Nine Favorite Things | halfbakedharvest.com

Hey, hi and happy Sunday everyone! We are now one week into August, how’s it going thus far? This past week, while it was busy, was great…there are exciting things in the works. Plus the week was capped off with a fun segment on The TODAY Show. We’ve also got pretty summer weather, flowers, and peaches…just a few of my favorite things.

Everything work-wise is starting to pick up with fun projects and even a very special launch coming this fall. On the flip side, everything online is feeling a little slow these days. I’m hoping it’s because everyone is out enjoying the last full month of summer. I know many of you are packing up your bags and heading out on family road trips or camping weekends, which sounds amazing! My brother Malachi is actually camping this weekend in Morro Bay, which is right outside San Luis Obispo. It looks beautiful! See his photos below…

Pretty, right? I’m only just a bit jealous. But the good news is that here at home we’ve hit that time in August when our weather finally turns from a possible thunderstorm rolling through in the afternoon, to days full of sunshine and warm upper seventy-degree temperatures. It’s absolutely perfect. The next two months are my favorite time of year here in Colorado. We’ll have summer for a couple more weeks but come late August our weather starts to turn cool at night. The leaves start to change, and fall slowly creeps in. I can’t say I’m ready for fall, but it will forever be my favorite season, so I’m excited. And as I mentioned, we have a really fun launch to share very soon! Actually, we have two launches happening very soon. We also have a special family wedding back home in Cleveland in September too!

Kind of feeling like a kid in a candy store. Just overly excited!

Question: How about you guys? What’s keeping you smiling these days? Anything you’re looking forward to in the next couple of weeks?

And lastly, I recorded the Food Blogger Pro podcast a few weeks back and my episode is now live. You can listen here if you’re curious.

Coming up this week on HBH, we’ll be starting the week with another skillet dinner that might just involve those summer peaches. Then I’m thinking I may share a chocolatey sweet treat…or maybe a fun appetizer? What’s your pick? Then we’ll move on to a simple summer pasta, a fun and easy salad, and of course, we’ll be ending the week with something sweet. Lots of deliciousness!

Question: would anyone be excited if I shared a S’more recipe? But S’mores with a twist?

1. Things i’m loving, wanting, and excited to try…

watching…Kendall Jenner’s AD house tour. I am in awe of her house. It’s so unique, calming, and I love the neutral tones.

excited to shop…that Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I’ve been adding to my wishlist and am eying all the cozy fall knits.

ordered and love…these vintage teacups, this vintage pie server, and these pretty ceramic bowls (perfect for pasta!).

baking up…my cinnamon sugar peach upside down cake. On repeat.

loving…my dahlias from Flourish Flower Farm in Asheville North Carolina.

loving…Zara Home. Thinking about these towels. Love these plates and ordering this flora napkin.

excited to try…these probiotics. I have heard so many great things about taking probiotics. Do you take them?

re-ordering…this candle and this candle. They are cozy, but summery. Perfect for a late summer day.

loving…PEACHES. Especially the incredible peaches I received from The Peach Truck and Frog Hollow Farms.

wanting…these chunky Prada boots, but ordering these affordable (almost Identical) boots instead.

thinking about ordering…this Fendi bag that is 80% off. But do you like the white or the black? Fun Fact? I have my grandma’s love for designer bags. I don’t own any, but I still love them.

in need of…your music suggestions. I am horrible with music. How do I learn what I like? Where do I start? Send tips!

3. New for the kitchen…

4. favorite questions of the week…

q: Do you use different skillets for savory versus sweet dishes?
a: I probably should, but no I don’t. I just grab whichever skillet is clean.

q: If you didn’t cook for a living, what would you do?
a: I’d be in fashion or interior design. I always said I wanted to be a fashion stylist growing up. Making things “pretty” has been something I’ve loved for as long as I can remember. I used to put outfits together or rearrange rooms for fun. Now I put all that creativity into food. I’m very visual and as I said, I love making everything pretty and visually appealing. So either fashion or interior design!

q: What is your solution to wanting to cook delicious meals, but also having a tight schedule?
a: The HBH Super Simple cookbook. I shared so many quick and easy recipes in this cookbook. It’s perfect for anyone with a tight schedule. Another tip is to spend some time prepping food on your days off. There’s so much that can be done beforehand (like washing and chopping produce or cooking grains) to make weeknights super simple. And keep your pantry and freezer stocked with everything you need to create your favorite easy recipes quickly. You’d be surprised how much you can do with pantry staples.

q: What brand is your gold flatware?
a: It’s from Anthropologie. It’s back in stock now but sells out really fast.

