Thanks for joining me for another Nine Favorite Things post.

Nine Favorite Things |

(our newest little edition)

Welcome to the 150th edition of Nine Favorite Things. Not sure how I’ve written so many of these over the last few years, but I love writing them now more than ever…though they now take me much longer to put together than they ever did in the past. When I first started writing these back in 2017 I never would have thought they’d transform into what they are today. They were originally meant to be a quickie Sunday post that would take you all of maybe five…ten minutes tops, to read. I shared out a few favorite links and maybe a photo or two of Asher. These posts are now full of reading material, products I love, inspiration, recipes, and soooo many links. Basically everything and anything that’s at the top of my mind and/or inspiring me.

Throughout the week, I focus almost solely on sharing new recipes. But come Sunday, it’s fun to switch things up a bit. I love so much that many of you find these posts interesting and fun to read. These are the posts where I feel like I really get to connect with you guys and it’s such fun!

Since we are on our 150th Favorites post, I’d love to know what section of these posts you guys enjoy the most? Anything you don’t care for? Anything you’d love to see more of?

I’m very excited to share that in addition to continued recipes we’ve been working on a few projects behind the scenes the are focused more on “lifestyle” and being able to better share with you all the things I truly love most. So, that’s exciting! More to come this fall, but it feels good to feel excited! This time last year we had the anticipation of the HBH Super Simple Cookbook release. This year it’s something a little different!

And on that same note, I just read an email informing me that the holiday seasoning is going to be starting earlier than most years. Apparently, with many of us being a bit more homebound these days, it has everyone already looking ahead to fall and the holiday season. Hmm, I’m not sure how I feel about that. It’s exciting and scary. As you guys know I’m loving summer more than ever this year. It’s so refreshing to walk outside my door and see flowers, greenery, and feel warmer air. The 7 pm hour is my favorite these days, the sunsets are just too pretty for words.

That said, you all also know how much I love fall. So it’s exciting to me the many of you are already planning your autumn recipes. Those will forever be my favorite recipes to share.

Anyway, I’m rambling here, moving along…

I hope you have all had a good week! I jumped back into work after the 4th of July weekend and had a full week, but am really, really making more of a conscious effort to get out and enjoy our very quick Colorado summer. Balance is one of the things I struggle with the most when it comes to running a business. But I’m taking it day by day and trying my best. Tips and tricks are always welcomed if you have any to share!

What’s happening on your end? What are you all loving most about summer?

Coming up this week on HBH… We’ll be starting the week off with a fun new Mexican recipe. We’ll also have a delicious sweet treat, inspired by my grandpa, who will be turning 80 on the 21st! Then on to a savory, fun appetizer/side dish that’s great for summer days. And we’ll be ending the week with a new summer peach dessert (I hope, it’s not fully perfect just yet, fingers crossed).

And lastly, last Sunday’s Favorites post was never emailed to many of you on our list. So sorry! If you missed it, make sure you give it a read today. That was one of my favorite, favorites posts to put out. So much summer garden inspiration!

If you’re catching up on blog posts from the week, be sure to sign up for our daily newsletters. They’ll help you to stay up to date with everything that’s happening here, as well as fun content you’ll only get via email. If you’re meal planning today, don’t forget to check out my menu below (it’s # 9 on the favorite’s list). You can grab the full grocery list for this week’s menu in our special Sunday newsletter.

1. Things i’m loving, wanting, and excited to try…

loving…this simple white linen dress paired with sneakers for a cute, but east summer look.

wanting…this Celine bag, but I am settling on this much more affordable and super cute bag instead.

podcasts I’m listening to…The Lady Gang. Complete guilty pleasure podcast that just makes you smile a bit. Nothing is ever too serious.

loving…these espadrille slides, which normally would be a bit “girly” for me, but I’m into them.

watching…Nailed It. It’s like the Pinterest TV show.

excited to try…the flower press kit. It might be for kids, but I’m very excited about it.

ordering…this candle. It’s a splurge, but I’ve been wanting to try this one for the longest time. My candle addiction is real.

loving…Anthro’s new kids line, this little baby blanket is so adorable.

watching…The Big Flower Fight. A show all about flowers. I’m so into that.

loving…trimming the flowering herbs from the garden and keeping them in water.

re-ordering…my APL sneakers. I have these in black, but I’m loving the Rose Gold for summer.

loving…these white Love Shack Fancy dresses. A bit beyond my price range, but so pretty!

watching…Ugly Delicious. So excited to watch this start to finish. The trailer looks so good.

wanting…these boots and have wanted them for a while. Should I do it? Cute for around the yard, right?

4. Favorite questions of the week…

q: A condiment you could never live without?
a: I have to go with hot sauce. But not going to lie, I love ketchup too. And I cook with mustard a ton.

q: How do you typically clean all your cast iron cookware?
a: I really don’t clean it. The best way to care for cast iron is to do almost nothing to it. When I’m done cooking, I rinse it under warm water and use a scrunch pad if needed to get anything off. Then I just wipe it clean. I try not to use soap much on them as it’s really not needed. The oils from cooking keep the pans seasoned. My @staub_usa cast iron is enamel coated, so I don’t need to re-season it all the time. The enamel coating also means I can cook acid, like tomatoes in my cast iron.

q: I’m renovating my kitchen. What is your favorite aspect? Or a “must-do” in mine?
a: You need to have a farmhouse style sink if you can! Doing dishes in a large sink is a game changer…and if you need to hide messes quickly it’s pretty great for that too 🙂 And don’t forget outlets on the island!! Please! We only put in 1 outlet and it’s in the worst spot. Biggest mistake.

q: What’s your go-to spice for flavor?
a: I LOVE paprika. Especially smoked. So much flavor and most everyone really enjoys it!

