always come around so fast? I did not even realize we entered the 12 […]

  • Creamy (garlic butter) Sun-Dried Tomato Tuscan Chicken and Orzo...tittle pretty much tells you all you need to know. This is kind of like your favorite Italian chicken and pasta dinner, but all made in one skillet and in under an hour too. It’s creamy, a little garlicky, lemony, and as close to perfect as it gets. Tip? Add crusty bread for scooping up that cream sauce. It’s very good. Recipe up on HBH - linked in profile. #f52grams #easyrecipes
  • Cream Cheese Swirled Chai Gingerbread Cake. It’s that time of year when nothing is better than baking all day long…enter this cake. It’s heavy on the ginger, made buttery with @landolakesktchn Extra Creamy Butter, swirled with cream cheese, just a little decadent, and just about as close to perfect as it gets. It’s generously drizzled with a buttery lemon glaze for a perfectly sweet and spiced gingerbread cake. It’s delicious. Sharing the recipe on HBH today - link in profile.  #sponsored
  • Caramelized Mushroom and Kale Pizza. Monday night is better with pizza. Truth. This is my favorite when the weather is cold. It's simple, but GOOD. Fresh herbs, balsamic mushrooms, kale, and 2 cheeses (because more cheese is always better). Every last bite is delicious. And there is kale...so it's almost like eating a salad. All about that balance. Recipe on HBH - linked in profile.  #f52grams #buzzfeast #imsomartha
  • 30 Minute Coq au Vin Chicken Meatballs. One of best recipes make for these cold December nights. It feels fancy…and cozy, but is ready in less than an hour and is the easiest to put together. The coq au vin sauce is KEY. It’s made with whole lot of red wine and it is loved by everyone…which is why I am making this for the fam over the holidays. Just one thing? Don’t skip the browned butter mashed potatoes. Everything is better with a side of creamy mashers. ENJOY. … … 1 1/4 pounds ground chicken or turkey 1 egg 1/3 cup Panko bread crumbs 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese kosher salt and black pepper 2-3 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped 1 yellow onion, chopped 4 cloves garlic, minced or grated 4 carrots, chopped 2 cups cremini mushrooms, sliced 2 tbs tomato paste 1 1/2 cups dry red wine 1 cup low sodium chicken broth 2 bay leaves 4 thyme sprigs Add the chicken, egg, bread crumbs, parmesan, and a pinch each of salt and pepper to a bowl. Roll into tablespoon-size balls and place on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake at 425 for 15 minutes. Cook the bacon in a large skillet until crisp. Remove the bacon and reserve. If there's excess bacon grease, drain off all but 1 tbs. Add the onion and cook for 5 minutes, until softened. Stir in the garlic, carrots, and mushrooms. Cook another 5 minutes. Add the tomato paste. Add the wine, chicken broth, bay leaves, and thyme. Season with salt and pepper. Bring the sauce to a boil, cook 10 minutes or until the sauce thickens slightly. Stir in the meatballs, cover and cook 5 minutes, until the meatballs are coated in the sauce. Remove the bay leaves and thyme. Stir in a handful of parsley and the bacon. Eat the meatballs and sauce over mashed potatoes. #recipevideo
