5 Ingredient Beer Bread…and that includes the salt.

5 Ingredient Beer Bread | halfbakedharvest.com

I was never, ever, planning on posting this bread and not because it’s not amazingly delicious.

Because I promise you, this bread will rock your world. So much so that you may be making it once a week from here on out. It’s just that good and by far the easiest thing I make. Without a doubt.

The only reason I was not going to post this recipe is because it’s embarrassingly easy. One bowl, five-minute prep – tops (seriously tops), and five ingredients that I honestly think most everyone always has on hand.

Flour, baking powder, honey, salt, and beer.

That’s it you guys. And as I already said, it’s honestly one of the best loaves of bread you’ll ever have.

Today is the day I’m giving in and showing you guys one of my most requested recipes.

I’m not lying, I make a lot of food (A LOT). Actually, I make so much food that typically we have two or three freshly baked desserts lying around on any given day. You’d think I would give them away, but I can’t. By the time I’m done shooting them, and by the time my family has gotten their hands on the treats, it looks like an animal got to them.

In all fairness, I do a number on them while photographing, but my family kind of destroys them. Some people pick off their favorite parts first. Some people go straight for the middle. And some people dump the containers upside down, shake em side to side and do a little dance well they’re at it.

My mom actually asked me if I had anything for her to take to this “thing” she had last night. I was like, seriously…sure, if you want to take the bars and that cake…that looks like animals got to it. Yeah, she passed. So I quickly whipped her up a batch of this beer bread. So easy and such a crowd pleaser!

This bread is practically a staple on our dinner table. I mean, we’re having it again tonight.

It’s good enough that I make it when we have people over, bring it with me if we ever actually go anywhere (which is never, but I would) and have even made it on Thanksgiving and Christmas. People love this bread, love, love, love it.

It actually still amazes me how much people love it and how incredibly easy it is. It’s just plain bizarre.

If you are scared of homemade bread, this is the bread to make. You can’t mess it up. Ok, well I’m sure if you added way too much baking powder, dumped in tablespoons of salt, or maybe accidentally grabbed the powdered sugar instead of the flour. Yeah, in that case, I think it would be bad.

But I don’t think that’s going to happen.

I like this bread paired best with homemade chili or gumbo. But it’s also great as a side with roasted chicken, grilled steak, or even leftover for breakfast. I am telling you, this is your new favorite bread. Trust me!

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Grease 9×5 loaf pan with butter.

  1. What a great looking recipe! Are there any substitutes for the beer? We’re not a beer flavor family. Thanks!

    1. Hey Suzanna,
You could use a sparkling cider in place of the beer. Please let me know if you give the recipe a try, I hope you love it! xTieghan

    The BEST beer bread recipe!
I was skeptical about putting pats of butter on top but it makes the exterior crusty and delicious. I used bread flour instead of AP and added a tsp of kosher salt.
I don’t think the photo posted does it justice- my loaves turned out a beautiful golden brown:)

    1. Hi Nicole,

  4. Hi! Is it possible altitude (or lack thereof) could’ve affected my bread? Followed the recipe to a T and it got golden on the outside but was not fully cooked on the inside, especially the middle top. I covered the golden parts with foil to allow the center to keep cooking without everything else burning, but I finally had to call it quits at an hour and 10 minutes because I was too hungry! It was still underdone inside. Just wondering since you are up in the mountains and I’m on the east coast. Thanks!

    1. Hi Alysa,
That definitely should not have been an issue for you. Was there anything you may have adjusted in the recipe? Let me know how I can help! xTieghan

      1. Hmmm I didn’t think I did anything differently, but I’m going to try it again next week and see how it turns out. Thanks for the reply!!

This was delicious but came out a little chewy. I wonder if it’s because I used self rising flour and didn’t add extra baking powder and salt. Or maybe I over mixed it although I didn’t mix it that much? Thoughts? I’d like to make it again but don’t want it to be so chewy next time so suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

    1. Hi Michele,
Thanks for giving the recipe a try, next time I would use the all purpose flour, baking powder, and salt and see how that works. Let me know! xTieghan

I have only ever made beer bread with a pre-made mix. This recipe was SOOO much better and so very easy. The ingredients are something we always have in the house which means I will be making it again, for sure.

I tried this bread over the weekend. It was AMAZING and so easy. Most of the bread I make need a bunch of kneading and proofing time.

I used Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin. Wonderful. The only problem is that is a seasonal flavor, and it was my last one.

This bread made my whole house smell great.

My edges were dark and crispy. I used a black pan. Next time, I will use a lighter color pan.

    Will definitely make again.

I wonder how Ciders would do?

    1. Hey Alisa,
Fantastic!! I am so glad that this recipe was enjoyed, thanks a lot for giving it a try. Ciders would be a great option. Have the best week! xTieghan

Oh… have been wanting to make this. So delicious. So easy! (And I happened to have 1 bottle of pumpkin beer left, so used it!)

Quick question: I super buttered the loaf pan, but the bread still burned on the bottom. Any suggestions?

    1. Hi David,
Fantastic!! I am so glad that this recipe was enjoyed, thanks a lot for giving it a try. What kind of pan did you use? Try baking on a higher rack. Have the best week! xTieghan

This couldn’t be easier, and tasted as good as it smelled baking. I added a Tablespoon of fresh thyme. So, so good! Thank you!

I only had non-alcoholic beer which frankly I’ve been trying to get rid of FOREVER and an 8×8 plan- and it’s SO GOOD! I will probably eat the whole thing myself if my family doesn’t get home soon lol

    1. Hey Chantal,
Happy Friday! Thanks so much for giving this recipe a try, I love to hear that it was enjoyed! xTieghan
