So? You guys remember this bread?

From last Tuesday? The 5 ingredient Beer Bread? You might not since that happened to be one of the days (yes DAYS) my site was having major issues, but thank God those issue have been resolved – I hope!

How cute and awesome is that pumpkin beer bottle? I am kind of obsessed with it. I have used it in WAY too many photos, but I just cannot get enough of it.

That little pumpkin gets me every time. I just like staring at it, he (or she!) makes me smile.

And not even because I am going drink it, heck I still can’t even legally buy it!

Nope, I really just like using it to cook with, I also like having that cute little pumpkin face stare back at me while I cook. Thankfully, I have my dad to buy me my booze. He actually said the other day, “you know, for someone who does not even drink you sure go through a lot of alcohol, and not the cheap stuff either”.

Anyway, if you did not see this bread go check it out. It’s a good one and it is especially good served alongside this chicken.

The beer bread recipe was originally my grandmas. The tasty, simple recipes are always the ones with staying power. They are the ones that get passed around and around the family, and this one is no exception. And since today is her birthday this is a great opportunity to thank her for holding on to this and many other family “classics”. Happy Birthday Nonnie!

Basically, this chicken is the easiest tastiest fall meal. Just throw everything in and cook all day. Then make some bread and you are done.

If you want an extra layer of flavor you can brown the chicken before adding it to the crock pot, it does add some pretty good flavor, but if you’re short on time you can totally skip this. Seriously, sometimes I brown the chicken, sometimes I don’t, but either way it is still awesome!

Oh and can I just say, that if you are having a busy/rough/just plain annoying week this is definitely your meal. It is SO easy and so warm and cozy… and so no fuss.

Plus, if you have some people or someone or something who is maybe just slightly getting on your very last nerve (like I do today), this is the meal that’s going to make you feel better. Seriously.

  1. Definitely on the menu this week!

One quick question…so I just dump the canned tomatoes/ green chilies in or do they need to be drained?

    Thanks!

  2. I was wondering if you could recommend a different beer? We live in a very small town that doesn’t have too much variety. when it comes to any alcohol!
We usually just drink Bud Lite. Im not sure if that would be good in this recipe? Let me know your thoughts? thanks!

    1. Hey Kathy,
Whatever beer you drink will be great! Soo bud light is perfect! 🙂 Hope you love this!

  3. I am trying this for 12 people. It sounded so yummy. I’ll tell you if I did well by your recipe.

    Thanks for this.

  4. Just tried making this dish today- turned out great! I love the smell and the flavor. Will definitely be revisiting this dish in the future, and will be looking through your recipes for more keepers. Thanks for sharing!

  5. We *love* this recipe. I made it a few times last year and just made it again this weekend. I think we’re like the commenter above…. it definitely wasn’t spicy enough for us on the first go round. For people who want more of a kick – sub out one of the red peppers for some jalapenos. We do 2 jalapenos and a poblano. I also add some more hot sauce. My husband still adds some extra-extra spice with a little Cholula. You can really easily tailor this with additional spices! 🙂

  6. I gave this recipe a try yesterday and was thoroughly disappointed. It was bland to my palate. I’m not sure what I did wrong since I followed it perfectly.

  7. Made this recipe this weekend and have been enjoying all week. We used chicken thighs (8 since they’re smaller than breasts) and they shredded perfectly. We also used more sausage since our favorite brand is on the mild side. Definitely a keeper. Just what the doctor ordered for a rainy Seattle day!

  8. I would really like to make this but i don’t own a crockpot..
Is it possible to make it on the stove top?
    Thanks!
    Greetings from the Netherlands

    1. HI! You can make this in the oven, just bake everything in a covered pot at 350 for 3-4 hours or at a lower temp for longer. Please let me know if you have any more questions and I hope you love this!

      1. Hi!
I made this yesterday. It was great 🙂 my boyfriend finished 2 plates! I did not add the sausage because we do not have it here.
I am looking forward to making more of your recipes!!
        They always look so wonderfull!

  9. Sounds like a great recipe! I am going to try it today. Are there any other vegetables you can recommend adding to the mixture or having on the side?

    1. I think that and roasted veggie such as broccoli or fall squashed would be great! You could also add them to the crockpot as well. Hope you lave this!

  10. I made this for dinner. My husband almost threatened to eat himself into a coma it was so good. Thank you for the recipe!

  11. I made this tonight and it was incredible! I often admire your blog but this is the first recipe I’ve ever made from your site and it was simple and delicious. Thank you for sharing!(:

  12. Fantastic recipe, The Man won’t stop raving about it. I modified the recipe slightly and used fresh hot peppers from my garden.

  13. Hi Tieghan!

I wanted to see if it would be ok if we featured your recipe for Crockpot Beer Braised Chicken on CraftBeer.com? One of the main goals of the site (created by the Brewers Association) is to bring craft beer to the dinner table, either through pairings or as an ingredient in foods.

I would create a post similar to this: http://www.craftbeer.com/recipes/imperial-stout-chocolate-raspberry-beer-cream-whoopie-pies and include your bio/logo/link to your site. It would be shared on our homepage and promoted though our social media channels.

Please let me know if this would be possible! Thanks again!
