Nine Favorite Things | halfbakedharvest.com

Happy first Sunday of October! Hoping you all are enjoying fall as much as I am! Up here in the mountains, we (very sadly) are on the downward side of the fall foliage peak. Our fall leaves were the absolute prettiest (see photos below). I am so sad our colors are waning, but loving our still warm days and cool crisp nights. Fall is my favorite. All things cozy, all the time.

At this moment in time I’m feeling the full emotional spectrum…excited, so happy, grateful, nervous, anxious…basically everything. As we get closer and closer to the release of HBH Super Simple, my nerves continue to build. I just hope so much that you all will love this cookbook. It’s always so scary putting something out into the world, but fingers crossed you all will love the new recipes. I hope you’ll find them delicious, easy, and very doable for any night of the week. We’ve been working really hard to make the launch a success. I’ve been juggling a lot of tasks over here…all good things, but a lot of things! Very excited for the weeks ahead!

What wasn’t so fun? Tech issues. My MacBook’s battery died on me, precisely at the time I needed it most. So that definitely wasn’t fun. But as my mom said to me, I need to leave a little more wiggle room for life’s hiccups, because they happen. Lesson heard, loud and clear. The good news is that while it was a four-plus day struggle with computer and camera stuff behind the scenes. I actually learned a lot in the process, so hey, that’s looking at the bright side, right?!

And in other exciting and cool news, my brothers, Malachi and Red, spent last winter filming and snowboarding (respectively), for a movie project entitled Joy, A Snowboard Film. Joy is a snowboard movie that chronicles Red and his friends and their pursuit of big mountain snow. Kai, who does all of HBH’s videos as well, filmed the movie. And while I might be a bit biased, Joy is SO GOOD. The premiere will be in LA on October 19th. For any of you who are into snowboarding and live in the LA area, you can grab tickets to the premiere here. I’d love to see some HBH faces at the premiere! Also, OverJOYed, the making of JOY will be featured nationally on ABC’s World of X Games Oct 27, 1:30 pm ET /2 pm PT.

Coming up this week on HBH, I’ll be sharing yet another new pumpkin recipe (that’s mouth-wateringly delicious), the cutest new Halloween treats, a quick and easy pasta, a new (non-boring) instant pot/slow cooker dinner, and the perfect autumn dessert. Additionally, keep an eye out for some HBH Super Simple bonus material that we’ll be launching this week!

Lastly, if you’re trying to catch up on blog posts from the week, please sign up for our daily newsletters. They’ll help you to stay up to date with everything that’s happening here as well as fun content you’ll only get via our email. And of course, if you’re meal planning today, don’t forget to check out my menu below (it’s #9 on the favorite’s list).

I hope you enjoy this week’s Nine Favorite Things!

1. New York, Los Angelas, and Chicago Cookbook Events.

You may have already seen this on Instagram, but I announced the events I will be doing for the cookbook. I made a decision a few months back not to do a HUGE book tour during the holiday season, so we kept the events to NYC, LA, and Chicago.

I’m excited to share that I’ll be doing a couple of signings in each city. Sadly, the Eataly events in both New York and Chicago are sold out. First, I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who’s purchased tickets and/or who’s messaged me the last few days. You guys are truly the sweetest, and you all feel so much like family to me. I want to meet you ALL, so I’m beyond sorry that some of you couldn’t get tickets.

BUT, the very good news is that we have NYC and LA signings that are open to everyone and anyone that can make it. With no cap on the number of people that can come.

Soo, grab all the details below! Can’t wait to meet you guys soon! 🙂

For the NYC Feed Feed event grab tickets here.

For the LA Feed Feed event grab tickets here.

PS. We are looking into adding additional events in NYC and Chicago, so stay tuned for more info on that. I’ll let you guys know as soon as I have all the details.

2. Autumn in Colorado… and my favorite cozy latte.

As mentioned above, our leaves have peeked here in Colorado. I took all the photos I could so that I could share them with you guys. There is nothing prettier than Colorado in the fall.

