I officially bow down to these pretzels.

I didn’t really think a simple chocolate covered pretzel could get any better, because to me, the simple combo of salted pretzels and sweet chocolate will forever win in my book. BUT, then these pretzels happened and they changed my world.

I only added three extra ingredients, but oh my gosh. I can’t even explain how amazing these are. Like so good, so addicting and SO easy! I figured since Thanksgiving is less than a week away (oh my gosh, oh my gosh, someone send me a personal elf to help me with all the holiday prep!!) that we needed a super quick and easy dessert/snack that’s guaranteed to be a hit with everyone.

To me that just screams “chocolate covered pretzels…with extra salt!”. Up until now, I’ve never thought to put chocolate covered pretzels on the blog, I just felt like everyone already knows how to make them. I mean, I think even my brothers know how to take a pretzel and dip it in chocolate. Well, that could definitely be a stretch for Red. The kid has plenty of skills on a snowboard, but put him in the kitchen and he’s LOST. Put him in front of school books and um… he’s still lost.

For sure.

I do have full confidence though that even he could master the art of the chocolate covered pretzels with a little direction.

I think.

ANYWAY, my point is that until now I never thought to do a post about chocolate covered pretzels. Then I had the idea of chocolate covered cinnamon sugar pretzels and that made me think. Like, hmm, maybe that’s worth posting?

So I did what I do when I don’t know what to do. I asked mom, I asked Abby (my cousin) and I asked Maggie (also my cousin). All three answers came back almost identical, “that sounds yummy!! I don’t think I would have ever thought to add cinnamon sugar. You have to make those, they will be so good!”. So that pretty much settled it for me.

I was totally making chocolate covered cinnamon sugar pretzels.

So here is what I did, it’s pretty dang simple.

***One: melt some butter.

***Two: add a bag of pretzels to a super large bowl, you can use your favorite size/shape, any pretzel works!

***Three: pour the melted butter all over the pretzels.

***Four: add a little sugar and a lot of cinnamon…aka the good stuff.

***Five: toss it all together.

***Six: bake until toasted, golden perfection.

***Seven: dip (and dip generously) with melted chocolate (milk or dark).

***Eight: sprinkle with flaky salt. <–DO IT.

***Nine: EAT.

Pretty simple right?!? I am giving you fair warning though, these pretzels are addicting. Stopping at just one is nearly impossible. But it’s cool cause, “Tis the Season”, it’s the one time of the year when eating everything and anything is totally acceptable.

Hehe. I love it!

Ok but really, probably, no most definitely, you need to make these ASAP. There are several options here, you could make these as a hostess gift for the holidays, pack them up and ship them as gifts, or um, just devour them all yourself. <–That would be me, since these do not even have a chance when they are within reach.

Seriously, these Chocolate Covered Cinnamon Sugar Pretzels make the BEST gifts. They are so easy and durable, which is obviously a HUGE bonus when shipping things or even when just transporting them from one house to another. PLUS, there’s no frosting, so that means no mess.

You see what I did here? I created the ultimate holiday gift, plus a simple, addicting, delicious dessert. Cool!

In my opinion though, you should just keep these all to yourself. Don’t worry, it’ll be our little secret.

P.S. Make sure you guys check back tomorrow for a special Saturday post! I have something fun planned!

  1. I’ve had my eye on these since you first posted! I made them today to go with plates that I’m making up for family coming on Christmas Eve. Of course, I had to taste-test, and they are EXCELLENT! One thing…the instructions mention combining the butter, pretzels and cinnamon-sugar. The photos look like the pretzels may be dipped in butter and THEN sprinkled with the sugar mixture. In any case, they were delish! I used dark chocolate discs from that cake supply company….worked great. I wanted to drizzle with addt’l white chocolate but just don’t have the time (next time!). I’m sure they’ll love them as much as I do! 🙂 Thanks Tieghan, for all of your great recipes and posts! I really enjoy them! Blessings to you and yours for Christmas, and a happy and healthy new year!

  2. These are delicious!!! So easy to make, but I think what Donna was asking is these a design on your pretzels? Its as if you dipped and then swirled some chocolate on them.

  3. Hi-The pretzels are in the oven and now I suddenly have a question!! Can I use chic chips melted? Or must it be chocolate baking bars? Anyone help please?

      1. The chocolate chips did work great, thank you. These were fun to make and super fun to eat. A new favorite, especially when I need to make something quick. Thank you.

  4. Making these tomorrow!! But I have a wuestion – did you do some sort of design with the twine?? The pretzels look like it but I culdn’t see ay referene to it (but I may have missed it!)

  5. These are fabulous. At first I thought the sprinkled on salt would be too much but it’s perfect! They’re easy, beautiful and yummy!! We made 2 batches and I’m loving this for hostess gifts this holiday season. Thanks for this fun recipe!

  6. I would never in a million years thought of slathering store bought pretzels with butter and cinnamon sugar! And then chocolate on top! What a genius idea Tieghan. They look delicious! 🙂

  7. Oh my goodness, these look dangerously delicious! I’m not sure I could keep these pretzels in the house without inhaling them all! 🙂

  8. How do you get the milk chocolate so thin? I used Ghirardelli and it melted nicely, but I would have liked it to be just a bit thinner. I used a whole bag for half the pretzels?

  9. Talk about one seeeriously addicting, sweet & salty snack! Love it, Tieghan! I’m anxiously awaiting the Special Saturday post 🙂

  10. Cinnamon sugar and chocolate is totally the way to go. In fact, I think it is always the way to go no questions asked.

  11. Tieghan, these are the prettiest pretzels I’ve ever seen 🙂 Your photography is more gorgeous every time I visit.

    1. Wow, Jennifer! Thank you so much for these kind words, it means a lot!! 🙂
Hope you have a great weekend! Tieghan!

    1. hah! I actually just pour the chocolate into a sandwich size ziplock bag and snip off a tinny piece of the corner of the bag and then drizzle it that way. Let me know if you have questions.
