Are you ready for the return of Christmas Drink Saturday?!?! After many of you kindly took the time to comment and email me, asking for the return of the holiday drinks, I decided that Christmas Drink Saturday clearly needed to be brought back! This year I’m starting a week early, for two reasons.

Reason one: Thanksgiving is this Thursday and I think it just feels fitting to have a holiday drink for this big holiday too!

Reason two: When I sat down last weekend to plot out my holiday drinks, I was three over my limit. Yes, THREE. So I decided to throw in an extra drink that’s perfect for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Cool, cool! 🙂

To kick things off, I’m starting with one of my favorite drinks of the bunch. This Paloma is all things Holiday…and it’s perfection…fizzy, minty, gingery, full of sweet pomegranate, and um tequila too! Perfect drink to mix up for any holiday party. The simple syrup makes enough for at least four drinks, but can easily be doubled, or tripled, for a large batch of drinks. My special Christmas touch to these drinks though?

GINGER BEER.

It’s not traditional in Palomas, but it’s so much better than using club soda and adds a killer ginger flavor, which to me, just screams the holidays! Of course, if you prefer, you can obviously use club soda or anything with some fizz! Either way, these drinks are going to be delish! Bring on the holiday festivities!

  1. Hello, Tieghan!
Sounds delish! I am making these for our office Christmas party. Do you use red or regular grapefruit juice? Fresh squeezed or from a bottle? Can’t wait to try them. Thanks for sharing! Cheers!

    1. HI! I use regular grapefruits and I fresh squeeze them! Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe. Thanks so much!! xTieghan ?

  2. My family doesn’t drink alcohol, but I would love to try this without it. It looks so good! Do you think it will still taste delicious without it?

    1. Hi Krysti! Yes, I think this will taste amazing without the alcohol! I hope your family loves this and enjoys the holidays!

    2. HI! Yes, this is just as delicious minus the tequila! Just add a touch more ginger beer. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe. Thanks so much and happy Thanksgiving! xTieghan

  3. Making this on Thursday for Thanksgiving! They looked so pretty and festive so I’m dying to try it!

Do you think subbing out the ginger syrup and tequila for ginger vodka would work? I remembered that I have a bottle of local sweet ginger vodka in my freezer and it seemed like it might make a good substitute.

    1. Hi! I have never tried ginger tequila so I am not sure, but if you enjoy it I am sure it will be just fine. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe. Thanks so much and happy Thanksgiving! xTieghan

    1. Hey Gina! The recipe for the pitcher is listed below the single recipe. I would make 1 batch of the syrup. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe. Thanks so much and happy Thanksgiving! xTieghan

  4. Hi – can you use something other than grapefruit juice? My husband has to avoid it due to interaction with medication. Thank you! All of your Palomas look great!!!

    1. Grapefruit juice is the heart of the drink…but really any fruit juice would work. What about pomegranate juice? Please let me know if you have other questions. Hope you love this recipe! Thanks! 🙂

  5. Question for you in regards to the syrup. I made the pomegranate syrup. You stated that you can use that in place of the ginger syrup in this recipe. Do you still need the pomegranate juice? It seems like that might over power the flavor of the syrup.
    Thanks!
    Jen

    1. Hi! You do not need to use the pomegranate juice. Should be great without it. Please let me know if you have other questions. Hope you love this recipe! Happy Holiday’s ? 🙂

Just made two pitchers of this drink for a family holiday event and they were a huge hit! Definitely made the evening feel more special with a festive drink! Delicious!

    1. Yes you can, but do it right before serving so it does not go flat. Please let me know if you have other questions. Hope you love this recipe! Thanks! 🙂

Delicious!!!! I did not have the fabulous glasses and I did not have the time to make the presentation as beautiful as I had planned ( family was ready to sample before I had time.) but this drink was a huge hit. My family is rather cocktail averse but I saw this recipe and it looked to festive to not make it. So glad I made it. Family requested more but I was spent after a day of cooking. Will make two pitchers next time. I’m not one to comment on recipes but this one was exceptional!

  8. Hey there! This looks fabulous. I wonder if you can confirm how much honey goes into the syrup? The recipe says 1/2 honey, but I’m thinking something got deleted. Could you please clarify? Thanks!

      1. What a perfect paloma! Question: my drink is more of a brownish/purple vs. a vibrant purple shown in your photo. I’m assuming it’s due to the simple syrup being rather brown from the honey? I used honey from the farmers market. Any ideas? Thx! 🙂

        1. Hmm, thats really odd. Is your honey really dark in color? are you using pure pomegranate juice? If you honey is super dark that is probably what is giving it the brown color. Please let me know if you have other questions. Thanks! ?

          1. hmm, I think it’s just average colored honey. do you think it would change the taste too much to go with a sugar simple syrup vs. honey? thank you! have a wonderful thanksgiving in Ohio! Xx

  9. We have been enjoying this cocktail almost every weekend since Thanksgiving. Delicious and refreshing. Thanks for such a wonderful libation.

  10. Hey there. Excited to make this but I don’t see the ginger syrup recipe listed anywhere? Can you direct me? Thank you!!

    1. HI! Thank you so much for making me aware of this. I am not sure what happened, but the recipe was deleted. It’s all there now. Let me know if you have questions. Thank you1

    1. Hey Kim! I am sure vodka would be fine in place of the tequila is that is your preferred alcohol. Let me know if you have questions. Thank you!
