Nine Favorite Things – looking forward to getting back to travel this month

Happy February everyone! I’m feeling excited about this month. We all made it through January, which can feel a little boring after the craziness of the holidays. But with February comes Super Bowl Sunday excitement followed by Valentine’s Day.

Personally, I only ever watch the halftime show – if I watch the Super Bowl. But you know I have fun creating Super Bowl “themed’ recipes, and the same with Valentine’s Day. Both make the month feel just a little more exciting!

I’ve already started banking a few recipes for the month and I cannot wait to share them! I have a couple desserts that I hope everyone will love, plus some fun appetizers and dinners too.

Moving on to travel, I’ve finally got some trips coming up and they’re back-to-back! As someone who never used to embrace travel, I’ve found myself craving it more and more. I think it’s just a nice change of pace for me. I love getting out of my comfort zone, out of the kitchen, and delving into the other areas that I love as well. and it’s been so great getting to share it all with you!

I’m heading back to New York on Thursday for a week and I’m really looking forward to going. Then I’ll be in Miami at the end of the month. I vote for more work in Miami because I can’t wait for some sunshine and warm humid air.

Speaking of warm destinations, Creighton is currently trying to plan the family spring break. He’s throwing out some interesting spots. I vote for anywhere super, super tropical!

Let’s see, let’s see, what else is new? Everyone had a really nice time in Aspen last weekend for the X-Games. Red, unfortunately, landed funny on his second run and hurt his foot so wasn’t able to do as well as he would have liked. Regardless it was a fun little trip. My mom and Asher even got to spend a bit of time together, just the two of them, so that was nice to hear! They did some early evening shopping in the midst of a downfall of snow so the town was quiet and cozy. They capped off their outing with some homemade hot chocolate at the cozy little Bear Den before heading back. When I was Asher’s age, this would have been a dream come true for me. So happy they got time to do it!

Work-wise, it was busy this week. We have a handful of things we’re working on behind the scenes. Plus the team is exploring/brainstorming some website updates to help make the site even more efficient for you all. And I’ve been cooking like crazy and planning ahead for upcoming travel. I ended Friday with a happy call, so that was a great way to end the week!

That’s all for today! Hope you’re having a cozy February weekend – enjoy this week’s favorites!

Nine Favorite Things | halfbakedharvest.com

1. things i’m loving, wanting, and excited to try.

loving…the Skinny Confidential pink balls face massager. Ok, so I was just sent this, but, both Asher and I are obsessed. Not only have I noticed my skin looking less tired after using, but it feels so good! I have never had a face massage, but this pretty pink tool does an incredible job. Asher has been coming down to my house just to use it every morning and night. We love it.

wanting…A Bertazzoni gas range. Have you heard of this brand? They’re new to me, but I love the look of their french style ranges. We’re replacing the ranges in the studio this spring and maybe these should be our new replacements.

everything in my cart (low)…From Zara, I love this hooded padded vest or faux leather puffer vest. Very into vests this season. And anything with a hood, this hooded quilted jacket is a winter staple. It would be really cute over this midi dress or paired with a denim midi skirt and then these leather boots from Mango.

Oh, and you can never go wrong with a basic hoodie. I need lots of them!

If you’re shopping on Mango, their faux shearling-lined jacket is really pretty. Or try their oversized leather trench.

And lastly, affordable cashmere. How wonderful does this cashmere crewneck sweater look? Crazy that it’s only $50! This oversized cashmere blend sweater from H&M is nice too.

listening to…Dorothy Wang of Bling Empire New York on a Career in Reality TV. I wasn’t sure I would enjoy this, but I ended up loving this conversation. Do you watch Bling Empire? After listening to Dorothy, I’m going to start tonight!

ordered…new mugs from Rendy. I ordered their rock mug, tulip, and sand. They’re all prettier and cuter in person. I love them!

dreaming of going to…The 9 Best Wellness Getaways. I’ll happily go anywhere listed here, honestly. These destinations would be great weekend getaways.

loving…Snif Minis. I haven’t ever been the girl who loves perfume, but I gave Asher her first bottle for Christmas. Ever since I’ve been exploring fragrances. I adore the Snif minis for testing out new scents! The bundle pack is great if you’re looking to find “your scent” or just need a travel-size bottle. I love knowing they’re made using all clean ingredients too! My favorite scent is sweet ash for sure.

shopping for…hiking boots. I love that practical winter boots are actually in style this season. I wear these Salmon ACS Pro Advanced shoes for hiking or walking through packed snow. But I’m thinking about ordering these Merrell waterproof hiking boot. They’re perfect for the snow (I’ve had this pair previously). And then, this lace up hiking boot from Ganni is one I would wear as more of a fashion piece. Not really for hiking, but cute!

everything beauty…looking to try two very popular concealers, the Dior forever skin correct full coverage concealer and Armani Beauty luminous silk face and under-eye concealer. The Kosas revealer concealer is wonderful too! Also, Kosas, I’m excited to try their new glow I.V. vitamin-infused skin illuminating enhancer. I read amazing reviews on this enhancer. It’s basically concealer and foundation in one with skincare benefits too.

