Nine Favorite Things | halfbakedharvest.com

It has been the snowiest, coldest week! It’s so pretty outside right now, our weather has been nonstop snow for the last week. It started very early Sunday morning, stopped for a second on Tuesday, then continued through the week. It’s feeling wintery and cozy, which has left me wanting to make soups, slow-cooked meats, and bake. The recipes I create are so reflective of my surroundings, the seasons, and my mood on any given day.

Expect a few cozy recipes this week, for sure. I’m so excited about the dishes I’ve been creating for you all! Is there anything you’re looking for to help you through these wintery weeks? I always love hearing your ideas too!

I tried my best to have a very “balanced” week. Something I want to work more on this year is giving myself a little more time. And by that, what I mostly mean is more sleep. I had a few good and bad days, but hopefully, as I continue to break my old habits, the new habits will stick. Slow progress is better than no progress.

I knew being home this month would be so great. I’ve been able to focus on that lingering project. Now that it’s almost completed, I finally feel excited about it. I’ll be able to share more details soon!

As I mentioned before, I enjoyed my brothers’ company so much while they were here last week. I wish they were around more. This week was filled to the brim with cooking, writing, and digging myself out of so much snow. I’ve been stuck cleaning the kitchen solo this week, as my parents are out of town. But I made it more enjoyable by listening to a new podcast each night. I’m sharing some favorites that really left me with amazing takeaways below.

This week I’m looking forward to my last full week at home before travel starts back up again! LA, New York, and then if I can make it happen, Miami, for some sunshine. So far, that’s all that’s planned. Are you traveling in the coming months? I would love to hear about your dream destinations!

I think that’s it for today. Some of the family is heading to Aspen for X Games, I might take a day and head there too. Playing it by ear!

Have a lovely Sunday! Enjoy another Favorite’s post!

Nine Favorite Things | halfbakedharvest.com

1. Things i’m loving, wanting, and excited to try.

loving…my Higher Dose sauna blanket. I use this every single night. I love to sink into it while I edit and post Instagram stories. These blankets help to reduce stress and anxiety, relieve muscle pain, and have a multitude of other health benefits too. The bundles are all on sale this week!

wanting…sateen sheets. I’ve been seeing so many sateen sheets lately, and I’m very interested in trying a new brand, Lola & Veranda. Their sheets come in a 7-piece bundle crafted from 100% GOTS organic cotton. They sound and look so comfy. I’m also looking into these Coyuchi organic sateen-sheets too. Both have incredible reviews.

everything in my cart (low)…loving both this leather biker jacket and relaxed double face jacket from Zara. Totally different styles but both are cozy for winter.

From Mango, I think the Agur Roll Edge Sleeveless Top is nice for winter layering.

been sipping…bone broth. I continue to hear more and more about the incredible benefits of drinking and cooking with bone broth. It’s said to be one of the healthiest foods you can consume. For increased protein, I’ve been drinking a steaming cup every single morning. Right now, I’m drinking Kettle & Fire Regenerative Bone Broth, but I just ordered some from Fond to try too. I will let you know how it is!

burning…the new Snif Big Flirt candle!! So excited about this. With notes of wild strawberries, chocolate, vanilla milk, and champagne. The Valentine’s Day dessert candle.

Nette Candles. I love this brand. They have so many wonderful candles for all the season. I love, the Chai Milk Scented Candle, Pearl Dust Scented Candle, Sunday Chess Scented Candle, and Another Life Scented Candle. I ordered the Gallica Rose Scented Candle because it’s sounds wonderful and is cute for February.

Boy Smells is having a huge after-holiday sale. I ordered a few holiday favorites, their Broken Rosary Candle, Spiritous Candle, and Incensorial Magnum Candle.

And for more Valentine’s Day fun, the Fleurshadow Scented Candle (also from Boy Smells). And I haven’t ordered this yet, but the Valentine’s Baies & Roses Duo Candle Set from Diptyque is sitting in my cart. I’m a sucker for any kind of holiday-themed candle, and these are cute!

ordered…Paleovalley. I learned of this company after listening to Autumn Smith, the Founder & CEO of Paleovalley, speak on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her podcast. I found so much value in the episode and am looking forward to trying their beef sticks and bone broth.

dreaming of going to…Badrutt’s Palace Hotel in St. Moritz, Switzerland. With views of both Lake St. Moritz and the charming village, this hotel looks straight out of a Hallmark movie. I am here for it.

ordered…new notebooks. I use one for writing out recipes, and another for my daily to-dos. I ordered this set of 3 notebooks for recipes. Then, this journal to encourage me to write out my gratitude list and maybe even begin to journal my days. And then, Golden Coil carries my favorite spiral-bound notebooks. I always get the leather or linen covers. What’s your favorite notebook? How about pens too?! I really want to order some fun pens!

