Weโre so close to summer! I know everyoneโs excitement is building, with Memorial Day just one week from today. Weโre making summer plans, searching for new recipes, and getting excited for whatโs to come!
I knew these skewers would be wonderful for this week. Now that the weather is turning to summery temperatures, theyโre great for throwing on the grill. If youโre planning any kind of Memorial Day party, I highly recommend making these!

Lately, Iโve been having a lot of fun creating new beef recipes. Iโve shared so many chicken recipes over the last 12 years, but not nearly the same amount of beef. But Iโm coming up with so many fun summer beef ideas.
We love Asian-style dinners, so these skewers are perfect for us. Iโve already made them three times this month!
I love to serve the skewers bowl-style with coconut rice and a simple mix of avocado, lime, cilantro, basil, toasted sesame seeds, and a pinch of flaky sea salt.
So delicious!

Here are the Details
Step 1: make the peanut sauce
This sauce is my favorite. When I first started making it, I used to make it with coconut milk, but now I make it even simpler. Itโs a mix of peanut butter (I love Whole Foods 365 creamy peanut butter with just peanuts and salt), tamari (you can, of course, use soy sauce or coconut aminos), Thai red curry paste, pickled ginger (often labeled as sushi ginger), and toasted sesame oil.
I find it easiest to blend the sauce in a blender, food processor, or use an immersion blender to get it really creamy!

Step 2: the steak
I kept this so simple. Use a skirt or flank steak and cut the meat into cubes.
Then mix the steak with sweet Thai chili sauce, tamari (or soy), lots of garlic and ginger, and some chili paste (either Thai or Korean Gochujang). If you have time, let the steak marinate for an hour or even all day long to deepen the flavors.
Step 3: thread the steak onto skewers and grill
Thread the marinated steak onto the skewers. If you want, you could also add chunks of pineapple to each skewerโthat would be so delicious!
Heat your grill and cook each skewer until light grill marks appear around the steak.

Step 4: serving
While the steak is cooking, I like to mix slices of avocado with lime juice, cilantro, basil, and sesame seeds.
I also make a pot of coconut rice! Then, I love to serve the skewers over the rice. Top with lots of peanut sauce, and enjoy the avocado on the side.
Be generous with the peanut dipping sauce, youโll love it! I swear itโs addicting.
Enjoy immediately. These skewers are so little effort, and so delicious and fun!
Everyone in my family has agreed that they could easily eat this once or twice a week. The steak is perfectionโspicy, sweet, and tangyโand the sauce is everyoneโs favoriteโcreamy, peanutty, and salty!

Hey Holly,
Happy Monday!! Thrilled to hear this recipe was enjoyed, thanks for making it and your feedback!๐ท
Made these tonight with chicken breast, onions, red bell pepper and grape tomatoes on skewers. Donโt have a grill so I put them on a wire rack on a cookie sheet and broiled them on high for 10 minutes. Turned out perfect and charred. Unlike other comments I didnโt find it to be salty at all! I added a little bit of sugar to the peanut sauce just incase. Super tasty!
Hi Cora,
Happy Monday! So glad to hear this recipe was enjoyed, thanks for making it and your comment!!
how far in advance can I marinate
Hi Hannah! You could marinate this up to 24 hours in advance! ๐ xT
This was delicious. I will say the peanut sauce was way too salty, so we had to dilute it. In the future we will use low sodium soy!
The meat was so flavorful . We made it with coconut rice and that went great with it.
Hi Alisha,
Happy Holidays!! I’m so glad you enjoyed this recipe and appreciate you making it! Thanks for your comment:) xx
Everyone loved it and asked for the recipe. Loved how easy the marinade was but soooo full of flavor. Highly recommend. We didnโt even make the peanut sauce.
Hey Grace,
Happy Sunday!! So glad to hear that this recipe turned out well for you, thanks for making it! xT
No mention of where you add the sesame oil to the beef???? This is not the first time I have looked at or used one of your recipes and an ingredient you mention in the write up isn’t in the recipe! I see it’s in the peanut sauce, but not in the beef marinade and you specifically say above the beef is made with the sesame oil “The beef is made with Thai chili sauce, ginger, and sesame oil, then grilled until lightly charred around the edges”
Can you clarify???
Hi Sandra,
So sorry for any confusion, but you can follow the recipe exactly as written. I hope you love this dish, please let me know if you give it a try! xT
I substituted Chicken for the Steak and added Red Peppers to the skewers. Wonderful!
Thanks so much, Kym! Love to hear that this recipe turned out nicely for you:) Have a great week! xT
Do you know where you purchased the serving bowl that this recipe is photographed with? I’m obsessed!
