Nine Favorite Things – looking forward to getting back to travel this month

Happy February everyone! I’m feeling excited about this month. We all made it through January, which can feel a little boring after the craziness of the holidays. But with February comes Super Bowl Sunday excitement followed by Valentine’s Day.

Personally, I only ever watch the halftime show – if I watch the Super Bowl. But you know I have fun creating Super Bowl “themed’ recipes, and the same with Valentine’s Day. Both make the month feel just a little more exciting!

I’ve already started banking a few recipes for the month and I cannot wait to share them! I have a couple desserts that I hope everyone will love, plus some fun appetizers and dinners too.

Moving on to travel, I’ve finally got some trips coming up and they’re back-to-back! As someone who never used to embrace travel, I’ve found myself craving it more and more. I think it’s just a nice change of pace for me. I love getting out of my comfort zone, out of the kitchen, and delving into the other areas that I love as well. and it’s been so great getting to share it all with you!

I’m heading back to New York on Thursday for a week and I’m really looking forward to going. Then I’ll be in Miami at the end of the month. I vote for more work in Miami because I can’t wait for some sunshine and warm humid air.

Speaking of warm destinations, Creighton is currently trying to plan the family spring break. He’s throwing out some interesting spots. I vote for anywhere super, super tropical!

Let’s see, let’s see, what else is new? Everyone had a really nice time in Aspen last weekend for the X-Games. Red, unfortunately, landed funny on his second run and hurt his foot so wasn’t able to do as well as he would have liked. Regardless it was a fun little trip. My mom and Asher even got to spend a bit of time together, just the two of them, so that was nice to hear! They did some early evening shopping in the midst of a downfall of snow so the town was quiet and cozy. They capped off their outing with some homemade hot chocolate at the cozy little Bear Den before heading back. When I was Asher’s age, this would have been a dream come true for me. So happy they got time to do it!

Work-wise, it was busy this week. We have a handful of things we’re working on behind the scenes. Plus the team is exploring/brainstorming some website updates to help make the site even more efficient for you all. And I’ve been cooking like crazy and planning ahead for upcoming travel. I ended Friday with a happy call, so that was a great way to end the week!

That’s all for today! Hope you’re having a cozy February weekend – enjoy this week’s favorites!

Nine Favorite Things | halfbakedharvest.com

1. things i’m loving, wanting, and excited to try.

loving…the Skinny Confidential pink balls face massager. Ok, so I was just sent this, but, both Asher and I are obsessed. Not only have I noticed my skin looking less tired after using, but it feels so good! I have never had a face massage, but this pretty pink tool does an incredible job. Asher has been coming down to my house just to use it every morning and night. We love it.

wanting…A Bertazzoni gas range. Have you heard of this brand? They’re new to me, but I love the look of their french style ranges. We’re replacing the ranges in the studio this spring and maybe these should be our new replacements.

everything in my cart (low)…From Zara, I love this hooded padded vest or faux leather puffer vest. Very into vests this season. And anything with a hood, this hooded quilted jacket is a winter staple. It would be really cute over this midi dress or paired with a denim midi skirt and then these leather boots from Mango.

Oh, and you can never go wrong with a basic hoodie. I need lots of them!

If you’re shopping on Mango, their faux shearling-lined jacket is really pretty. Or try their oversized leather trench.

And lastly, affordable cashmere. How wonderful does this cashmere crewneck sweater look? Crazy that it’s only $50! This oversized cashmere blend sweater from H&M is nice too.

listening to…Dorothy Wang of Bling Empire New York on a Career in Reality TV. I wasn’t sure I would enjoy this, but I ended up loving this conversation. Do you watch Bling Empire? After listening to Dorothy, I’m going to start tonight!

ordered…new mugs from Rendy. I ordered their rock mug, tulip, and sand. They’re all prettier and cuter in person. I love them!

