Bring on the winter snow with my Christmas Snowstorm Margarita. Silver tequila mixed with a splash of coconut rum, orange liqueur, a touch of fresh lime juice, and sweet coconut milk. This white Christmas margarita recipe is a cozy take on the classic, and the perfect wintry margarita to sip on a snowy night.ย Finish these snowy margaritas off with sugared cranberries for a pop of festive red color. I even included the recipe to fill a large pitcher.

And Iโ€™m back with yet another round of Christmas cocktails. Some of you may find the flavors in this drink a bit oddโ€ฆnot sure. But what I am sure of, is that even though this is not your traditional margarita, itโ€™s delicious and so fun! Because letโ€™s be real, who doesnโ€™t dream of a snow filled Christmas with a yummy drink in hand?!

OK fine, I guess there are probably a lot of you who may not prefer a snowy Christmas. But around here, everyone wants the snowiest of Christmasโ€™. We all wish for a snowstorm every Christmas Eveโ€ฆand beforeโ€ฆand after. I canโ€™t control the weather, so I figured I would guarantee some snow, with an extra โ€œsnowyโ€ cocktail. Iโ€™ve been dying to make this margarita for months now. Inspired by my White Christmas Mojito, I wanted to reinvent that snowy cocktail into a margarita!

Enter my Christmas Snowstorm Margarita. Itโ€™s made with tequila, a splash of coconut rum, has hints of citrus, and is just a little bit coconutty. Oh, and with a bit of sweetened coconut milkโ€ฆ

Kind of tropical, but yet so wintry at the same time. I love it!

Hereโ€™s how you make this.

Instead of using a simple syrup mixture in this margarita, I sweetened up the coconut milk with a touch of honey (you can also use sugar). I find it easiest to warm the coconut milk and honey together on the stove, then chill. All you need to add is a touch of sweetness and this margarita will be perfect. Simply use more or less honey (or sugar) to your taste.

Once the coconut milk has chilled, mix it with the blanco tequila, coconut rum, orange liqueur, and a squeeze of lime. Then just pour over ice and top with sugared cranberries, for an extra festive touch.

Delicious!ย

This will be the perfect Christmas Eve drink for our family gathering. They all seem to love a good margarita, so I have no doubt this will be hit.

Oh, and those sugared cranberries? While theyโ€™re not an absolute must, they do add that special touch (and sweetness) that I think all holiday cocktails need. Highly recommend you make a batch soon. They can also be used to garnish drinks, desserts, or just to enjoy as a snack!

Ingredientsย

Instructionsย

  • 1. Bring the coconut milk and sugar to a simmer over medium heat in a small saucepan. Simmer 1 minute, then remove from the heat and let cool. To quickly chill, add a of couple ice cubes.ย
    2. Fill a cocktail glass with ice.ย
    3. In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, coconut rum,ย orange liquor, lime juice, and coconut milk. Shake to mix.ย Strain into your prepared glass. Top with sugared cranberries and mint.ย

Notes

If you are using canned coconut milk (which I prefer), when you pour it over ice it will curdle up a bit if not stirred. Itโ€™s still delicious, but you need to give it a stir before drinking to mix everything around again. And if you make the the pitcher margarita, just be sure to give the batch a good stirring before you serve. The coconut milk can separate from the liquors as it chills.

I added about 1/2 c honey and made these per the pitcher recipe. It separated quickly. I poured the whole thing in the blender with approximately 3 C of ice. They were so delicious! Everyone loved them.

This was so good! I made the mistake of using a jug of coconut milk from the plant based milk section at first. That batch was okay but not creamy enough. I tried again with canned coconut milk and it was perfect! The cranberries are a lovely garnish, but I thought a sprig of rosemary looked more festive than the mint!

    1. Tieghan says:

Hi! Thank you so so much for trying out the recipe! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas! xT

  3. Allie says:

  5. Afton Parker says:

This and so many of your drinks look DELICIOUS! But my family doesn’t drink alcohol, I’ve tried to figure out how to make virgin drink versions of your drinks but haven’t succeeded. I’m wondering if you’d be up for making some great virgin drink options so we can have fun drinks for all ages and non-alcohol folks? Pretty please??

    Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Tieghan Gerard says:

Hey there! I love that idea! I’ll have to work on that ๐Ÿ™‚ xTieghan

  6. Paige says:

Thinking of having this for my New Yearโ€™s Day wedding in Florida! Can you prepare this the day before and serve to guests?

    1. halfbakedharvest says:

      Hey Paige,
Yes that is totally fine, just be sure to see the recipe notes regarding the coconut milk:) I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan

Tropically luscious, an excellent starter to our Christmas Eve dinner!
I did a non-alcoholic version with 2 oranges and 2 limes, and added the sugar-water leftover from the sugared cranberries instead of honey, which made me feel very clever. ha ha
Served over crushed ice, which was very “snowstorm” appropriate, don’t you think?
My guests loved it, and we’re still snacking on the sugared cranberries days later, they are as delicious as they are beautiful.
Thanks, Tieghan, for making me look good yet again!

    1. halfbakedharvest says:

Yes, I love that you served it with crushed ice! Also, I am so glad you enjoyed this margarita, Julie! Thank you!

  8. Analisa says:

Is it possible to make this the night before? OR is it better to make the day of?

    1. halfbakedharvest says:

HI! YOu can certainly make the night before. Just give it a stir before serving. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you loved this recipe and had a great Christmas! Thanks so much and happy Holidays!! xTieghan ?

  9. Jill says:

Did you use coconut milk from the carton, or a can?

    1. halfbakedharvest says:

I always use coconut milk from the can because I love the taste, BUT coconut milk from the carton will mixer into the drink easier. You can use whichever you prefer. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe. Thanks so much!! xTieghan ?

  10. Ruth Miranda says:

    it does look delicious!!

  11. Julie J says:

Great idea, a touch of the tropics for Christmas, mon! I am going to try a virgin version of this, with rum flavoring and orange oil.

I’d like to try rimming the glasses with something festive, maybe a contrasting color, but I’ve never done it before. Any suggestions? I’m going to look through your other drinks for ideas.

    1. halfbakedharvest says:

You could try a colored sanding sugar? That might be festive! Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe. Thanks so much!! xTieghan ?

  12. Karen says:

Could I use 1800 silver coconut tequila and just combine the tequila and rum measuments together? So 2 1/2 oz. for the margarita? Thanks!

    1. halfbakedharvest says:

I am sure that will be great! Love the idea! Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe. Thanks so much!! xTieghan ?