And for the lips, the Lawless forget the filler lip-plumping tinted lip balm.

Ok and now, some new hair products too. The Sunday Riley, clarifying scalp serum is in my Sephora cart (I read amazing reviews).

following…The Style Stalker. For the best street-style inspiration.

shopping…Fancy Sprinkles. These are so fun! I love the rose gold edible glitter for Valentine’s Day treats!

watching…Pamela a Love Story on Netflix. Have you watched yet? This might sound odd, but I grew up watching and loving Baywatch. I was such a weird kid, but obsessed with the show. Obviously, CJ was my favorite, so I’m curious to watch this. I know her life story is craziness. I also just finished listening to her Armchair Expert interview.

wanting…this striker match holder. Not needed, but cute.

everything in my cart (high)…this wool fedora from Janessa Leone is the prettiest. I love the dark green color and style. From Saint Laurent, this silk maxi skirt is stunning. So beautiful. It comes in black too. It would be cute to pair with this embellished ribbed-knit cardigan from Jacquemus. Or how pretty is this Saint Laurent, TENCEL lyocell and wool-blend maxi dress. I would wear it with these heels.

And then from The Row, their azar dress in virgin wool and silk is simple and stunning. I’m obsessed with the Geo Margaux 15 leather bag. Oh, and this sheer ruffle detail silk chiffon slipdress from Fendi too.

Lastly, watches. This Cartier santos-dumont 18-karat rose gold and alligator watch is stunning. But you can never go wrong with the Tiffany’s Atlas 2-hand watch.

listening to…the HBH Valentine’s Day Spotify playlist. McKenzie put this together for the month of February! It’s full of date night and girl’s night songs.

shopping…the THEA table lamp from the Zio & Sons’s Mitzi Lighting collection.

drinking…big batch spicy margaritas. Should I share a new recipe before the Super Bowl?

4. Favorite questions of the week.

q: which sibling do you get along with the best?
a: I would say we all get along the same. We’re at good ages now that we can all just hang and we don’t really get into fights. Or nothing serious anyway. But Asher and I share something super special being the 2 girls with 6 brothers.

q: any fun trips planned for 2023?
a: Nothing crazy new, I’m hoping a fun trip pops up soon! Definitely would love to visit Paris and I need a tropical trip for March or April. I think this is a year for travel for me!

q: what do you think about diets, keto, intermittent fasting, etc.?
a: I’m not into diets of any kind. I’m more about eating real food with very minimal ingredients, lots of fruit, lots of vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains, and homemade when possible. And no added sugars. But balance is important. I do believe you have to let yourself have the slice of greasy pizza too. I think diets can get you into trouble. But that’s just me. You do you!

q: what do you do to feel happy when you are really sad?
a: Anything that makes me feel cozy. I love sitting on floor (I know, weird, but I’d sit on the floor over the couch if I had the choice) bundled in a blanket with a candle burning. It’s like hiding from the world for a bit 🤷🏻‍♀️

q: do you cook a different meal every night?
a: Not every single night, but yes most nights. Repeats include tacos, buffalo chicken, pasta alla vodka, beer bread, gumbo, ramen (but I never make it the same way twice), and chicken fried rice.

q: what material are your kitchen counters? What do you recommend?
a: The studio kitchen has a quartzite countertop island and then the black counters in the back are black soapstone. I have white marble counters at home. The studio’s counters are great. The black does show marks because it’s matte and we did not have it honed (sealed) because I love the matte look. The quartzite counters stain a little but the stain usually goes away after a few days. I’d recommend both for a kitchen! My marble counters at home definitely stain but I don’t mind it or stress on it anymore.

q: why aren’t you on the Food Network?
a: I get this question every time…not really something that’s in my full control but honestly I don’t think it’s a fit for me anyway

  1. Teighan,
Just LOVE the cognac colored boots you are wearing in intro/top of this week’s face things. What brand are those? Or did I miss the link for them?
    Thanks,
    Anna

  2. I love your recipes and own 2 of your cookbooks.
I hear all of the criticism regarding your posts including high end fashion and decor items and recommendations for hotel rooms that are $1500-3000USD per night. I have no interest in these items since they are well beyond my reach. But will I continue to read these posts and follow you on Instagram? Absolutely! I love your recipes and I always choose to prepare one or more of your dishes when entertaining since they are ALWAYS big hits. For all those readers offering their negative opinions, unfollow or skip the parts of these posts that you are not interested in. Stop complaining!

