Nine Favorite Things

Nine Favorite Things – something new soon!

After returning home from LA last week, I spent the week in the kitchen. I spent part of Sunday prepping for that big photoshoot I mentioned last week. I was so nervous for Monday. But I’m happy to share that all went really well and I’ll be able to share more details very soon!

To say I was relieved once we completed the shoot would be an understatement. It took me a minute to recoup, but the rest of the week was spent cooking and shooting. I’ll be traveling a little more than usual in November and December, so I’m doing my best to work ahead. This means thinking about Thanksgiving! Which is just crazy, but I’m looking forward to creating a whole new Thanksgiving menu for you all.

You have to let me know if there’s anything specific you’re really wanting to see this year! Or how I can best help you all to have the BEST holiday season yet! I really want to make this year’s content fit for you all and yet still be so special. I’m really excited!

I’ve already ordered new holiday decor and pieces for upcoming tablescapes and holiday cocktails too. Wahoo!

Asher has taken on the task of unboxing everything and she’s sure having fun with all the holiday pieces. It’s made us both so excited. I made her our very first mug of hot chocolate for the cozy season. We had two days of snow and FREEZING temperatures, so of course hot chocolate was on the menu. She’s the sweetest.

Also, Chicago I’m coming to see you all! Sharing details on our events below. Can’t wait!

That’s all I’ve got – Happy Sunday! Ideally, I’ll be burning a pumpkin smash candle while baking my favorite pumpkin cookies today!

1. Things i’m loving, wanting, and excited to try.

4. Chicago events this week!

Nine Favorite Things

So excited! I will be in Chicago this week for 2 LIVE events. The first with Ulta Beauty and the second with Williams-Sonoma.

Snif Ulta Beauty Meet and Greet – Thursday, October 19th

I’ll be hosting a meet-and-greet at the Ulta Beauty in downtown Chicago on October 19th from 5-7 PM CT. We’re launching the Pumpkin SMASH candle in select Ulta Beauty stores across the US!!

Tickets are FREE, you can get them here (the first 150 to show with a ticket are guaranteed access to the meet-and-greet opportunities).

We’ll also be having some fun giveaways, including a chance to enter a raffle for a year’s worth of Snif candles. And what’s even more exciting? You’ll get a free sample of another secret project we’ve been working on that’s coming in November! It’s going to be so much fun!

Williams Sonoma Lincoln Park, Chicago – Friday, October 20th

We’ve already had an overwhelming amount of sign-ups for the Ulta beauty event so we decided to add one more Meet and Greet in Chicago! On Friday, October 20th, I’ll be at the Williams Sonoma Lincoln Park at 6 pm CT. I didn’t want to miss anyone on this trip (sorry about last time).  So if you’re interested in meeting up with me, and you can’t make it to Ulta on Thursday, then Friday at Williams Sonoma is the event for you! I will be signing books in addition to our Pumpkin Smash candle. You can purchase the 2 together, which would be the cutest holiday or hostess gift.

Reserve your tickets here – looking forward to this so much!

5. What are your “worth every penny” buys?

Got this idea from this Cup of Joe Post. So cute and fun!

Without a doubt, skincare. You’ll have your skin forever and ever. Take care of it now and the less you’ll have to do as you age. I look at skincare as an investment in my health.

A nice hotel room, every time. This has been a GAME CHANGER for me in terms of travel. Knowing I will be staying in a comfortable place while traveling has actually helped me love traveling. I love staying in a pretty hotel, it makes me want to travel more.

A cast iron skillet – get yourself a nice one, trust me. You’ll use it just about every day for the rest of your life. Mine see more use than you could ever guess.

Breville Espresso – I use my espresso machine every single morning. It’s part of my morning routine. I can’t imagine getting through the morning without it!

  1. My “worth every penny” is traveling business class when flying overseas. 🙂

Love all your recipes, can’t wait to see what you have in store for us for Thanksgiving & Christmas!