dreaming of going to…The 9 Best Wellness Getaways. I’ll happily go anywhere listed here, honestly. These destinations would be great weekend getaways.

loving…Snif Minis. I haven’t ever been the girl who loves perfume, but I gave Asher her first bottle for Christmas. Ever since I’ve been exploring fragrances. I adore the Snif minis for testing out new scents! The bundle pack is great if you’re looking to find “your scent” or just need a travel-size bottle. I love knowing they’re made using all clean ingredients too! My favorite scent is sweet ash for sure.

shopping for…hiking boots. I love that practical winter boots are actually in style this season. I wear these Salmon ACS Pro Advanced shoes for hiking or walking through packed snow. But I’m thinking about ordering these Merrell waterproof hiking boot. They’re perfect for the snow (I’ve had this pair previously). And then, this lace up hiking boot from Ganni is one I would wear as more of a fashion piece. Not really for hiking, but cute!

everything beauty…looking to try two very popular concealers, the Dior forever skin correct full coverage concealer and Armani Beauty luminous silk face and under-eye concealer. The Kosas revealer concealer is wonderful too! Also, Kosas, I’m excited to try their new glow I.V. vitamin-infused skin illuminating enhancer. I read amazing reviews on this enhancer. It’s basically concealer and foundation in one with skincare benefits too.

And for the lips, the Lawless forget the filler lip-plumping tinted lip balm.

Ok and now, some new hair products too. The Sunday Riley, clarifying scalp serum is in my Sephora cart (I read amazing reviews).

following…The Style Stalker. For the best street-style inspiration.

shopping…Fancy Sprinkles. These are so fun! I love the rose gold edible glitter for Valentine’s Day treats!

watching…Pamela a Love Story on Netflix. Have you watched yet? This might sound odd, but I grew up watching and loving Baywatch. I was such a weird kid, but obsessed with the show. Obviously, CJ was my favorite, so I’m curious to watch this. I know her life story is craziness. I also just finished listening to her Armchair Expert interview.

wanting…this striker match holder. Not needed, but cute.

everything in my cart (high)…this wool fedora from Janessa Leone is the prettiest. I love the dark green color and style. From Saint Laurent, this silk maxi skirt is stunning. So beautiful. It comes in black too. It would be cute to pair with this embellished ribbed-knit cardigan from Jacquemus. Or how pretty is this Saint Laurent, TENCEL lyocell and wool-blend maxi dress. I would wear it with these heels.

And then from The Row, their azar dress in virgin wool and silk is simple and stunning. I’m obsessed with the Geo Margaux 15 leather bag. Oh, and this sheer ruffle detail silk chiffon slipdress from Fendi too.

Lastly, watches. This Cartier santos-dumont 18-karat rose gold and alligator watch is stunning. But you can never go wrong with the Tiffany’s Atlas 2-hand watch.

listening to…the HBH Valentine’s Day Spotify playlist. McKenzie put this together for the month of February! It’s full of date night and girl’s night songs.

shopping…the THEA table lamp from the Zio & Sons’s Mitzi Lighting collection.

drinking…big batch spicy margaritas. Should I share a new recipe before the Super Bowl?

4. Favorite questions of the week.

q: which sibling do you get along with the best?
a: I would say we all get along the same. We’re at good ages now that we can all just hang and we don’t really get into fights. Or nothing serious anyway. But Asher and I share something super special being the 2 girls with 6 brothers.

q: any fun trips planned for 2023?
a: Nothing crazy new, I’m hoping a fun trip pops up soon! Definitely would love to visit Paris and I need a tropical trip for March or April. I think this is a year for travel for me!

q: what do you think about diets, keto, intermittent fasting, etc.?
a: I’m not into diets of any kind. I’m more about eating real food with very minimal ingredients, lots of fruit, lots of vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains, and homemade when possible. And no added sugars. But balance is important. I do believe you have to let yourself have the slice of greasy pizza too. I think diets can get you into trouble. But that’s just me. You do you!

