Say hello to my favorite Christmas gift of the year!
Homemade Hot Toddy Kits…probably just the coziest and cutest thing I’ve ever made! I’m not sure if you guys are into me posting holiday gifts and such, but I’m hoping you are because I am having so much fun with it! I actually had another post planned for today, but if fell through at the last-minute. However, Friday night I was getting all crafty, making Hot Toddy Kits as gifts. It’s pretty obvious I’m into homemade foodie gifts, but as I was talking with my bother Brendan, who loves Hot Toddy’s more than anyone I know, he was trying to get me to post a hot toddy recipe. Thing is, hot toddy’s are just so simple, so I wasn’t that into telling you guys about a recipe you could probably just whip up on your own. But then I had the idea of showing you how I make my hot toddy KITS, and suddenly everything just kind of came together…and here we are!
Me being me, I had to make this the coziest gift kit ever, and include things like a scarf, homemade cookies and a cute little ornament…you know, for good measure. I honestly cannot help it. It’s freezing cold here and all I want to do is stay bundled in my blankets. Even my cat will not go outside. I guess it’s too cold, but I mean, he NEEDS to go outside. I cannot take all of his energy, he’s driving me insane. I didn’t know a cat could have so much energy. Oh my gosh.
Anyway, point is that I am loving all the cozy things, and this kit is really just a refection of that. Most of the items I used to make the kit I bought at Target (the box and scarf), but the glass jar for the bourbon I bought on Amazon. For the honey, I used a cute little glass honey jar from Bee Lovely Botanicals, but you can use any small jar that you have in your pantry. The rest of the box is just spices and some homemade cookies! I figured that if we’re gifting someone a warm drink, they’ll need a yummy cookie to eat alongside, I mean, obviously!
Putting this all together is really easy. Once you have your box, you’ll just need to gather a few kitchen ingredients (honey, bourbon, citrus, and spices), find a fun mug, and start putting it all together. If you’d rather not include a scarf in your gift, just replace it with shredded crinkle cut paper. Feel free to be creative and use things that you feel are going to make your kit personal to the person receiving it. Just be sure to have fun putting your kit together…maybe even drink a hot toddy and snack on a cookie. <–yes DO THIS, perfect Sunday activities.
Below is my recipe for a Hot Toddy for you to make and enjoy…or for you to include in your kit! My brother Malachi made us all another cute recipe card to easily print off!! You can get the PDF here: Hot Toddy Recipe Card

Happy Hot Toddy making!!
What size mug does this best work for, with the extras included (anise, cloves, cinnamon stick)?
Hey Kelly! I used a 12 ounce mug and it worked great, but I think 8 ounce would be fine too!
Okay thank you!!
What a clever and super cute gift idea!
Thank you Lori!
i love this cozy gift!! food gifts always make the best gifts – especially for people you don’t know all too well & hot toddys are delicous!!
Yes! So perfect!! Thanks Jess!!
Tieghan, this is so freaking cute! Yes I love all the homemade gifts. I think they’re more appreciated because they’re more personalized and more thought goes into it. You are yet again giving me an inspiration to do something like this especially with very easy recipes like drinks. Oh and love those tiny bottles too! 😉
Awh thank you Sheila!! Handmade gifts are so fun!! I think so too!!
So happy you like it all girl!! Thanks!!
A great idea. Too bad one cannot edit the card. Anise is spelled incorrectly and there is a “the’ in the last line of the directions that does not belong.
A great idea though!!
Hey Joe, thanks so much for the heads up. All is fixed.
Love, love, freakin’ LOVE this gift idea! Thank you so much! I always admire your recipes and photography. Merry Christmas! 🙂
Awh, thanks so much Amy!! So nice (: Merry Christmas!!
I just adore this, Tieghan! Such a cute gift idea 🙂
Thanks Laura!! Are you going to try them!!?
If coziness could be wrapped up in a gift, this would be it. I absolutely love this, Tieghan!! 😀
Awh yay! Thanks so much Sarah!
Oh I love foodie gifts! I might have to do something like this for friends. Have a great week! 🙂
Hope you get to Caroline!! Thanks you to!
I. LOVE. THIS. IDEA. I have so many extra Christmas cookie tins that I have not quite wanted to take to the thrift store, and this is such a great way for broke-student-me to make a couple of gifts this year for people who are IMPOSSIBLE to buy for because they are (a) picky and (b) have everything. YES. THANK YOU!
YAY!! SO perfect!! So happy you like the idea Kate!! Hope everyone loves them(:
Love it! Love homemade Christmas gifts – they are the best! The mug is very cute and so are the tiny bottles! 🙂
thanks Julia! The little bottles are my favorite!!
Where did you find the bottles?! ?
They where honey jars I bought from the farmers market, but Crate and Barrel used to have similar ones too! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Please let me know if you have other questions. Hope you love this recipe! Thanks! 🙂

Thank you Ruth! (:
Good Morning.
The Clemetine is just for looks, correct?
Nutmeg? in the Ingredients but not directions.
Hope you are having a good Sunday.
Leslie
Hey Leslie! I actually use the clementine juice in my Toddy, it’s a nice twist, but you can use lemon if you prefer. Nutmeg has been added, sorry about that! Let me know if you have questions. Thank you!
