Thanks for joining me for another Nine Favorite Things post.

Nine Favorite Things | halfbakedharvest.com

With the first full week of October now tucked behind us, I am in full on fall mode. I’m craving all things warm and cozy, and of course, everything pumpkin spice. Typical of me? Yes, for sure, but I love autumn so much…I know, I sound like a broken record. Sorry not sorry.

I spent every day this week cooking in the kitchen. The first half of the week was spent testing new recipes, working on some holiday content, and getting ready to film new recipes videos on Thursday and Friday. I have to say, after a month plus off from filming and creating new video content, I’m really looking forward to sharing brand new videos with you guys! We filmed some recipes that I’m really loving this fall. Hoping you’ll be loving them too!

That said, it was a long week and I’m thankful to be not cooking in the kitchen today. Instead I’ll be brainstorming and writing, while snuggled in blankets (because it has suddenly turned very cold here). Hoping to do a little work and then take the night off to just chill and refresh before another busy (but fun) week ahead.

I am so excited to see that you guys have been enjoying my Halloween content. As I mentioned yesterday, I LOVE creating these fun holiday themed recipes. It’s a way for me to be extra creative with both the recipes and the photos, and I thrive on that kind of creativity. Hence, plenty more holiday content coming your way over the next few months!

Coming up this week on HBH, I’ll be sharing a new autumn ravioli you’re sure to love, the coziest drink…that just happens to be easy and healthy, the perfect slow cooker recipe for any day of the week, extra sweet and chocolate filled cookies, and rounding out the week with yet another “spooky” cocktail. Can’t wait to share all the new recipes soon!

Lastly, if you missed anything from this past week, be sure to sign up for our newsletter here. Hope you’re all having the best fall weekend, and enjoy this Sunday’s Favorites!

1. What I am Baking Today…

Fall Sundays are for meant baking, and these Apple Cinnamon Rolls with Chai Frosting from a couple of years ago are on my to-do list this morning. These are a favorite fall breakfast, and so delicious on cold mornings spent at home by the fire.

Have you guys made these cinnamon rolls?

2. Don’t Take NO for an Answer.

I’m sure you’ve heard this one before, but don’t accept no as an answer. When someone tells me no, it literally lights a fire inside me and gives me the fuel I need to figure out a way to get a YES. I’m very persistent in that way, I’ve just never excepted the word no. If I want something bad enough, there’s got to be a way. I’ll make it happen.

Persistence is key. Never give up on something you really want. If you want it bad enough, if you believe in something so wholeheartedly, you can make it happen. And when I say you, I do mean YOU. Because you have to care enough to keep trying. Don’t let people who tell you no, stop you from finding your way.

Just a little Sunday motivation for you! Hope this inspires you to be persistent.

4. NYC Hotel Suggestions.

I’m heading back to NYC later this month, and then again in November. I’m looking for a new hotel to stay at, only for the simple reason that I’m loving exploring the city. So far I’ve stayed at The Soho Grand, 11 Howard, and the New York Edition and really enjoyed them all. Not going to lie, when it comes to hotels, I like them to be pretty nice, very clean, and feel like a home away from home. I don’t love traveling, but staying in a nice hotel always makes it a bit easier for me. Thus, I would be so appreciative for any recommendations.

Let me know your favorites!

  1. Stuffed sweet potatoes and apple chai cinnamon rolls sound GLORIOUS right now. But I really felt the most compelled by the segment pertaining to not taking “No” for an answer. You have to know when to assert your desires when you need them, especially if the other person owes you. We all need to earn what we deserve!

  2. We love staying at the Ace Hotel when in nyc. It’s close to the first shake shack & eatly. The hotel restaurant is April broomfield’s Breslin, the east coasts only stump town coffee and now black seed bagels too. Rates are reasonable too. Have fun!

  3. Aran, I think you’ve misunderstood what Tieghan is saying. She’s talking about pursuing your dreams and goals and not letting others dissuade you from doing what you want to do. It did not sound like a political statement, in any way. (I tried using the ‘reply’ link under Aran’s comment, but for some reason, it’s not working).

  4. You’ve done it again. I look forward to Sunday morning with my morning cup of coffee and going through your latest nine favorite things. It never disappoints. I made the sweet potato gnocchi the other night and it was truly amazing. I’ve tried other recipes and they all turned out like hockey pucks. So at last–a good one. Thanks so much for all your hard work.Although I now reside in Kauai I love all the autumn photos. Fall was always one of my favorite seasons.

    1. I am so happy to hear that! Thank you so much Linda! And I am so glad you are loving my nine favorite things!

  5. The Bowery Hotel has a gorgeous, lush, bohemian vibe that you would probably really love. The guest rooms have incredible hand-scraped dark wood floors; rich, neutral, natural fibers for bedding and seating, and lots of natural light and clean lines that are not at all spartan in feeling. Corner rooms yield expansive views of the city. It’s my go-to hotel for a special occasion stay.

  6. Look, I love your blog a lot. I’ve been reading it almost daily since 2013 I believe?
But wow, that “dont take no for an answer”…It can induce some dangerous behaviour on other people– I’m sure you didn’t mean it in that way, but maybe considering the political climate right now….maybe it was not the best idea to share it Right Now. Or maybe, there would have been better ways to word it, I don’t know. Personally, it gave me an astoundishly uneasy feeling.

    1. Hi Aran! I am sorry this statement made you feel this way, but that is not at all what I meant. I meant that if I fail, I will not give up, I will keep trying my hardest. This statement has nothing to do with what is currently going on in politics, and I apologize it felt that way. I hope you understand and continue to enjoy my blog!

  7. I love your round ups so much! Re: hotels if you are willing to consider Brooklyn, The Hoxton in Williamsburg is fun and very cool. I stayed at the original Hoxton in London and loved the cool, unfussy vibe and the great food in the restaurants.

  8. Love, love the NoMo SoHo! The bar area has this massive chandelier with greenery and exposed brick that’s absolutely stunning. Such a lovely spot.

  9. If you are looking to stay in the financial district, check out The Assemblage Hotel https://www.theassemblagehotel.com. The rooms are large with living space, a kitchenette and very comfortable beds. There are a few floors for socializing or working that are really unique. Their daily programs includes yoga and meditation, various workshops, a Tea Ceremony room, a rooftop, an elixir bar and daily Ayurvedic breakfasts and lunches. We stayed there last weekend and were very impressed!

  10. I love your beautiful recipes but I can’t help helping your grammar.
In Point #2, you use the word Except when you should use Accept. as in: “but don’t except no” as an answer. And “I’ve just never excepted the word no…” You expect someone to arrive and you accept the accolades. If I am not clear, you can look it up.
Meanwhile, keep on doing your great cooking and posting!

  11. When I’m in NYC I usually stay at The Roger Hotel or Affinities Hotel. They are both in midtown. Good luck on your trip!!

  12. The Nomad hotel is awesome. The nomad bar/restaurant also has amazing food and cocktails, they have a specific lounge area called the library that is exclusive for hotel guests, it’s a great place to either get work done or just enjoy a beverage and delicious snack. I also really love the lidlow hotel because of the fun location. Right by the famous Katz deli and Russ and daughters cafe/bagel shop.
