5 Ingredient Beer Bread…and that includes the salt.

5 Ingredient Beer Bread | halfbakedharvest.com

I was never, ever, planning on posting this bread and not because it’s not amazingly delicious.

Because I promise you, this bread will rock your world. So much so that you may be making it once a week from here on out. It’s just that good and by far the easiest thing I make. Without a doubt.

The only reason I was not going to post this recipe is because it’s embarrassingly easy. One bowl, five-minute prep – tops (seriously tops), and five ingredients that I honestly think most everyone always has on hand.

Flour, baking powder, honey, salt, and beer.

That’s it you guys. And as I already said, it’s honestly one of the best loaves of bread you’ll ever have.

Today is the day I’m giving in and showing you guys one of my most requested recipes.

I’m not lying, I make a lot of food (A LOT). Actually, I make so much food that typically we have two or three freshly baked desserts lying around on any given day. You’d think I would give them away, but I can’t. By the time I’m done shooting them, and by the time my family has gotten their hands on the treats, it looks like an animal got to them.

In all fairness, I do a number on them while photographing, but my family kind of destroys them. Some people pick off their favorite parts first. Some people go straight for the middle. And some people dump the containers upside down, shake em side to side and do a little dance well they’re at it.

My mom actually asked me if I had anything for her to take to this “thing” she had last night. I was like, seriously…sure, if you want to take the bars and that cake…that looks like animals got to it. Yeah, she passed. So I quickly whipped her up a batch of this beer bread. So easy and such a crowd pleaser!

This bread is practically a staple on our dinner table. I mean, we’re having it again tonight.

It’s good enough that I make it when we have people over, bring it with me if we ever actually go anywhere (which is never, but I would) and have even made it on Thanksgiving and Christmas. People love this bread, love, love, love it.

It actually still amazes me how much people love it and how incredibly easy it is. It’s just plain bizarre.

If you are scared of homemade bread, this is the bread to make. You can’t mess it up. Ok, well I’m sure if you added way too much baking powder, dumped in tablespoons of salt, or maybe accidentally grabbed the powdered sugar instead of the flour. Yeah, in that case, I think it would be bad.

But I don’t think that’s going to happen.

I like this bread paired best with homemade chili or gumbo. But it’s also great as a side with roasted chicken, grilled steak, or even leftover for breakfast. I am telling you, this is your new favorite bread. Trust me!

  1. This recipe was so easy and SOOO yummy! I used an apricot beer and it was scrumptious. And did I mention easy? Have you tried with different kinds of flour like almond? Just curious.

    Warm regards,

Finally made this. Oh my gosh it is Amazing! I used a thin metal bread pan and it came out with the most amazing crunch on top from the salty butter and sweet chewy bottom from the honey. I barely mixed the ingredients- just until they were moist. It was stupid easy and so delicious. Thanks for sharing!

Absolutely loved it! So easy to make. Went perfect with chili.
I checked a couple of the cookbooks out of library after trying some recipes off website. There were so many I wanted to try, starting with this bread, I bought both cookbooks.

  5. Hello!

My bread did not rise much, the inside did not seem like it was baked all the way and the crust was pretty hard. Is it possible that I mixed the mix too much? I kept mixing until all of the flour was incorporated and the dough was not runny at all, which did not seem right. I live in Wisconsin so not sure if there is something with the differing elevation.

Overall, I thought the flavor was excellent! I made this with the Lighter Creamy Broccoli Cheddar Soup recipe of yours. I used New Glarus’ Wisconsin Belgium Red, which is a cherry-flavored beer. I loved the flavor of this bread with that beer!

    Thank you!!

    1. Hey Megan,
Thanks for giving the recipe a try, sorry to hear you had issues. Were all of your ingredients fresh? Also, you definitely don’t want to over mix this, just mix until just combined. Also, if you bake in glass it will take longer to bake through. I hope this helps!! xTieghan

Amazing! Delicious. The crusty top is soooooo good. My husband loved it and next time I will use one of his favorite beers. I used a cheap one and it still tasted good. Could not believe how easy it was to make. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

    1. Hi Claire,

Loved it so much! I baked it a little longer for that golden crust and it was worth it. Perfectly crusty on the outside, similar to a scone. But so very pillowy on the inside. If you rated this below 5 stars, you don’t understand the time and effort bread takes to make. Having a delicious week night bread recipe that is also fast, deserves every star available in my book.

Made this as written but with nonalcoholic Heineken. It turned out great. I’ll probably use something like a pumpkin or maybe oatmeal stout but this was a good way to use up NA beer from dry January!

SO EASY and so delicious. Made it for the first time with HBH white chicken chili – will be made with all soups moving forward.

I made the really similar recipe in the Super Simple recipe and LOVED it – except it was very, very salty. Will definitely try again and about to attempt this one – I used a light IPA, do you think the beer choice is what made it so salty? I’m afraid to adjust the salt by too much! Thanks so much for all your recipes – love them.

    1. Hey Anna,
Thanks a lot for giving this recipe a try, I am glad to hear that it was enjoyed. If the beer was super salty possibly. Have the best weekend!! xTieghan