q: what do you do to feel happy when you are really sad?
a: Anything that makes me feel cozy. I love sitting on floor (I know, weird, but I’d sit on the floor over the couch if I had the choice) bundled in a blanket with a candle burning. It’s like hiding from the world for a bit 🤷🏻‍♀️

q: do you cook a different meal every night?
a: Not every single night, but yes most nights. Repeats include tacos, buffalo chicken, pasta alla vodka, beer bread, gumbo, ramen (but I never make it the same way twice), and chicken fried rice.

q: what material are your kitchen counters? What do you recommend?
a: The studio kitchen has a quartzite countertop island and then the black counters in the back are black soapstone. I have white marble counters at home. The studio’s counters are great. The black does show marks because it’s matte and we did not have it honed (sealed) because I love the matte look. The quartzite counters stain a little but the stain usually goes away after a few days. I’d recommend both for a kitchen! My marble counters at home definitely stain but I don’t mind it or stress on it anymore.

q: why aren’t you on the Food Network?
a: I get this question every time…not really something that’s in my full control but honestly I don’t think it’s a fit for me anyway

  1. These posts are always so fun! Just had to say–a few Nine Favorite Things posts ago, your mom mentioned that she does two 3-minute planks every day. Well, that motivated me to do the same, and let me tell you, your mom is on to something! My core is getting stronger every day. I’ll put on the last three minutes of a song I love as I hold the pose. It’s tough, but it pays off–and it only takes 6 minutes! Thanks Tieghan’s mom!

    1. Hey Gabby,
Happy Tuesday, thanks so much for reading!! That’s so awesome you started to do the planks and are noticing a difference!! I’ll have to let my mom know:) Have a great week! xT

  2. I love that outfit you’re wearing in the picture. Who do you want to win the Super Bowl? I’m betting on the chiefs. I made your banana peanut butter chocolate muffins a week ago, and they were so good! So moist and sweet. I agree with the diets and all that, I went on one a while back and lost too much weight and felt sick. Spot on! Can I just say that you’re so cool and one of the best food bloggers out there? I’m so grateful for you and your talent. The haters in your comments don’t know what they’re talking about; you’re amazing! Thanks for being you and inspiring me every day to cook and bake! Abigail

    1. Hi Abigail,
Thanks so much for reading and your kind message! Lol I honestly have no idea who is even playing, I’ll just tune in for the halftime show….and maybe some commercials:) Thanks for trying the muffins, so glad they were enjoyed! Awe, you really are so nice:) Thanks for following along! xT

  3. In my previous home I had a Bertazzoni 5 burner gas range with electric oven. While I loved the range (and cooked and looked beautiful), the oven seemed to burn the top of everything. Partway through baking I’d have to lay aluminim foil on the rack above or over whatever I was baking. I have since moved near the coast in Maine with a house outfitted with (gasp) electric and I could only get propane for gas which is very expensive. I now have a Bosch induction with electric oven and although induction has been a learning curve, I love it. I had to get rid of some pots/pans, but pretty much anything magnetic, cast iron and cast iron enamel still work great on it. It also makes you really decide what pots and pans you really need. It also has a speed boost feature which boils water in no time!

    1. Hey Linda,
Happy Monday! Thanks so much for reading and sharing your feedback on your past oven, this is super helpful:) Good to know about your Bosch too, it’s such a big decision to make!! Will keep you posted on my decision:) xT

  4. Tieghan,

I love your Sunday posts. Like many others, I enjoy all the variety—recipes, fashion, interior designs, beauty products, etc. Please don’t change a thing. I look forward to the day when you are actually at those posh hotels and wearing the high end clothes and documenting all of it for us to enjoy vicariously. God bless you!