  2. I’ve been to Christmas markets in Germany and France and highly recommend them. They are so much fun! They offer a wide selection of goods, foods, warm drinks, and entertainment. Just be prepared for large crowds and chilly weather.

  3. Thank you Tieghan for your Sunday posts. I look forward to them every Sunday. I loved the link to the European Christmas markets…have never flown anywhere, but visiting any one of those places would be marvellous.

I’m Canadian so we just celebrated Thanksgiving last weekend, but I look forward to your Thanksgiving recipes as I can keep them ready for next year 😉.

It’s a beautiful fall day here and I have my crockpot on as I’m making your fabulous Sunday Ragu recipe…can’t wait for dinner!

Happy Sunday and thanks again for sharing your talents and gifts…the greatest being your positive attitude and genuine good wishes for everyone.

    1. Hope you had such a great Thanksgiving! I’m sorry I didn’t have new Thanksgiving recipes up for my HBH community in Canada! Have an amazing week, thank you so so much! xT

  4. I saw on insta that you might be posting friendsgiving recipes! I does friendsgiving typically have a different menu than thanksgiving? From my understanding, it’s the same meal…you’re just enjoying it with your friends as opposed to family!

But maybe I’m wrong! Can you share how you’ve celebrated friendsgiving in the past?

    1. Our friends group has done Friendsgiving for several years now. Since our gathering is always the night before Thanksgiving, we do appetizers, drinks, and dress in comfy pjs. It’s super low-key and such a fun way to celebrate with our friend family!

  5. For Thanksgiving, I am looking for a light but traditional bread dressing (stuffing?) casserole recipe. There are a million recipes out there but haven’t found the one. Thank you for asking for our input. Have a lovely day.

  6. Hey T! Love how close you are with your family but I hope you have a close group of girlfriends too! As a young woman, I think it’s really important to have other outlets than your parents and siblings. Friends are integral way to learn about other points of views and ways of life. I hope you feel the freedom to branch out from your family unit and enjoy some independence!

  7. What do you mean by “a solid family unit is so rare and undervalued these days”? I’d love to hear you expand upon this. In 2023 I think we all strive to be inclusive. And in my opinion, a solid family unit can take shape in many ways. I’d hate to think that one of my favorite food bloggers thinks less of family units that may not be as “traditional” as her own 🙁

    1. Hi Amelia! I totally agree that a strong family unit can take shape in many ways. A strong family unit is just that, whether they’re related to you or a friend that has become more like family. This unit has all the things I described, people that are there for you through your worst times, support you in every move you make (maybe trying to steer you away from making a bad move), and always have your back! Hope this makes sense! Have a great week 🙂 xT

      1. But does this so called strong family unit include the rest of your siblings? You only seem to post about Creighton, Asher, and Oslo. Why don’t you mention your other siblings? Don’t you have a brother in LA? Did you spend any time with him while I you were there?

        1. Hey Harriet! I actually have 5 brothers and we are an incredibly close family. My brother who is in LA was in Europe while I was in town. Not all of my family members want to be shared and talked about online. Out of respect for them, I don’t share too much. They also live in CA, so I see them a little less. But that does not make us any less close. We make it work and do big family holidays. Hope this clears things up for you. Thanks for the comment and have a wonderful week! xx

  8. Am a long time fan. If you want a nice hotel bathroom, try The Emma in San Antonio Texas, a beautifully restored brewery complex. Just lovely and reasonably priced.

  9. I would love to see ideas for more vegetables on the Thanksgiving menu. My sides are always decadent, and then there is one token vegetable. 😆

    1. Hi Kimberly, I hope that it is OK to mention a company here (I think Tieghan uses some of their products sometimes). King Arthur Baking is a great source for Gluten Free baking, recipes and flours – we’ve had great success with their Measure for Measure flour and their GF bread flour (my son made their baguette for his girlfriend and he and I ate it as well).

      I hope I didn’t overstep.😁

    2. I have converted many GF recipes from HBH recipes but I don’t think this is her specialty nor should it. You should absolutely try the gluten free Austrian. She’s a celiac pastry chef and every recipe is amazing