  1. I’m excited to read your post every Sunday–I read it all the way through. If I’m busy on Sunday, then I wait to Monday morning when I’ll have more time to fully appreciate it. I made the strawberry pretzel pie last week–didn’t have enough strawberries so I threw in some blueberries. My husband and I are retired and have downsized, including what we eat, so I try to make some of the recipes into smaller proportions (although we do love leftovers!). This week’s dinner for us will definitely be the ravioli , pizza, and chicken bowl. Congratulations on your 150th post–looking forward to 150 more.

  2. Congrats on #150!! Sunday morning with Nine Favorite Things and my cup of coffee brightens my day. So happy to have this to look forward to every week. Keep up the good vibes! and Thank You!

  4. Look forward to your Nine Favorite Things posts! Other than where you live now, Where would you live in Colorado?

    1. Hi Mary,
Obviously I am partial to Summit County, but I love a good mountain town. One of the first places we visited was Crested Butte and I still love the quite feel there! xTieghan

  5. I love your 9 favorite things posts! Mostly the links you share and the intro message. I’m curious how others read this post — I read it all the way through, opening links in separate tabs as I go, so after I finish here I have about 18 tabs to bookmark/read now/later. Do other people click out and then come back? It would take me all day to get through it if I did that — so much good content, as always!

    1. I am so glad you are loving the links! And honestly, I am not sure what others do haha! I hope you continue to though! Thank you Rachel! xTieghan

  6. I look forward to this post every Sunday morning! Today I’m sitting on my porch enjoying the cooler morning air and the neighborhood wild life. Although I live in a densely populated urban neighborhood in the greater DC area, there are bunnies, a few foxes, deer, and lots of birds and squirrels to watch.
I am always inspired by the links in your post and sometimes I discover something new that I just can’t live without!
I’ve been working from home since March and I spend hours sitting in front of the computer. I’m making an effort to get outside at least a few minutes every day, even if it is just to water all of my plants/herbs or walk the dog. I’m doing my best to support local businesses – Ordering takeout once a week from struggling neighborhood restaurants and buying as much local meat, milk, and produce as possible from farms within 1 hour of my house. Fortunately we have a lot of options and I’m loving the abundance of fresh fruit and veggies.

    1. I love that you are enjoying these posts and what I have been sharing!! Also, so love that you are supporting local businesses!! I hope you have an amazing! xTieghan

  7. You got chickens? You’ve always had chickens? Anyway, can’t wait to hear about your latest project!

  8. i love the links you share… i always love seeing what has inspired you lately. You, Emily Henderson, Studio DIY, and Cup of Jo all share weekend links to check out, and I spend my Sunday mornings running, then walking my dogs, journaling, then i make my coffee and sit down to read and my husband takes care of the kids… my sunday mornings are precious!

    1. You are so sweet! I am really glad you have been enjoying these posts!! I hope you continue to! ? xTieghan

  9. Came across your HBH @ library this past winter while browsing cookbooks with my sister. She took the book out and both of us throughly enjoyed each and every recipe. I had my library hold one for me plus your new book, which hasn’t come in yet. Anyway I made Dad’s One Pan Friday Night Pasta it was easy to put together and so delicious my husband has already requested it again. I also made the Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Cake will be serving that today. Can’t wait to try more of your recipes and love the Newsletters and additional emailed recipes. May have to purchase a new cookbook for my New Kitchen. Thank you ? Annie

    1. Aw that is so amazing!! I am really glad you have been loving my recipes, Annie! Thank you so much! xTieghan

  10. I look forward to this every Sunday! Here’s a website that I think you’ll enjoy and hope you’ll share with your readers.
I’m from RI and this is a local artisan shop that was established in 1948.

  11. The Sunday posts are always something to look forward to. I actually love hearing about your week and how lovely it is on your side of the country (I’m in Charleston, sc). The links of what you are searching this week are always fun because we have similar interests. And of course… my favourite are this weeks meal plan. So easy and convenient. I love your Sunday posts.

  12. I love waking up on a Sunday morning and read Nine favorite things while I have breakfast and sip on my morning tea. It’s become a tradition that I cherish 🙂 I also think the summer is way too short and you have to enjoy every single moment of it. I try to be outside in the nature as much as I can and my goal this summer is to eat more seasonal. My favorite part of these posts are the seasonal/holiday recipes/themed recipes #2, favorite links #7 and this week’s dinners #9 .

    1. Aw I love that!! I am really glad you have been loving these posts, Berglind! Thank you so much! xTieghan

  13. That picture is too cute!! Congratulations on your 150th post 🙂 My favorite part of Nine Favorite Things are the weekly recipe suggestions. I think its a fun challenge to see if I can make most of them that week. I also think the photography and quotes you share are really inspiring. I think one thing I would love to see more of would be lifestyle and entertaining ideas on a budget. Really excited to see all the fall things!

    1. Aw thank you so much Elle! I am really glad you have been loving these and I will def try to incorporate! xTieghan