    1. Hey Michele,
Happy Monday! Thanks so much for reading each Sunday and your kind feedback:) So glad you enjoy the posts as much as I do! xT

  5. Love Merrell boots and your Sunday recaps! I look forward to them every weekend. Also, didn’t you say you were going to be on the skinny confidential podcast? Do you know when it is going to air? I keep looking for it!

    1. Hey Lindsey,
Thanks for reading!! Good to know about the Merrell boots:) I’ll keep you posted on the podcast, not sure on that just yet! Happy Monday! xT

  6. Please can we have some upcoming gluten free recipes? Especially with baked goods/breads, or options on recipes that can be adjusted to suit gluten free. Just been diagnosed coeliac & feel like I’m starting afresh with recipes! Thanks

    1. Check out the Iowa Girl Eats website. She’s a food blogger who has celiac disease. I’ve tried many of her recipes. Haven’t had a bad one yet!

  7. Please get an induction cooktop instead of a new gas range! Better cooking experience, even heat distribution, easier to clean, and soooo much better for the environment. Buying another gas range bakes in 20+ years of carbon emissions. If you’re skeptical, there are plenty of incredible chefs who are shouting from the rooftops about how much they love their induction stoves. Thanks for all you do! 🙂

    1. Hey T,
Happy Monday! Thanks for reading and sharing your feedback on the induction cooktop. I appreciate all of the info! xT

  8. The playlist is absolutely lovely. Nine favourite things is a Sunday morning go to for me. I love all the various links and ideas. I do follow you mainly for the recipes but really enjoy all the other content you put in this blog. Great job to you and your team! 🙂

    1. Hey Joyce,
Thanks so much for your kind message and reading each Sunday! I love putting together this post for Sundays, it’s a nice change up from all of the food content:) Have a great week! xT

  9. I’m mostly here for the recipes (have made many), and I’m pretty much too old for the fashion and makeup links, but they are fun (for me) to look at anyway. Even so, the recipes alone are worth the reading, and love seeing your pictures of your home, family, renovation and vacations! Have bookmarked a few places where you’ve traveled – maybe not to stay at the same hotels or houses (we have no huge family to accommodate!) but some of the areas look amazing. So keep ignoring the naysayers, don’t let ’em get you down!

The only request I would send your way, in the most friendly way possible, is to add some more color to your wardrobe. I completely understand wearing neutrals, but you could carry off a lot of different colors beautifully!

    1. Hey Deborah,
Thanks so much for reading each Sunday and sharing all that you enjoy within the posts:) Lol yes, totally get where you are coming from with the color, I do like to add a pop here and there if I can! Have a great Monday! xT

  10. I have a Bertazonni induction range/Convection oven and absolutely live it. Please consider getting an induction top because they are super efficient and it eliminates the gas pollution/fumes in your home and environment. I promise they work much better than gas!
Looking into getting a dishwasher from their new line.
    Enjoy your emails and recipes!💜

    1. Hey Lisa,
Happy Monday and thanks for reading! Glad to hear you have been enjoying your Bertazonni induction range! Will keep you posted on what I pick:) xT

  11. I just wanted to pop in and say that I read 9 Favorite Things weekly with Sunday coffee. I enjoy it so much!!

Do I go through everything and look at all the high-end? Nope, but it doesn’t bother me at all! I can scan through and delve further into the sections that I relate to! I love that you tailor your weekly posts in such a way that so many people can find what they like in it! Heck, you totally introduced me to Necessaire, Snif, Chamberlain coffee, Rishi tea (this was posted about just a couple of weeks ago). I never would have sought those companies out on my own and I absolutely love all of them! I’ll forever be hooked on Necessaire and Snif!

Plus the recipes – ALWAYS a hit in our house!

Pass over those negative comments. Keep doing you!!

Hope your week is filled with joy!

    1. Hey Lindsay,
Thanks so much for reading each Sunday, I am so glad you enjoy the posts!! Lol glad you are able to scroll and view what you like and skip through the things that don’t interest you:) Thanks for your kind message and being here! xT
