Nine Favorite Things

Only one week away from you all, and we have so much to share! We didn’t do a Favorite’s post last week since it was Easter Sunday. I hope you all had a nice holiday with your families, whether you celebrate or not.

We’re back at it after the busiest week that threw me a serious curve ball. If you read the last favorite’s post, I shared that I was traveling to New York this week to shoot a big project. Well, I did just that. I was so excited for this shoot and we’ve been preparing for it for weeks. It was something new and so different for me, but I was SURE it was going to work out and be amazing.

But you know what, sometimes things just aren’t meant to be. After the first day of the shoot, I knew that in order to get this project done to the standards I hold myself to, I needed to pivot. The shoot just wasn’t flowing the way it needed to, and my photos didn’t look the same. My work just wasn’t “my work”. I knew in my gut that as much as I wanted to make this work, I needed to do this shoot from home, in my space. So here I am, unexpectedly back at home.

While I’m disappointed, I knew I had to pivot and adjust. Things don’t always work out the way we planned. At the time, you may not understand why. But hopefully, down the road you’ll understand why things happened the way they did.

I’m keeping my head up and working like a crazy girl, but I’m happy with my decision. I know it’s what needed to be done!

I do still have a little bit of fun travel ahead. I’m heading to LA this week for the launch of our menu collaboration with Fig Restaurant in Santa Monica. I’m so excited! It’s going to be a packed few days.

Oh, and I’m looking forward to some warm weather, too!

After LA I’m home for a couple of days and then back to NYC for a few days. Everyone in the family is all over the place. My mom, dad, Creighton, Asher, and Oslo are in San Miguel, Mexico, which they say is amazingly beautiful. Then they’re off to visit my grandpa in the Caribbean.

How about you all? Are you traveling this month? Staying put? What’s something that makes you the happiest right now?

I hope you all are having the best start to April! Spring is here, and I’m so happy it is! Enjoy another fun favorite post! I have lots to share below.

1. Things I’m loving, wanting, and excited to try.

random, but fun…Quiz: What Should Your Next Mani Be? I got stormy grey, which I kind of love. So that’s my next nail color for sure.

everything in my cart (low)…ordering this quilted jacket from Zara. Plus, this white sleeveless mini dress, red mini dress, flowy top (cute color), and heeled toe sandals. So cute for spring!

Ok, and some workout pieces, because it’s spring and time to get back outside. Loving how cute this Alo set is. I’m ordering the iconic 90s bra and these capri pants. Also, this Beyond Yoga racerback cropped tank I found on Amazon is super cute.

listening to…Kelly LeVeque, Clinical Nutritionist: Optimizing Protein For Women, Blood Sugar Balance, Post Ozempic Maintenance, & More. I know Kelly personally and she is a wealth of knowledge. I loved this episode and found it to be so valuable if you’re interested in upping your nutrition.

dreaming of going…Harbour Island, Bahamas. Need to stay at the Rosalita House. Maybe in May. You all, I need a tropical vacation!

reading…How to Dry Dahlia’s – so cute. Dahlias are probably my favorite flower.

shopping…these cute ink pens and vintage coupe glasses on Amazon.

watching…Inside Gisele Bündchen’s New Miami Home—And See Her Most Prized Possessions. Ok, so pretty! I need to live in Miami!

travel…Where to See 2024’s Magnificent Total Solar Eclipse. Check out the locations around the US. Shout out to all my family in Cleveland, you all are in a great spot to view the eclipse! So is my family, who are currently in Mexico – so cool!

everything in my cart (beauty)…the Yves Saint Laurent libre eau de parfum sounds wonderful for spring. I want to start wearing perfume more often.

Very curious to try the Tenoverten celery oil for your nails. It’s supposed to lock in moisture, which is exactly what I need.

I love these big effing claw clips for travel days. It’s so easy to just throw your hair up before a flight. They come in so many fun colors and patterns. Another must for travel are the Slip small scrunchies. I’ve been using them a lot recently to hold my braids in place.

If you’re going on spring break, you need these body self-tan drops from Tan Luxe and + Lux Unfiltered Nº12 bronzing face drops. And the Dior lip glow balm is currently on sale. I would highly recommend getting one of these too.

And if you love a “get ready with me” video, I thought this was cute, How Millie Bobby Brown Gets Ready for Date Night.

I want to watch…Palm Royale. Is anyone watching this? I’m so curious about it, but we don’t have Apple TV!

everything in my cart (high)…for all the brides to be, this Staud beaded tule mini dress would be so pretty for a wedding shower, rehearsal dinner, or even a more casual wedding.

shopping…new arrivals on Zara Home.

5. What Are Your Family’s Go-To Dinners?

This is such a fun question and I’m so curious to hear your responses. My family’s go-to dinners are as follows…

Growing up, my dad would make potato chip chicken at least once a week—ah, actually more like twice a week—always with a side of rice. Of course, there were also his classic crispy beef tacos and his beloved Friday Night Pasta dish.