loving…45 Valentine’s Day Nail Art Ideas That You’ll Fall in Love With. Such cute styles for February. I’m not someone who ever does pink nails, but these are so sweet!

shopping…cute dishcloths. If you’re putting together any gift packages for Valentine’s Day this year, add these dishcloths in red to your package. So cute.

wanting…to spend more time in Palm Beach. We used to go once or twice a year when my grandparents lived in the area. Since they moved, we have not been back. It’s my favorite place. Dreaming of more time in Palm Beach and this BEAUTIFUL villa designed by Jacques Grange. The dining table is so pretty.

everything in my cart (beauty)…some new to me ARMANI Beauty products I want to try. Their A-Highlight Luminizer look so pretty from the photo. And I really want the Liquid Blush too.

OK, now some lip stains, which I am seeing everywhere. Curious to try the pretty NU Lip & Cheek Tint Balm from Yves Saint Laurent. The Tinted Love Lip & Cheek Tint from the queen of beauty, Charlotte Tilbury. And, of course, you need the Victoria Beckham Bitten Lip Tint; this color is stunning (I now own it). And lastly, for a good clean beauty option, the RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek.

Thinking of splurging on the new Prada beauty line? Every product is so pretty, but is the product good? I need to find out, so I’m thinking of ordering Augmented Skin The Cleanser and Makeup Remover, the Revitalizing Refillable Face and Eye Serum, and Augmented Skin The Smoothing Face Cream.

watching…Mean Girls. Or at least the trailer for it. Are you going to go see it? If you do, let us all know what you think! Not sure anything can really live up to the original!

wanting…new jewelry. I love jewelry but rarely wear it. I pulled some timeless pieces to consider below!

everything in my cart (high)…this new Loewe cropped shearling-trimmed leather jacket is such a splurge, but it’s a coat you’ll wear forever. It will never go out of style. The same goes for The Row double-breasted wool-blend coat (immediately added to my cart). And I’m in love with the Khaite The Connie Blazer in Black Leather. Lastly, how cozy is this oversized belted faux fur coat? I’m very into it.

I love the new The Row Idaho Tote Bag. It’s timeless and I really want it.

following…Kelly Rutherford. For extremely stylish photos.

shopping…the new Summer Fridays dream lip oil. Wow, these look so pretty!! I want all the shades. Thinking about getting the complete dream set. Ordering now.

loving…this sweet farmhouse just outside of Bath. What a cute home with incredible vintage pieces throughout. I especially love the kitchen.

6. What’s Your Best (and Worst) Career Advice?

best: this comes mainly from my dad, but I always say this too. Work harder than everyone else, be the kindest in the room, be enthusiastic, and remember that quality and good work always win in the end. It may be a slow and steady process, but you’ll come out on top.

worst: I’m not sure I have had “bad advice”, but I’ve been pushed into directions that were not a fit for me. The lesson learned is to trust my gut and not listen too closely to what everyone else thinks. YOU KNOW BEST.

  1. Hi Tieghan

I love your blog Nine Favorite Things, your books and content in general! I made your No Knead Bread with spelt wholemeal flour and it came out great. I’m going to try the all purpose flour option in the original recipe next to get a lighter, fluffier texture. Thanks so much for such an easy and delicious bread recipe! 🙂

  2. Hi Tieghan,

Thanks for another great Sunday Nine Favorite Things. There’s always so much great content something for everyone who reads. I really enjoyed the informative link you posted about the cookware. I’ve bought so many different sets over the years claiming to be the best or non stick and the coating always comes off. Nothing has seemed to last . What do you use for your cooking and recommend?? I recently bought an All Clad Sautee pan and it seems really nice. Last week, I made your Greek Chicken with Tahini Feta sauce it was so good thanks for sharing! Where did you get that dish that you served it in and photographed as well?? I tried to show a picture of it a kitchenware store and they had no clue what it was. Nothing they showed me came even close to what you used. When it comes to podcasts I don’t listen to very many. Here is a very inspiring one with some good conversations you might like. Do you subscribe or pay for your podcasts or they all free?? Here’s a couple links for you lmk what you think or if you decide to listen to any of them. The first link is from Shannon Watts I got to meet her last year at an Advocacy Day she’s the founder of Mom’s Demand Action. It was quite the inspiration getting to meet her. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/firestarters-with-shannon-watts/id1721969812 The second link i for what they call a Substack its a place to access all your favorite writings, discussions, chats with authors and podcasts you can subscribe to if you so choose. I’d love to see if you find content that’s interesting I hope so. Thanks again for all the great content and recipes. You are such an inspiration to follow.