  1. Hey Tieghan! I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to comment/write you but I love your blog and posts and own both your cookbooks. I wanted to pass along a great candle that myself and my friends love! It’s by Brick and Mortar and it’s the Moss candle. I would highly recommend it! Kind of fun they also come with specific playlists that match music with the mood and scent of the candle. Since you’re looking for new music you might like that!

    1. Aw thank you so much for sharing!! I am going to check it out now! Also, so glad you have been loving my blog and books!! I hope you continue to! xTieghan

  2. I look forward to your appetizer recipe! I also would love to see your twist on a s’more! Nothing says summer like s’mores, so might as well end summer with a good recipe, right? Love this time of year, Love Zara Home and Love some of the items from Chip and Joanna’s new line! With all this sitting at home I’m looking for some inspiration to spruce things up a bit. How do you have time to do all the things you do!? Don’t stop. I thoroughly enjoy your nine favorite things and all of your recipes!

    1. Haha you are so sweet! Thank you so much for sharing, Tricia!! I hope you continue to love these posts! xTieghan

  3. Hi Tieghan! I love your weekly Nine Favorite Things and look forward to them each week. I’d love a fabulous S’Mores recipe with a twist. We are building a new home with a fire pit and I have decided that gourmet S’Mores are going to be my thing when people come over. I’d love to see your creative twist on them! Your blog and Instagram provide me with great inspiration and have me cooking more. I’ve got both of your cookbooks and they are awesome! Thank you for all you do!

    1. Aw I am so glad you have been loving my nine favorite things, Ann! Thank you so much! I hope you continue to love these and the books!! YES! xTieghan

  4. Great post, yes please share your s’mores recipes. I love the boots you bought; go with the white bag and try streaming your local college /university radio station. I stream WERS, Emerson College in Boston. I also stream WMVY a radio station on Martha’s Vineyard. They both play music I’ve never heard before. It’s a little different from the same old “classics” or alternative rock . I’m making your corn, tomato and avacado pasta salad tonight – can’t wait ! Enjoy the rest of your summer.

  5. Loved the list of favorite things this week… thanks for putting it all together. Especially loving some of those summer dresses. I specifically wanted to comment today because I noticed you changed your cover photo and I think it’s perfect! You look so relaxed and even though I don’t really *know* you it looks more like you. Through your videos I feel like I’m in the kitchen with my best friend sharing a fun day hanging out together. The new photo represents that to me. Just knowing this list comes out every Sunday helps me start the week off on the right foot. Thanks for everything you share!

  6. If you’re looking to discover what music you like, try Sirius XM. I just got a subscription because I’m addicted to channel 33, First Wave, but you can pretty much find any kind of music. Just pick one and see if you like it, lol. Good luck!!

  7. I love your photos and the food looks amazing! I too am waiting for fall which is my favorite time of year on Long Island, NY (September through November are awesome here). I would love to see a twist on a s’mores recipe! Hope you are well and thank you for these lovely posts/recipes, they are delicious.

    1. Hi Randi! Right now, most of it goes to my family and neighbors! I have a huge family and a ton of family friends that come to visit, so most of it gets eaten by them. Otherwise, we share it all and try to donate what we can! So no waste ? xTieghan

  8. This week I made the Creamy Cajun chicken Lazone. I served it over rice. It was amazing. Then forwarded the recipe to a friend and her husband made it as well to rave reviews. You are a gifted cook. Thank you so much for all the delicious recipes and for all the thought and effort that goes into your weekly nine favourite things.

    1. Thank you so much Diane!! I am so glad this turned out so well for you! I hope you continue to love my recipes! xTieghan

  9. Too soon for fall!!!!! Our summer was late to get here – more rain than we’ve ever had – then blazing hot for two weeks and now cooler than it should be. 2020 I’ve had enough! I like to be in the season I’m in and not wish away the time. They each have their own beauty and joy and I try to just be present in them. Summer is my favourite though!

I’m a huge music nerd but would need a tiny bit of help from you to get started. What kind of music do you like, broadly speaking? Pop, country, etc. Or… when do you want to listen to music and what mood do you want to feel? Do you want to be high energy and sing along? Something quiet to create a zen mood in the background while you work?

    1. Hey Leanne,
Totally agree about fall! It comes around much faster here than the rest of the country. As for music, I am open to anything! I just feel the need to switch it up since I am in the kitchen daily. Thanks! xTieghan