These days, I make a lot of pasta alla vodka, buffalo chicken, and crispy tacos. Creighton requests stuffed peppers (I have several) and my chili with beer bread often too. These are the family’s GO-TO dinners.

Your turn!

What dinners do you make all the time, what are your staple recipes?

  1. I thought you had mentioned previously that you use your I-phone for photography. But, it looks like a high end camera is being used in the food photos shown above. So, what is being used in the photos you post?

    1. Hey PJ,
As I have always said, photos on the website are shot with a dSLR camera and my IG stories are all completed with my iPhone:) I hope this clears things up for you! Have a great week! xT

  2. I right you were going to Mexico with the family? How come you never travel with them? You’d probably learn a lot about different cultural dishes and get some inspiration. There’s more to Mexican food than Anchiladas!

    1. Hey Sofia,
Thanks for your comment. The month of April is jammed packed for me, so there was just no way that I could swing going to Mexico with them, and that’s okay:) Have a great Sunday! xx

  3. Sometimes the universe is against our hearts. That’s ok. It just means there is something better. Kudos to you for making a tough decision and listening to the universe.

    1. Hi Cristen,
I love this perspective:) Thank you so much for sharing and reading today! Have a great Sunday! xT

  4. Great pics of Asher! I look forward to your Sunday posts. So much fun to read. Your recipes are outstanding too! Thank you!

    1. Thanks so much for reading each week, Ellen:) I think you mean the photos of Oslo? He’s the best!! Hope you are having a great Sunday! xT

  5. What about all the people behind the scenes on your ny photo shoot? I assume a lot of hard work was put in by a lot of people to make it happen? Lights, camera, props, space to shoot in. Were those people affected by your pivot? I hope not too much time, money or resources were wasted! But at least you got a night at foquets even if the work trip was a bust!

  6. Good morning Tieghan, I so hope that you enjoyed a little reprieve over the holiday weekend!! P.S. If you’re able to share the deets on your new black travel bag, I’m sure we’d all love to know! It looks super chic!

  7. Tieghan,

I loved seeing your travel go to’s – could you expand more on your packing system?
Would love to learn more about that as I always think I could do a better job.
And sometimes things work out just as they are supposed to and you can learn more
from the pivot than the actual thing you were supposed to be doing!
    You are inspiring!

    1. Hey Susan,
Thanks a lot for reading today:) Yes! So when I pack, I use this clothing rack: https://rstyle.me/+BsgP5WJcTGICkmM4iFRYcA
I find it is super helpful to have each outfit planned out for the trip, hanging, and the shoes I am going to wear with each outfit.
This is my favorite suitcase: https://shopstyle.it/l/bY8JY
There’s plenty of room and different compartments that I like to use. I hope this helps!

Thanks for your positivity about my photoshoot this week:) Have the best Sunday! xT

  8. Been following you for years and I really look forward to this newsletter! Thank you for sharing! 🙂

    1. Hi Shannon,
Thanks so much for reading each Sunday, it really means so much to me:) I hope you have the best week! xT

  9. Nice pivot, Tieghan! That’s a difficult thing. Love the collaboration with Fig! Continued success and hoping you get vacation time.

    1. Thanks for the positive feedback, Linda! It definitely was a difficult decision, but the right one to make:) Thanks for reading today and have a great Sunday! xT

  10. Do not waste your time with watching Palm Royale. I only watched the first episode and found it too silly. I would highly recommend “The New Look”. This is the story about Christian Dior. It is fabulous but it is also on Apple TV.

    1. Hey Sydney,
Thanks so much for reading today and sharing your feedback on Palm Royale. I’ll add The New Look to my watch list, thanks for sharing! Have a great Sunday! xT

  11. Two things: the coconut cake is amazing! And – what are you wearing in the travel nights photo? It looks SO cozy!

    1. Hey Amy,
Thanks so much for trying the coconut cake, it’s a good one:) I love to travel in Eterne loungewear, it’s super comfy! Have a great Sunday! xT

  12. Tieghan,
I’m an amateur travel photographer and cook. I think you don’t need to travel all the way to NYC to do a photo shoot when from what I see you do an excellent job at home. You’ll save a ton of time and expense by staying home. Perhaps have a pro come to you and give you tips and help where you think you need it and give you some fresh ideas.
I love the cutting board in your photo shoot from home, now that’s a well used and vintage item. The pictures you post are well done and you have some of the best scenery around you in the country, take advantage of that and at the end of the day you are at home in a place of serenity.
All the best to you and your family.

    1. Hey Jim,
Thanks so much for reading today and sharing your thoughts regarding the photoshoot. This one is quite a large project that I was hoping to complete in NYC for various reasons, but ultimately finishing the work at home was the best decision for me:) Have a great Sunday! xT

  13. Wow that resturant Fig looks like one I wish was near me. Brilliant idea doing menu with your food. I always thought a resturant could do well by adoping your recipes. Will have to tell my nieces about it who live in that general area.

    1. Hey Frances,
Thanks for reading today! Thank you for your kind message, it’s a super fun and exciting opportunity. Let me know if your nieces go to Fig Restaurant to try the dishes:) Happy Sunday! xT