  3. Can you recommend a good base layer? I’ve been looking for one, maybe a soft cotton, something buttery soft, fitted but not tight, to go under my sweaters. My skin is so sensitive and I love sweaters but they can be itchy at times and I have butchered many tops trying to get rid of tags.

  4. Hey Tieghan! I love how highly you speak of your brothers! All of that quality time at the holidays must have been amazing.

It seems like you have such a fun relationship with Creighton. With that being said, I’m not sure how I feel about constantly making fun of his clothes! I know that I’m usually in lounge wear around the house, especially in winter.

The next time you tease him, maybe you can also show your followers what you’re wearing? What type of lounge wear do you wear day-to-day? Is it that much nicer than C’s clothes? I’m so curious lol

    1. Agree, the whole make fun of Creighton schtick is getting old. His clothes are very normal, that is how most guys I know dress, especially when hanging at home. Sweatpants, sweatshirt, crocs, sunglasses?? Nothing weird there.

  5. Adore this blog. I did see the new Mean Girls and it was awesome if you love musicals. I too adore Palm Beach and would love to go some day. Enjoy the snow!!

  6. Your snow is so beautiful.

The house you link to in Palm Beach, the table is gorgeous, as is that bath – wow!

No travel plans, except I do want to go and see the sea sometime soon. 🙂xx

  7. We have some fun road trips planned — southern Arkansas in the spring, North Shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota in the summer, and Michigan in the fall. I don’t fly anymore due to health issues. My husband is flying to Florida in late February for his biannual men’s trip.

I just received some lovely candles from Natural Sloth, a husband and wife owned business in Texas. Their candles are made with beeswax, clean ingredients, and are Made Safe certified. https://naturalsloth.com/

We have 20” of snow on the ground, and it’s been very cold where I live. I’m beyond ready for spring!

Thanks for another great NFT! Have a fabulous week!

    1. Thank you so much for leaving a comment Terri! Enjoy all of your trips this year! And wow, 20 inches of snow is crazy! Hope you’re staying warm and cozy! xT

    1. Aw thanks! It is super pretty here in the winter, but the snow stays a little too long for my liking sometimes haha! Definitely have a lot to be grateful for though! 🙂 xT

  8. Bone broth….have you tried to make your own? It’s not hard and is a great use for leftover chicken or beef bones and veggie scraps.

  9. I have trips planned to Death Valley and Nantucket. Can’t wait!

You should post some “get ready with me” videos when you get all your new products in. Would be fun to see and informative!

Didn’t you do a magazine shoot a while back? Have you shared about that yet? Maybe I missed it!

    1. Thank you so much for reading Liz! Hope you have an awesome time in both Death Valley and Nantucket, those will be awesome trips! xT

      1. Lol is the magazine topic off limits? I could’ve sworn it was you, but maybe it was a different blogger I follow?

  10. I have upcoming travel planned to Colombia, Brazil, and Denmark!

It’s interesting to hear you write that you’re dreaming of visiting a hotel in Switzerland. Wasn’t your family just there? Or am I getting winter destinations confused? That would have been a perfect opportunity to make your dream a reality haha

When you think about your dream travel destinations do you usually think of the hotel first? What other parts about traveling to Switzerland interest you? Food? Culture? Skiing? Would love to hear more about how you decide on dream destinations.

    1. Wow, sounds like you have a year full of exciting trips! Yes, my family was just there but I wasn’t able to go with them! 🙂 xT

  11. Great soup recipes this week !!

Will try a few for dinner this week.
Currently in Miami Beach soaking up some sun and beautiful weather ☀️🌴
Headed home soon back to cold and snowy conditions !!

Have a great week and thanks for all the yummy recipes ❤️

  12. Happy Sunday! Your pomegranate vinegrette recipe is on repeat-the salad is totally flexible! Vacation spots: Sarasota for Orioles Spring Training-we stay at the Ritz Carleton & it’s a few days of luxury.
In June we are traveling to Norway, Sweden & Denmark. I’ve been fascinated by the Vikings for a long time-not the stereotypical “bloody warriors” but the social structure where women were equal partners. So Norway was high on the list of count ríes to visit & I’m very excited.
Finally, thanks for the podcast recommendations. I will be retiring for the 2nd time at the end of June this year. I am digging deep into promoting my art so some of the advice provided is helpful. Thank you for all you do!

    1. Happy Sunday! Thank you so much Dale! Wow, that sounds like such a fun trip that you’ll be heading out on! Have the best time! xT
