And we are back! Itโs finally cocktail Saturday!!

Whoop. Whoop.
I am so excited to share todayโs Brazilian inspired cocktail. Have you guys ever heard of a Caipirinha? Up until recentlyย Iโd never heard of one. Apparently, itโs Brazilโs national cocktail. Traditionally itโs made with cachaรงa (very similar to white rum), sugar, and lime. Kind of like a mojito, just minus the rum and mint.ย When I came across this cocktail the other week, I knew I had to try itโฆbut with my own little twist (of course)! Seeing as theย winter citrus season is in full swing, a minty grapefruit Caipirinha sounded pretty perfect, and trust meโฆit is!
This drink is refreshing, simple, and makes for the most perfect Saturday cocktail!
Traditionally, sugar is used in making this cocktail, but since I try to avoid sugary drinks at all cost, in my version here, I opted out of the sugar. As a substitute, I found that using freshly squeezed grapefruit juice added just the right amount of sweetness. That said, if you prefer a sweeter drink, feel free to add a teaspoon or two of white sugar or possibly honey for healthier sweeter version. When muddling the lime into you drink, just muddle the sugar or honey in as well. Other than that little note, this drink is very straight forwardโฆ
โฆfresh lime
โฆfresh mint
โฆcrushed ice
โฆcachaรงa (white rum can be used if you donโt want to buyย cachaรงa just for this drinkโฆalthough I do recommend trying it as itโs delish!)
โฆfreshly squeezed grapefruit juice
โฆsparkling water (not traditional, but I LOVE a fizzy drink)
Muddle everything in a glass, top with sparkles and drink. Simple as that and possibly one of the best drinks out there! <โfor real, I love this one!
Happy Saturday! Hope you all have a great day and are able to end it with this minty grapefruit caipirinha in hand!

Hahah so glad you did!! Thank you! xTieghan
Hi… That combination looks good! But, as a brazilian, I gotta tell you that we never put rum on a capirinha. Those purists will only accept cachaรงa on it (regular or aged in oak barrels). I personally don’t like cachaรงa… So I prefer the other version we have here: CAIPIROSKA (here, we use vodka instead). Some people prefer an even lighter version called SAKEIRINHA, with japanese sake instead of cachaรงa. People who don’t like sugar may put sweeteners like sucralose instead! ?
Thank you so much Gui! I am so glad you let me know this!