3. New Fall Kitchen Finds in my Cart…

4. questions of the week…HBH Super Simple edition 1.

q: Are the book’s recipes mostly instant pot/slow cooker recipes? Or regular stovetop and oven?
a: There is a really good mix of everything. This is not an instant pot or slow cooker cookbook. This cookbook provides options for everyone and is incredibly user-friendly. I truly made this book for all of YOU, so I wanted it to work well for everyone.

q: Are these recipes that we have seen before or are they all new?
a: The recipes in the cookbook are all new and exclusive to the cookbook. They’ve never been seen before and can only be found in HBH Super Simple!

q: Will instant pot/slow cooker recipes have an alternate way to cook if one doesn’t have either?
a: Yes. Almost all of the instant pot/slow cooker recipes have 3 variations, stovetop, slow cooker, or instant pot. It was really important to me that EVERYONE be able to cook out of this cookbook.

q: How many of the recipes are 30 minutes or less?
a: Umm, I would have to actually count, but A LOT of the recipes are 30 minutes or less. And if they are over 30 minutes, most of that time is spent cooking in the oven or slow cooker.

q: Will it be sold at Anthropologie?
a: Yes! The new book will be sold Anthropologie.

q: Are you coming to Denver for a book event?
a: There will be a Colorado event in December but we are not ready to announce it quite yet!

q: Will it be available in Canada?
a: Yes! If you live in Canada you can preorder via Amazon Canada.

  1. I’m literally getting home from a week trek through Steamboat Springs, Vail, and your neck of the woods. The weather couldn’t have been better. The golden hues were gorgeous, even though some areas were past the peak. So many pictures. Fall is absolutely my favorite season!
I’m so excited for your cookbook release; I pre-ordered as soon as it was available. I really look forward to your Denver event! I was initially bummed when I saw you were only doing 3 big cities, but completely understand you have to go where your audience is and what is best for you. Interesting tidbit, I started keeping track of how many recipes of yours I make a week, the average is 3.

    1. Ah yes! It is so beautiful right now! So glad you had such an amazing time, Amanda! Also, that is so amazing that you love my recipes! I love to hear that and I hope the book is everything you’re hoping for! xTieghan

  2. Okay, your #6, under Ideal October weekend, you say to roast pumpkin seeds. I love roasted pumpkin seeds but every time I make them, they don’t taste so good. Do you have a good recipe or can you do a post with different options for recipes for pumpkin seeds? It would be perfect for this time of year when it’s pumpkin carving time! 🙂

  3. Lovely fall photos! And those pumpkin coffee cake muffins look amazing!
Very frustrating about your MacBook! Recently Apple had a safety recall on some of their MacBooks. You should have received an email if yours was one of them, my husband did. One time I had an oven on a safety recall and did not receive a message from the manufacturer. It’s a good thing I was home when the extreme overheating occurred, otherwise we may have had a fire!

  4. Wow! Your cookbook is nearly here! I’m sad to learn that you’re only going to a few big cities; please consider Minneapolis if you do an expanded book tour. The bad part is that I’ll have the cookbook by the time you’d come here and signings require buying a cookbook at the event. For me, cookbooks are also literature; you learn about the time and place in which the cookbook was produced and what foods are available/popular in the location.

Your recipes are always so beautiful!

  5. Love this. Specially the links. good luck with your book events 🙂 I checked and the book is still not available in India for pre-order 🙁 Someone I know lives in the US and she is going to order it for me and finally in December (when she visits India) I will have the book 😀

  6. Your pictures of the fall colors are beautiful. There has been no color here in north Georgia. It has been extremely dry and hot until yesterday. It went from the 90s into the high 60s yesterday. Also, we were in Pigeon Forge,TN week before last and it was hot and dry there also. No color!! Thousands of people go there in the fall to see the leaves. Afraid it will be disappointing this time.

    1. Oh wow that is a big change! Hopefully they start changing soon for you, Charlotte! Maybe all of the fall comfort foods will help haha! xTieghan
