I’ve gotten really excited for summer over the last couple of weeks. It’s still snowing here, but I can’t wait for our trees to be green again and for mild temperatures to be back. It’s exciting knowing just how close we’re getting to the long summer days and nights we all love!

Since I’ve been dreaming of summertime, and honestly after spending time in Miami, I’ve been thinking up frozen recipes. So many fun ideas this season!!

I have a long list on my notes app and I just keep adding more daily. But we all know the combination of chocolate and peanut butter excites my family most. I shared this idea for these creamy popsicles with my mom and immediately she told me I must make them!!

I held out as long as I could. But after a few warmer teaser days, I caved in! I just needed to make these!!!

The details

So these banana popsicles are the simplest. I love that they are not super sweet, but yet still taste and feel so indulgent thanks to their creaminess.

The first step is to make the peanut butter banana popsicles. A very simple mix of Greek yogurt, peanut butter, bananas, and vanilla extract. Just 4 simple ingredients for the base!

Add all ingredients to a blender, no need to slice the bananas. Just blend them up until creamy.

I will note that I personally love to use plain Greek yogurt. But if you have a lot of cottage cheese lying around, you can replace the yogurt with cottage cheese. However, I think that yogurt gives a better taste and texture.

And then, my only other note is about sweetness. These popsicles are only sweetened by the bananas and chocolate, there’s no added sugar. If you think you’d like something sweeter, I recommend blending in 2-6 dates or adding 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup.

Pour the creamy banana peanut mix into popsicle molds, or keep it simple and use paper Dixie Cups. Then freeze!!

Now the chocolate. I use a dark chocolate bar and coconut oil to create a homemade “magic shell”. Just melt the ingredients together.

Once the chocolate is melted, smash the pretzels into crumbs. Dip each frozen popsicle into the magic shell, then roll through the pretzel crumbs! It’s honestly a really fun process if you’re looking for your kids to help. And super easy for them too!

And of course, the end result is deliciousness!!!

Most importantly, these pops are actually creamy, actually have real chocolate, and they’re made so much healthier than any store-bought options.

And then there’s that layer of crushed pretzels. Is it needed? Nope, but these are so delicious with salted pretzels. Creamy, sweet, and salty! So yummmmyy!

LOVE the flavor. Super easy to make. My only complaint is that I can’t get them out of the molds. I forced 4 of them out and put the other 6 back in the freezer. Hoping that giving them longer to freeze will help. But – with it being so hot – I’ve been craving a healthier cold treat and these hit the spot.

I also made your no church chocolate peanut butter ice cream and mixed some of that recipe with the rest of the mix from this recipe. I think that combo is going to be delicious.

    1. Hi Liz,
Wonderful!! I’m so glad to hear that this recipe was a winner, I appreciate you making it and your comment! It depends on the kind of molds you are using, but I would try running them under hot water for a few seconds! xx

      1. Thanks Teighan! Quick Update – I let them sit longer in the freezer and was able to get them out of the molds much more easily! I will have to remember that next time. Love these!

  2. Hi! I made these and used the silver molds that you linked to. I put them in the freezer overnight, but I can’t pull them out of the mold. Please advise how to remove them from the mold.

    1. Hi Yelda,
Thanks so much for giving this recipe a try! Try running the molds under hot water, that should help to release the popsicles:) Please let me know if you have any other questions! xT

    1. Hi Annie,
Yes, those instructions are in step 3:) Please let me know if there is anything else that I can help with! xT

  4. would this mixture work ok in a loaf pan if i don’t have popsicle molds as more of an ice cream?

    1. Hey Lisa,
Sure, I don’t see why not! You could also use dixie cups and popsicle sticks, that works well too! Let me know if you give the recipe a try! xT

    1. Hi Cindy,
Totally up to you and what size you want to make these:) Let me know if you give this recipe a try, I hope you love it! xT

        Thank you!!

  5. These look amazing! I ran out & bought popsicle molds last night & just made them. What kind of oil can I use if I don’t have coconut oil?

    1. Thanks so much Valerie!! You could use another neutral oil, but I think coconut oil has the best flavor for these:) Let me know if you give the recipe a try! xT

  6. Heads up for editing so you don’t get lots of questions. In the first paragraph, you said only 3 ingredients and left off bananas. Since banana is in the title wanted to help avoid questions later. (Not a criticism as this looks great)

    1. Thanks so much for letting me know Kindal!! I hope you love this recipe, let me know if you give it a try! xx

  7. Is there anything you can use in place of bananas? This looks amazing, but I despise them. Even the smell mskes me nauseous. I detect the smallest hint of them even when mixed in with other flavors.

  8. These sound delicious and I can’t wait to try them! This is probably a silly question, but how do you store the popsicles in the freezer once they’ve been dipped in chocolate/pretzel pieces?

    1. Hey Emily,
Thanks so much!! You could wrap them individually or layer them in an airtight container with wax paper. Whatever is easier for you! I hope you love this recipe! xT
