To be honest, anything made in the microwave doesn’t really excite me much. I know it can be a great tool, but I definitely prefer the oven or stove top, you know?

But my gosh, it’s summer and we’ve entered into the month of August which can be one of the warmest months of the year. Turning the oven on isn’t always the best idea, especially for those of us with smaller homes!

After a lot of requests for no-oven recipes, the idea of a peach mug cake brewed in my head. I’ve made chocolate mug cakes, and even banana mug cakes, but never something peachy!

It sounded kind of fun, so I went for it, and here we are! These personal-sized cakes turned out so great!

Here are the details

I wanted the cakes to have a great peach flavor and plenty of fresh juicy peaches. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to create more of a cake or a crisp, so I made a combination of them both.

Start with the peaches. I used about 1/2 a peach per cake, but you can use more too! First, arrange a few peach slices in the bottom of a mug. Add a sprinkle of brown sugar and a small pat of butter. Throw this in the microwave for a few seconds.

Meanwhile, mix up the batter. Melted butter, brown sugar (though I sometimes use honey), vanilla, and an egg. Then whole wheat flour, oats, and a small pinch of baking powder + salt!

The oats add a nice crisp-like texture to these buttery peach mug cakes.

What I do is spoon the batter over the peaches, then place more peaches on the top with a sprinkle of brown sugar and cinnamon. Add a pat of butter and put the mug in the microwave.

As the cake cooks, the peaches on top get a little caramelized from the brown sugar and the butter helps to create just the right amount of sauce.

It’s really so delicious!

Keys to success

Eat this warm, right after cooking. This isn’t a cake you want to eat leftover, it’s meant as a quick fix. So eat it right away, preferably with ice cream on top. Trust me, delish!

Every microwave is different, so the cooking time is a little tricky. That said, I tested this on two different microwaves and found two minutes to be just the right amount of time. You may need to adjust slightly by fifteen seconds, give or take.

This is the best afternoon pick-me-up, warm after-dinner dessert, or late-night snack with a side of TV watching.

Plus, a really good way to enjoy our summertime peaches!

    1. Hey Esther,
Sorry, I’ve never tested that, but let me know if you give it a try! I hope you love the recipe! xx

    2. My favorite mug cake recipes don’t use eggs, so I decided to go ahead and make this recipe without! I just substituted in a couple tbsp of milk until the batter came together, and I thought the texture turned out really nicely.

      1. Hi Lydia,
I really appreciate you giving this recipe a try, I am so glad to hear it was enjoyed! Hope you’re having a great Wednesday! xT

All the flavors are there, but the batter turned into more of a muffin for me and wound up really dry. I’d really love to make it again, but wonder how to make it more cobbler-y?

  2. 3 stars
I’m addicted to Tiegans mug cake recipes – they’re so easy to make with the most simple ingredients.

Tried this out and it was ok ! I thought the batter didn’t end up as moist as some of the other cakes (a little drier) but I loved the bottom of the cake which was melted butter, fruit and brown sugar – I wish this could be been dispersed throughout the cake.

If I ever were craving sweets with nothing around but peaches etc.. then I’d make it again 🙂

    1. Delicious, 10 Minute Gooey Vanilla Peach Mug Cake recipe. My family enjoyed this yesterday for dessert..

    1. Hey Danielle,
To Oven Bake: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 2 cup oven safe ramekin/mug or 2 muffin tins. Add the batter and bake 22-25 minutes. Please let me know if you have any other questions! xx

Gotta make this. Perfect and the best looking mug cake I’ve seen.
Since I’ve moved into a place, with an atrocious oven, I’ve been for things such as this. Now, if you’d post you banana, chocolate, etc. mug cakes, I’d be very grateful.

    1. She already has posted them. I went to the Search button (the magnifying glass in the upper right corner of this page) and typed “mug” and the mug cake recipes that Tieghan referred to magically appeared: 5 Minute Chocolate Chunk Banana Bread Mug Cake and 5 Minute Molten Chocolate Mug Cake.

  5. I made this for breakfast this morning.
I will use a bigger mug next time. It over flowed from the mug I used. It was tasty but chewy. I think it was chewy because of the loss of liquid.
I am going to try this recipe again in a bigger mug.

    1. Hi Melinda,
Thanks for giving the recipe a try, sorry to hear about the overflow! Have a great weekend! xx

    1. Hey there,
Sorry, not at this time, we just have the estimated calorie count:) Please let me know if you give the recipe a try! xx

  6. We are peach lovers and this looks yummy. We went to SC last Saturday and came home with 45 boxes of peaches. We had friends and relatives that got them. We kept 6 boxes for ourselves. I have already frozen 13 pints, made 2 cobblers, muffins, and ate a bunch. HA!!! Will be freezing more as they ripen.

    1. Hey Charlotte!
LOL wow, that sounds awesome!! Let me know if you give this recipe a try, I hope you love it! xx

    1. Hey there,
Yes, you can use an equal amount of gluten free flour! I hope you love this recipe, please let me know if you give it a try! xx

  7. Looks so good! Could you use almond flour and remove the oats? Would you use the same amount of flour?

    Thank you!
    Lori

    1. Hey Lori,
I would use an equal amount of gluten free flour and then omit the oats:) I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you give it a try! xx

    1. I know she hasn’t responded to you yet but I made this this morning for breakfast with significantly less sugar. I couldn’t tell you how much because I was basically just using a pinch here and there, but it was less than a tablespoon…probably closer to a teaspoon. I liked it, but my threshold for sweets is way lower than most people. Plus, I was looking for more of a breakfast food rather than dessert! Also topped with Greek yogurt instead of ice cream ?

    2. Hey Jessica,
Sure, that would be fine for you to do!! I hope you love the recipe, let me know if you give it a try! xx
