Nine Favorite Things

Hello from Chicago! As I write this, it’s a pretty cozy fall day here. I’ll be heading home first thing tomorrow, but tonight one last event with Williams Sonoma. Our Snif event on Thursday night could not have gone any better. I’m so excited to have officially launched the Pumpkin Smash candle in select Ulta Beauty stores across the US. It’s so much fun!

If you wander into your local Ulta store and spot the candle, please please, share it with me on social. It’s incredible to see everyone burning the candle. It’s the perfect cozy scent for this time of year. And as I said last year, this candle has been one of my favorite projects to work on. I love sharing it with you all!

A quick note to everyone who filled the Chicago Ulta beauty store, thank you all for coming out in the rain to support (and for waiting in line). I LOVED meeting all of you. Your stories melted my heart this week. Thank you again!

Chicago has been amazing. We had dinner at Gilt Bar with the Snif team after the event. Both the food and vibe were the perfect way to end the night. I’m currently cramming in some work before tonight’s event with Williams Sonoma. More to come next week on that. I just want to add that Fall in the Midwest is always so special.

I think that’s all I have for this week! Sharing a lighter post today since these posts can be hard to put together while traveling. Back to normal next week.

Hope you have a very cozy, late October Sunday!

1. Things I’m loving, wanting, and excited to try.

loving…fancy matches for easy holiday hostess gifts or stocking stuffers. I’d order the Ridged Glass or the Skeem Glass. Also love these Fluted Taper Candles. I have them in red and yellow. These Whittled Taper Candles are so pretty too, I actually just added them to my cart for holiday tablescapes.

wanting…new UGGs for fall/winter. The tazz braid slipper and classic cloudpeak boot are currently in my FWRD shopping cart. The Tasman slipper is great too.

everything in my cart (low)…from Zara, I’m very much into their new knit bomber jacket. They have great sweaters this season. This knit cardigan with pockets, tied textured knit top, and embroidered knit cardigan are all in my cart. This gold-button-soft-touch-jacket is really cute too.

This is a great leather jacket from ASOS. Also loving the Free People, Miller Faux Leather Jacket.

If you’re shopping H&M, I like this red mini skirt and would pair it with a cozy red sweater or maybe this top in red. Festive for upcoming holidays.

listening to…Celebrating Your Failures, The Importance of Relationships, and Carving Your Own Path with Valeria Lipovetsky.

dreaming of going…Soho Beach House Canouan. This resort looks really nice. My family went last March and loved it!

loving…the idea of a storage cabinet for displaying pretty dishes. The Fern Storage Cabinet from Anthro caught my eye. It is so pretty.

reading…Call It Home: The Details That Matter. The prettiest interior design book of the year. If you love home decor and are always looking for inspiration, read this book from front to back. The photos are stunning.

gifting…this Luxe Faux Fur Throw Blanket. Honestly, this just looks so cozy. The perfect blanket to snuggle up in while burning your favorite candle and watching your most cherished fall show. Also, these Santa Maria novella melograno wax tablets. These would be awesome as stocking stuffers and would be a really cute hostess gift.

everything in my cart (beauty)…for the lips, Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm for Hydration & Shine, LAWLESS Forget The Filler Overnight Lip Plumping Mask

Mothership X Eyeshadow Palette: Moonlit Seduction Sephora and LiquiLUST: Legendary Wear Matte Lipstick.

watching…What Is Kendall Jenner’s Roman Empire? I always love watching these Vogue videos. Kendall discusses how she packs and tells what’s in her bag, fun!

ordering…Halloween Slice & Bake Cookies. These are so cute and if you’re not a baker, these are a total shortcut to Halloween entertaining.

loving…Pure Matte 50 Semisheer Tights from Falke. I’ve gotten these in so many colors. They’re great for fall and winter.

everything in my cart (high)…I could not love the new Coach line Coachtopia more. It’s so fun and they just launched this Quilted Puffer Jacket. The second it’s back in stock, I’m ordering, so cute.

Loving this cute Carhartt Work In Progress – Black Zip Jacket. I’m also really into vests this season and think this Braided Vest is cute. And this Shearling Jacket would be such a splurge, but I’d love to add it to my cart. For something leather, this is a super cute leather top from Nanushka.

Sweaters, this cropped cable-knit sweater from Love Shack Fancy is very cute. I love the cropped fit and the braiding around the neck.

Lastly, I love these Saint Laurent patent leather slingback pumps. Yes, another splurge, but so pretty!

reading…How to Be a Good Dinner Guest: Seven Rules. Things to keep in mind this holiday season.

shopping…Artificial Christmas Trees over on Balsam Hill. These are on sale for the brand’s anniversary. If you need a new tree, get one now.

And if you’re looking for an easier way to get a real tree, try Christmas Trees In The Mail!

excited to try…one of these 25 Best Christmas Towns in the U.S. Number 18, Telluride, would certainly be up at the top of my list.

