From last Tuesday? The 5 ingredient Beer Bread? You might not since that happened to be one of the days (yes DAYS) my site was having major issues, but thank God those issue have been resolved – I hope!

How cute and awesome is that pumpkin beer bottle? I am kind of obsessed with it. I have used it in WAY too many photos, but I just cannot get enough of it.

That little pumpkin gets me every time. I just like staring at it, he (or she!) makes me smile.

And not even because I am going drink it, heck I still can’t even legally buy it!

Nope, I really just like using it to cook with, I also like having that cute little pumpkin face stare back at me while I cook. Thankfully, I have my dad to buy me my booze. He actually said the other day, “you know, for someone who does not even drink you sure go through a lot of alcohol, and not the cheap stuff either”.

Anyway, if you did not see this bread go check it out. It’s a good one and it is especially good served alongside this chicken.

The beer bread recipe was originally my grandmas. The tasty, simple recipes are always the ones with staying power. They are the ones that get passed around and around the family, and this one is no exception. And since today is her birthday this is a great opportunity to thank her for holding on to this and many other family “classics”. Happy Birthday Nonnie!

Basically, this chicken is the easiest tastiest fall meal. Just throw everything in and cook all day. Then make some bread and you are done.

If you want an extra layer of flavor you can brown the chicken before adding it to the crock pot, it does add some pretty good flavor, but if you’re short on time you can totally skip this. Seriously, sometimes I brown the chicken, sometimes I don’t, but either way it is still awesome!

Oh and can I just say, that if you are having a busy/rough/just plain annoying week this is definitely your meal. It is SO easy and so warm and cozy… and so no fuss.

Plus, if you have some people or someone or something who is maybe just slightly getting on your very last nerve (like I do today), this is the meal that’s going to make you feel better. Seriously.

  1. I know I’m a bit late to this one, but if I skipped the sausage do you think this would still work? Love your recipes!

    1. Hey Liz! I think you are fine to skip the sausage, but there will just be a little less flavor to the sauce. Hope you love this and thanks for making it!

  2. This recipe sounds delicious, and I would really want to try it, but I’m not a spicy hot sauce eater. Should I just leave out the hot sauce, chillies, and cayenne? I know it won’t be as flavorful so can you suggest other spices?

    Thank you so much 🙂

    1. Hi!

Yes, just leave those things out and honestly you do not really need to add anything. The beer and thyme add great flavor! Hope you love this!

  3. That looks like one heck of a delicious meal!! I bet your cooking makes your family very happy!! 😉

  4. oh wow, this looks incredible – what an amazing combination of flavours!

  5. This recipe looks hearty and delicious — perfect for fall! I have a similar recipe, except that it uses a jar of olives. My husband really dislikes olives, but I make it anyway since I love it so much. But I’ll have to try your version — might help to keep both of us happy : )

  6. This is gorgeous! I am a huge fan of pumpkin beer. I wait for it all year. I haven’t seen that one, I’ll have to look for it next time!

  7. Haha too funny! I can legally buy alcohol but I don’t drink – I do like cooking with it though! Your chicken sounds amazing!

    1. Ha! Yeah, I am not a drink, even if I were of age (getting real close though). It’s just not for me!

      Thanks Laura!

  8. Ha! You crack me up. I am like you and can’t legally buy alcohol, but it is such a great addition to recipes that it is always good when you can have some around to use. This recipe is beautiful! It is definitely my kind of meal, throw it in and wait for it!

  9. I love cooking with beer! And crockpots. I will definitely be adding this to the repertoire!

  10. OMG you are on a beer kick and I like it!! Because I am obsessed with beer! Saw you commenting on the Beeroness and she is AWESOME! LOVE this and definitely gonna try this! You would love the Pumpkin Spice Ale muffins I made recently!
