This old-school Holiday Pretzel Mix is one that everyone looks forward to year after year. Mini pretzel sticks and mixed nuts tossed in seasoned butter made with Worcestershire, Dijon, garlic, pepper, and cayenne. This mix is the yummiest. Each salty pretzel is perfectly seasoned, buttery, crunchy, and spicy. Serve these at your next party, or package them up for gifting!

Half Baked Harvest At Home

20+ new recipes for wholesome comfort food made with everyday ingredients. Pre-order today! HBH At Home will be released on Tuesday, February 23rd!

This is the only time of year I ever make food like this, but that’s what makes these holiday recipes feel so special. We don’t make these recipes year round. So when the time comes to cook and bake our favorite holiday recipes, everyone is most excited!!

I love holiday traditions! Growing up in the Midwest, Chex Mix was very big around the holidays. If your family didn’t make Check Mix, they’d make some kind of salty pretzel or maybe both!

My parents always have a house full of people. The second my family starts piling in, they’re looking for the snacks. This is the one time of year I’m constantly making recipes to snack on before dinner.

We’ve always made my mom’s Chex mix on Christmas Eve, but for the past few years, I started making these salty pretzels with a kick. We’ve all fallen in love with this retro-style recipe. Once you start snacking, you can’t stop!

This is a great recipe to make and gift as well. Teachers, friends, and coworkers will all adore these pretzels!

Steps

Step 1: arrange the pretzels and nuts

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. The parchment is more for easier clean up than anything else. You can decide to use it or not!

Then, spread a bag of pretzels out over the pan. Add a handful of mixed nuts. My nuts are roasted and salted.

Step 2: make the butter sauce

Mix the melted butter with Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon pepper seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne, and some black pepper.

Pour the butter sauce over the pretzels and nuts. Toss the pretzels for a good 2-3 minutes, making sure the butter sauce coats every pretzel!

Step 3: bake

All that’s left to do now is bake! Low and slow for about 30-40 minutes. I like some of my pretzels a little more toasty and some to be done just right!

For even cooking, toss the mix 2 to 3 times throughout baking.

Enjoy!

My favorite way to serve these is family-style. Everyone begins to shuffle in around 4 or 5 pm, looking for appetizers and a before-dinner drink. It really wouldn’t be the holidays without these pretzels, a great cheese board (times 10 because I make them every night), and a festive drink!

Another way to serve these is to gift them. Package them in a cookie tin or find a cute holiday food bag. These are great hostess gifts, teacher gifts, or gifts for friends and family! You can even ship them!

I’m super excited to share this recipe with you all! I hope you love the pretzels as much as we do!

    4 stars
The first time I made these I baked according to recipe timing and it was all completely burned. I threw it out and made it again the next day but baked them for a total of 15 minutes and they turned out very well. The flavours are good. I left out the lemon pepper

    1. Tieghan Gerard says:

      Hey Anne,
Happy Friday!! I’m so glad to hear this recipe was enjoyed, thanks for making it and your comment!

      Have a wonderful holiday season!🎄

  2. Elizabeth says:

Are the pretzels just as good without the nuts or do the nuts just simply compliment the pretzels? I plan to make this recipe just need your opinion. Thanks!!!

    1. Tieghan Gerard says:

      Hey Elizabeth,
The nuts compliment the pretzels nicely, but if you want to omit them that would be okay to do.

I hope you love this recipe!

  3. Nancy Benedict says:

I don’t understand why it asks for a cup,of mixed nuts. They totally fail to bottom and get lost Not the best recipe

    1. Tieghan Gerard says:

      Hi Nancy,
Just toss them around a bit:) Happy Thanksgiving!

  4. Lindsay says:

Usually have great success with your recipes. I checked these after about 15 minutes and they were already burning and past done. Would suggest to others to try a lower temp (more in the 250 range to toast) and much less cook time! Happy Holidays!

    1. Tieghan says:

      Hi Lindsay,
Thanks so much for trying this recipe and so many others! So sorry this cooked so quickly for you, I hope it still tasted okay. Happy New Year! xx

    2. Jarrett Trezzo says:

Gotta be your oven, mine took almost an hour.

  5. Whitney Williams says:

    Mixed nuts- salted or unsalted?

    1. Tieghan says:

      Hi Whitney,
I would go with unsalted just so you don’t have too much salt happening:) I hope you love this recipe! xT

  6. Natalie E says:

What do you suggest if we don’t have lemon pepper seasoning? Can find any at my local stores in Ontario 🙁
    Thanks

    1. Tieghan says:

      Hey Natalie,
I would try black pepper and some really well grated lemon zest. I hope this helps! xx

  7. Gail Hubble says:

These were so good. I took them to my work place and everyone said they were so good. Could I make some more. Better than chex mix.

    1. Tieghan says:

      Hey Gail,
Fantastic!! I’m so glad to hear this recipe turned out nicely for you, thanks a bunch for making it! Have the best week!🎄☃️ xT

  8. Stephanie says:

Would anything work for a substitute for the Worcestershire sauce due to celiac?

    Thanks!

    1. Tieghan says:

      Hi Stephanie,
I would suggest soy sauce, but I don’t think you can use that either….how about coconut aminos? That would work nicely! Let me know if I can help in any other way! xx

    2. Carol says:

“French’s” Worcestershire is gluten free….made in Canada but amazon maybe sells? We buy it for our grandson. Hope this helps!

    3. Kelly says:

The most popular Worcestershire “Lea and Perrins” is GF, I’m celiac and have been using it for years!

  9. Angel says:

Can you substitute goldfish instead of nuts?

    1. Tieghan says:

      Hi Angel,
Sure, goldfish would be a fun addition! I hope you love this recipe! Happy Holidays! xT

  10. Lee says:

Hmmmmm salted nuts, salted pretzels, and salted butter. Maybe this is finally the recipe where you don’t need to use the salted butter you always insist on……just a thought.

    1. Tieghan says:

      Hi Alice,
Feel free to use unsalted butter to your liking:) Happy Holidays! xx