  1. Your posts are so detailed and I appreciate all the effort you make. Would love it if you could come to Toronto. We love you in Canada !

  2. Hello Tieghan! It looks like you are working hard AND having fun. Chicago was lucky to have you. I waited for a rainy, cozy day to light my Snif pumpkin candle and it delivered. I wanted to attach a pic, but no go. Your look on Instagram is great – beautiful makeup. If anyone else reads this: Tieghan has a family who care for her, we don’t need to worry about her weight, her skin, etc. etc. Live your life, Tieghan! I know we all care, but let’s have boundaries.
    Peace and love!

  3. What filters or editing apps do you use for your photos? I live near the lakefront path in Chicago and my photos never turn out like the one you posted above lol. It looks great! Please share if you can!

  4. Hope you enjoy your last day here in the beautiful “windy city”. The sun is shining today and the colors are really popping! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for Thanksgiving.

  5. Girl I love you but Chicago is not East lol! The Midwest experiences beautiful fall weather too, it’s completely ok to label it correctly!

  6. Tieghan-

First, I have greatly enjoyed your blog over the years; it is my Sunday ‘treat.’

As for a Thanksgiving request, it is more of a Black Friday clothes/beauty request.

I was hoping you (with input from Asher) could do a ‘worth it’ beauty/clothing buy list. In other words, items that you have enjoyed the most this year. I have definitely tried several of your recommendations over the years, but an edited version highlighting your favorites would be appreciated. Thanks!

  7. TJ’s Cinnamon Bub Spread for the win.
It is so deliciously addictive. I could eat it right out of the jar but I ration it. I have purchases enough jars to last me through the months until it is available again.

  8. Hello!!
Regarding Thanksgiving requests — would you please, please, please consider doing a sweet potato pudding, a little heavy on the nutmeg? I just can’t seem to get it right and no one will share their recipes with me! 😅 I wouldn’t ask many to do it, but you’re so awesome and creative!

Thanks for all you do. You have helped me become a better cook!

    1. Hi there! Thanks for the request! Honestly I’m not too familiar with sweet potato pudding, but I’ll have to check it out! xT

  9. Just because Chicago is East of Colorado does not make it part of the Eastern region of the US. Illinois is most definitely in the Midwest.

  10. Love that blue sweater on you! I think the bright colors suit you! Maybe it’s time to take more fashion risks and move away from the drab baggy black outfits!

  11. Guilt Bar or Gilt Bar? I’m heading to Chicago in a few weeks and want to make sure I’m looking up the correct restaurant, the food looked incredible! Can we get a second set of eyes on the spelling?

    1. She spelled it correctly. Also, all you had to do was google it, and you’d see there’s no Guilt Bar in Chicago. Can we get people able to do things for themselves?

      1. It was spelled Guilt bar when I read this morning! I googled the restaurant and found Gilt. I based my initial search off of what Tieghan published in this blog. I’m not familiar with the Chicago restaurant scene so I just wanted to double check that I was looking at the right place. I sincerely meant no harm.

  12. Here in South Florida it’s sometimes difficult to get into the Autumn mood, but these wonderful recipes and photos help. Thanks!

  13. Happy Almost Halloween! My favourite way to start Sunday is a home made latte & reading Nine Fav Things.
Thanksgiving at our house is small-usually just me & my wife, sometimes her brother is able to join us. They eat turkey, I do not (I can cook it & make gravy but I’m vegetarian). Of course we have to have all the sides: my cornbread stuffing -hers comes from the box! I make/eat pie-she does not. (Black bottom pumpkin pie is the BEST!)
I have a list of what to start when, starting with the time we plan to eat & working backwards. Ex: eating at 6 means the turkey breast goes into the oven at… you get the idea. Cranberry sauce & pie is made ahead of time, asparagus is trimmed and washed the day before. Yeast rolls are started in the morning…
Our area has a Thanksgiving tradition of a fundraising walk for the local cat rescue, so we dress warmly, pack up the dog and our donations & head over there to walk about a mile.
The rest of the day is football, a cozy fire, watching the cats get into mischief & eating!

    1. Happy almost Halloween to you too, Dale! Thank you so much for this comment! Sounds like you all have quite a fun Thanksgiving ahead of you! xT

  14. Another wonderful 9 Favourites this week and I love seeing and hearing all about your travels. Maybe one day you could visit the UK? Just a thought haha 😉
Next week I will be making a couple of your spooky treats and taking them into the office. I love the ghost chocolate bars and the spider cookies and I’m sure that my work colleagues will love them also.
Ideas for a new recipe or two that feature either cranberries or dried apricots with white chocolate. For main eats a warming beef recipe would be great.
It is a lovely bright and sunny Sunday in the southern part of the UK. Today I need to pick the remainder of the tomatoes outside and make some green tomato chutney.
Enjoy the rest of your travels and have a great week.

    1. Thank you so much Colleen! I’m so glad you’re loving the spooky treats, and I hope your colleagues enjoy them as well! Have an amazing week! xT
