With longer days and nicer weather, and hopefully more time outside, simple meals are what we need. That’s really just life in general, but everyone can appreciate a nice quick and easy sheet pan dinner.

It might just be my new favorite way to do a quick, weeknight steak stir fry.

When I set out to create this recipe, I really wanted to do my best to recreate something we’d order in a restaurant, yet made at home and ideally better. Plus, my family has been enjoying recipes with steak more lately, so I’m having fun playing around with new ideas!

This recipe is honestly very easy, steak with broccoli and ginger in a great sauce.

Simply add coconut rice, creamy spicy mayo, and a fresh cucumber salad. We think it’s just delish!

here are the details

Because we’re cooking steak, this cooks even quicker than our usual sheet pan dinners. Toss the steak with flour or arrowroot powder if you’re gluten-free. Then, black pepper and a drizzle of oil. Then add the ginger.

On the other side of the pan, toss the broccoli with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Arrange everything in one layer. Make sure to not overcrowd the pan. The idea is that when you transfer the pan to the oven, you’ll cook the steak at a higher temperature and get it crispy.

While everything is cooking, mix the sauce. Tamari, maple syrup or honey, chili paste (I love to use Gochujang). Then add garlic, some of that ginger juice from the pickled ginger jar, and a light drizzle of toasted sesame oil.

Grab the sheet pan from the oven, if the broccoli is cooked, pull it off the pan. Then, add the sauce. Switch the oven over to broil and broil the steak until it’s caramelized (watch carefully).

Then toss up the cucumber salad. Just some Persian cucumbers, green onions, and chili flakes. So simple, but so fresh.
Serve the steak, and vegetables over top of the rice.

Finish this all up with fresh green onions, and if you’d like, a spicy, creamy mayo sauce! It’s our absolute favorite.

If you took the broccoli off the pan, add it back now. Toss both the steak and the broccoli with the sauce. Now get that rice that you hopefully already cooked up. Serve the steak, broccoli, and salad over top of the rice.

Finish this all up with fresh green onions, and if you’d like, a spicy, creamy mayo sauce! It’s our absolute favorite.

this was deeeeeelish, better than takeout. And those cucumbers were so simple but really a great addition to the dish.

Didn’t have pickled ginger on hand so i added grated fresh ginger and a little splash of rice wine vinegar.

this will become a regular part of our dinner rotation for sure.

    1. Hey Kristin,

This recipe was really good and not difficult to make. I did have to go to Whole Foods to grab pickled ginger. The flavor was good and I love having a rice bowl for a meal!

This was delicious and so easy! The flavor has a great kick to it! We absolutely loved it. I did leave out the pickled ginger and ginger juice. And when I make it again I would add more vegetables (scallions/onions, maybe red pepper). I am wondering if chicken or shrimp could be substituted for the beef and if so how would it be prepared in terms of cooking time and cooking temp. Thank you!!!

Made this with bison tenderloin and it was so amazing! Followed everything except used regular ginger as I didn’t have the pickled ginger.

This was delicious and easy! I used two sheet pans so I baked it a little longer. I forgot to add the garlic and shallot but still delicious. I will definitely make this again.

This is an absolute favorite in our house. It makes a regular appearance on our menu. We’ll never be able to order beef and broccoli in a restaurant again because it would lack flavor.

This is one of my favorites I have made recently! I subbed plain old Siracha for the fancy chili paste, regular ginger instead of pickled, and whatever basic cucumbers my tiny Clark’s market in Telluride sells. Still so great and a quick meal to put together. Thank you again Tieghan for another well done recipe.

    1. Hey Kara! Thank you SO much! Always love to hear when a recipe is a success! Hope you have an amazing New Year! xT

  8. I bought all the ingredients but it looks like the actual instructions got mixed up with another recipe. I’ll have to figure something else out on the fly and save this one for another time!

  9. Hi!

Our family loves your recipes and loves to read about you! We have a favorite recipe that we have made over and over and it seems as though you have substituted the Korean Style Beef Recipe for the Sheet Pan Spicy Ginger Sesame Beef and Broccoli, I cannot find it on your site. Would you mind publishing the Sheet Pan Spicy Ginger Sesame Beef I recently purchased all the ingredients at the store and now I don’t have the recipe!

    Thanks so much!
    Amy

Seriously good, my favorite HBH recipe. I’m on a low-fat diet but have to have this a few times a month (using grass-fed flank steak). My tip is to remove as much of the liquid from the beef after baking, before adding the sauce and broiling so the flavor doesn’t get diluted. Thanks for sharing such a great recipe!
