Welcome to September! The month when fall officially arrives and the autumn season begins. Below, you’ll find warm breakfasts, salads filled with fall’s best apples, and simple dinners to share with family and friends. And, of course, the desserts! Apple cider doughnuts, maple cookies with sweet chocolate chips, and brownies for game night.
This time last year, I was surrounded by mountains, with pale yellow leaves filling the aspen trees and temperatures dipping lower every night. This year, things couldn’t look more different. My environment has changed—a complete one-eighty. The girl coming to you today is so different from the girl I was a year ago. I’ve grown a lot in a year’s time, and for the better.
With the autumn season, I always feel this sense of a new beginning. A new season and an opportunity to thrive, to be joyful, to spread more cheer than I knew I had inside me, and to share one of my very best gifts: fall recipes.
Fall recipes have always been some of my favorites to create, and I know so many of you look forward to them as well. My Nonnie loved fall too, and I think that makes this time of year even more special to me. She made every day of fall sparkle with seasonal decor, family dinners, and nights snuggled up in their warm home. Of course, we also shopped until we dropped for fall sweaters!
I get so much inspiration from her, and I think my recipes reflect that.
Over the next few months, I’ll be pulling in so many of these reader-favorite recipes while also sharing plenty of new ones. I never want to forget about the classics we all love, but I’m equally excited to bring fresh inspiration into your kitchens this season.
When it comes to cooking in September, I focus on what feels nourishing, warm, and seasonal: big fall salads filled with apples, crockpot dinners, a chili or two, and fresh-baked beer bread. And, of course, apples! Apple butter, apple cider doughnuts, apple cakes, and so many more recipes I’m excited to share.
So here we go Best Recipes to Cook in September. I hope you find a few old favorites and plenty of new ones to make all month long.
Happy September!
