These easy Homemade Pull Apart Crispy Prosciutto and Cheese Sliders are my new go-to easy appetizer for holiday parties this season. Soft dinner rolls layered with jam, Swiss cheese, and baked crispy prosciutto. Then, a salty Dijon poppy seed garlic butter is poured over the rolls right before baking. Just so delicious. Everyone is obsessed with these! They’re cheesy on the inside, yet golden and toasted outside, with a delicious garlic butter topping.

Never was I the girl who thought I would be making prosciutto and cheese sliders for the holidays, but here we are! And to be honest, I’m so in love with this recipe!!

Ham and prosciutto were just not something I grew up with. My family never had either one at holiday parties. It wasn’t until I started to cook that we all discovered how delicious they can be! As you probably know, we especially love prosciutto!

My mom will tell you that her favorites are glazed ham and crispy prosciutto! She actually will not eat prosciutto unless it’s crispy!

She’s really the reason I came up with this recipe. I wanted to test out classic ham and cheese sliders, but I knew she wouldn’t be into regular deli ham on a roll.

Crispy prosciutto was the obvious solution! And these came out so delicious! We’ve all been in love with these sliders.

I added these cute buns to my Thanksgiving and Christmas menus! They’re just so scrumptious!

  • fig preserves

Special Tools

Just a couple of sheet pans and some parchment paper! Nothing new here!

Steps

Step 1: crisp the prosciutto

Arrange the prosciutto on a parchment-lined baking sheet, then bake for about 10 minutes. Get that prosciutto crispy!

Here’s a little tip: Make some extra for snacks! I always find that a few pieces disappear; my brothers sneak pieces all the time!

Step 2: slice the rolls

Take the dinner rolls and slice them in half. I wish the rolls came pre-sliced, but I have yet to find any already sliced on the market!

Step 3: add the main ingredients

Spread the fig preserves over the bottom of the rolls, then add both cheese and the prosciutto.

Put the top half of the rolls over the prosciutto.

Step 4: make the butter sauce

Mix the melted butter with Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, fresh thyme, garlic, and some black pepper.

Pour the butter sauce over the rolls.

Step 5: bake and serve

All you do now is bake! Get that cheese melty! The rolls will smell so delicious as they bake away!

Slice the rolls and serve them warm. I like to garnish with fresh thyme, which I just think is so pretty this time of year! It gets you right in the holiday mood.

Just as great for Thanksgiving as they will be for all upcoming holiday gatherings!

Absolutely delicious combination!!! BUT, a few slight tweaks need to be made (in my humble opinion) 3oz of prosciutto was not near enough, after crisping, to cover the 12 slider buns. I used 6oz. Also 1/4 a cup of fig preserves barely covered 1/2 with a very thin layer. 1/2 cup worked much better! Otherwise it’s an awesome recipe! Brought it to two parties so far…everyone loves them. Thx so much for the inspiration!

Made these to test them out for a Xmas party where I am taking an appetizer. Oh, my goodness, Tieghan!! My husband devoured them! He said they need to go on dinner rotation – so, with them being yummy AND easy, I put them there! So next week we’ll devour them again.

These were perfect for a football Saturday lunch! Next time I will add some more prosciutto as I think we needed a little more meat. The flavors were all spectacular and it was the perfect mix of cheesiness. Thank you for a great recipe!

  9. SDL says:

Did I miss the step where you add the poppy seeds?

    1. Tieghan says:

      Hi there,
You can add the poppyseeds in step 4. Please let me know if you have any other questions! x

  10. Jill Harris says:

This recipe sounds so delish. How do we prep and finish them off at elsewhere. I’d like to prep them as an app, and then transport them for Thanksgiving. I can’t imagine taking oven space to bake them while the turkey is in the oven. Thoughts? Happy Thanksgiving! –
    Jill

    1. Tieghan says:

      Hi Jill,
You can full make them and wrap them individually in foil, that will keep them warm for serving. I hope you love this recipe! xx

  11. Jen says:

I think you need to find a different calorie calculator. Just one of the rolls you linked has 90 calories. I find it hard to believe the rest of the ingredients total 25 calories. I know you say you have to do this “for Google,” but you’ve said often what a perfectionist you are, so you might as well do it well, right?

  12. Debra M. says:

Hi Tieghan- did you conflate the poppyseeds in the ingredients list with black pepper in the instructions? I’m definitely going to try this recipe!

    1. Tieghan says:

      Hi Debra,
Yes, you are going to add the poppyseeds in step 4. I hope you love this recipe! Happy Thanksgiving! xx

  13. Diane says:

Would another cheese work instead of the fontina and swiss

    1. Tieghan says:

      Hi Diane,
Sure, you could really use any cheeses that you enjoy. Please let me know if you have any other questions! xx

Sooooo I made these with the apple cider smothered chicken that me and my family are so obsessed with. Instead of adding the prosciutto and Gruyère to the chicken dish I made these sandwiches. I’m not going to lie to you… this was the best thing I’ve ever made or eaten. All of the combinations of flavors just made my soul sing. It’s winter and carbs don’t count and I can’t wait to make this combo all winter long. So so so good.

Btw I added white beans to the chicken dish and it was an awesome added texture!

Please never stop making amazing creations!!! Not be to dramatic but I’d probably starve without your recipes

    1. Tieghan says:

      Hey Grace,
Fantastic! I’m so glad to hear this recipe turned out well for you, thanks for making it! Thanks for sharing everything that worked well for you, such a great idea:) XxT

      Thanks so much, Kristina!!

    2. Destiny Grakauskas says:

Any other sort of preserves you’d recommend using? Can’t find the fig.

      1. Tieghan says:

        Hi Destiny,
Honey would also work nicely for you. I hope you love this recipe, please let me know if you give it a try! xx