    1. Hey Joanne,
Happy Monday and thanks for reading! So glad you continue to enjoy these posts and appreciate you making so many recipes! Hope you’re off to a great week and thanks again! xT

  3. Tieghan…I am close to your mom’s age. This morning as I read your post and then perused comments I was so ashamed. Ashamed that people of all ages could post such ugly words. There are hundreds upon hundreds of food/cooking blogs. If folks do not find yours appealing they should wish for you the best and move on. There is no place for such rude and let’s be honest jealous comments. I think it is wonderful that you find joy in many things. As a retired foods and nutrition instructor I am amazed at your creativity and energy. Keep believing in yourself…know that the most important thing is that you are a precious child of God and he sings over you. Best advice I was ever given…those who are ugly, unkind and jealous lift them in prayer that their heart may be softened. I love food…cooking and I love interiors as well as fashion. I think you are just the cutest. Your worth comes from your heavenly father not the words of jealous followers. Be A Light!!
    Janie

    1. Hi Janie,
Thank you so much for reading and your thoughtful message today:) I appreciate you bring here and make so many recipes! Thanks for sharing your advice, I think this is so true! Hope you’re having a great week! xT

  4. In the past, I really enjoyed reading this site but lately it leaves a lot to desire. I agree that the high end items are out of my reach. The photos outside and inside your house are enjoyed the most along with pictures of your family. I would like to see more recipes using fresh vegetables instead of all these sauces and spices covering everything…..most recipes look the same in color. Please consider the comments written or I will be one of readers that will unsubscribe.

    1. Ouch, Linda! This is someone’s creative space, you take what you want and pass over what you don’t want. And if you don’t want any of it, you can quietly move along.

    2. There isn’t only high end items there is always a mix. Tiegan’s followers are all different. If something isn’t in your price pount then just skip it instead of being so critical.

  5. Check out Hoka for hiking boots. Incredibly comfortable, water proof/mud proof and decent price point. Golden Goose for casual and fun sneakers. High end but you wont be disappointed!

  6. If you can’t say something nice keep it to yourself. I personally enjoy everything Teighan has to share. It is for fun! It for dreaming. Have a great day everyone!

  7. I appreciate you taking the time to put these posts together but I find the high-end items really off putting. No one can afford those and they’re frankly out of place in a food blog. I wish you would do some research to understand your audience.

    1. Some of us CAN afford high end items. Sorry if you can’t. I love seeing the high end items, She has wonderful taste.

      1. I also CAN afford high end items, thank you. But I don’t imagine you really get your YSL etc inspo here on a food blog of all places, do you?

    2. Shes gone over this before….its not for everyone but there are tons of people (like myself) who love looking at higher end items to see what’s trending! She has amazing taste and that extends past food! Don’t look if you don’t enjoy!

  8. The Moab 3 are seriously the best hiking boots. I am on my second pair in the last 8 years and I use them all the time. They are not totally waterproof but pretty much which I don’t mind. Just use darntough socks and you should be good to go. Happy hiking!

I would love to travel to any of those wellness destinations myself. The northeast has been freezing these last few days. Spring is almost here!

  9. I absolutely love how you structure this to include something for everyone! I know it must take you a lot of time to do this and I always appreciate it. Thank you for putting a tremendous amount of effort in to sharing your delicious recipes and also a bit about you!

  10. Did you forget to update the “favorite questions” part? They are the same as the past few weeks (months tbh). And I agree with Tina.

  11. Agree with Tina. It appears you are trying to Make this blog like Goop. Someone who would follow Gweneth Paltrow may be looking for a 10K watch suggestions but really not in line with a Food Blog. The high end travel suggestions are also unrealistic for most of your audience.

  12. The sheer number of (affiliate linked) recommended items over $1k is insane to me. Do you really not know your audience? This is a FOOD blog. Hardly a place to promote $10k Cartier watches

    1. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
      Ephesians 4:29

      1. Unfollow then, there is no place here for nasty comments. Some people can afford it some can’t. She puts a variety of items here. It’s her blog and she gets to do what she wants. Start your own blog if you want something else! There’s room for all but don’t bring your unkind attitude here. If we tried to life others up and support a true bad ass female entrepreneur, instead of tearing her down this world would be much more tolerable.

      2. I love how you shared a Bible verse. If more people read that maybe there wouldn’t be so many negative comments! It’s like people just enjoy being critical, idk why there’s a need to comment these things. Just say things that are uplifting! Anyways, prayers for everyone in these comments, hopefully you find Jesus and show more love! ❤️ Tieghan, I’m sorry you are so critiqued. You seem so sweet and you are a hard worker!

Anyone who feels the need to be rude please consider this verse, write it down, it’s a great reminder for everyone! 😊

        1. Hey LoveTacos,

That’s super cool that you think bible verses are great and people should find Jesus to be better. There’s a problem, though. There is more than one religion in the world and not all of those religions believe in Jesus.
