This Spiced Maple Bourbon Fizz is the perfect cozy cocktail. Homemade spiced maple syrup, mixed with warming bourbon, lemon, and orange, then topped off with bubbly champagne for that special November touch. Perfect for the cold nights ahead and upcoming Thanksgiving. Make a large batch to serve to family and friends over the holidays, this is so easy to create.

Once November rolls around, I want nothing more than all things cozy, even my cocktails. To me, November drinks should have warm, spicy flavors. I love notes of bourbon and cinnamon, and then just a touch of sweetness.

Kind of like a warm November hug. So cheesy, I know, but it’s the time of year when my cheesiest self comes out.

I can’t help it, you know I love the holidays.

The simple details

This one is different, because for once, I’m focusing more on spices and much less on the fruit. I’m a fruity cocktail kind of person, but I’m switching things up. The key to this drink lies within the spiced maple syrup. It’s a mix of sweet maple and warming spices…cinnamon, cardamom, and ginger. All simmered together and then finished off with a fresh zest of orange.

When shaken up with bourbon, a squeeze of lemon, and topped off with festive bubbly champagne, it’s sweet, spicy, and so delicious.

I gave you recipes for both a single drink and the punch version. So if you’re serving guests this Thanksgiving, this is the perfect warming cocktail to serve up!

The syrup is the heart of the cocktail, and were a lot of the flavor comes from. The flavors go so well. And as I said, it’s the perfect warming drink for cold nights. I highly suggest making a batch of the spiced syrup this weekend. Then when friends and family randomly show up at your door you can whip up delicious cocktails. Which happens for me quite often.

Nothing is more welcoming than a cozy cocktail. Well, maybe a roaring fire, but that can sometimes be hard to come by. That said, if you can mix up this fun and festive fizz, and stoke up a fire, that’s definitely ideal.

And that’s pretty much it. It’s a classic, but with a seasonal twist, and bubbly champagne makes it even better. This one is perfect for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Enjoy guys!!

This is absolutely a fabulous cocktail. The spiced maple syrup turns this cocktail into a warming intoxicating beautiful beverage.
I personally don’t drink but I made this as a trial run for my husband to sample prior to going to stay with family this Christmas. It’s a winner.

I made this for a party and doubled the punch. It was fantastic and everyone loved it. We had 10 people and the bunch was quickly gone and people were asking for more. I am making again for an upcoming party. Thanks Tiegen!

I think that might throw the taste off a bit. Let me know if you give this recipe a try, I hope you love it! Cheers! xx

      1. I made it last night and skipped the orange rind and the champagne for simplicity. I added more ginger beer to dilute and a little sparkling water. Everyone loved it, thank you so much.

    1. Hi Margaret,
Thank you so much for making this recipe, I love to hear that it was a winner! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! xx

  4. Love the Spiced Maple Bourbon Fizz cocktail. I am curious about the calories per cocktail? The syrup makes several cocktails, not a single cocktail. I think the calorie for 1 cocktail isn’t 1267 each?

    1. Hi Patrice,
I think it is accounting for all of the syrup, but I always recommend that if the nutritional information is important to you, you use your own personal calculator. Ours is automatic and controlled by google. It’s not something we’d prefer to be using. We are required to. I’m sorry for the trouble, we do our best! xT

  5. So i’ve been wanting to keep the spiced syrup ingredients after one use to use again and again, but i’m fearful that the orange may turn bitter with boiling. Any insight? Thank you! We love this recipe so much we use it over and over again. Such a hit.

    1. Hi Allyson,
You can keep the syrup for up to 2 weeks in the fridge. Please let me know if you have any other questions! Cheers! xT

  6. When making the punch version do I boil more than 1/2 cup of water? When I increase the number of servings everything changes on the ingredients list but the 1/2 cup of water in the instructions stays the same.
    Thanks!

    1. Hey Byron,
Yes, you can do 1 cup of water:) I hope you love this recipe, please let me know if you give it a try! Cheers!! xx

    1. Hey Kristen,
You can make the syrup up to 2 weeks in advance and store in the fridge, I would make everything else the day of. I hope you love the recipe! Cheers! xx

Amazing recipe! I’ve made this for my family a few times over the holidays, along with the cranberry bourbon sour, and both are HUGE hits! I’m always sending this recipe to friends and family!

The recipe tastes great (not too sweet, good amount of citrus and spice), but the author has clearly never met a punch bowl if they’re recommending a recipe that’s this small to be served from a punch bowl. Luckily I had time to pivot and serve from a smaller pitcher for a Friendsgiving.

    1. Also, the recipes specifies simmering orange zest but the photos show larger orange peels (not zest), which impacts the final flavor. I went with zest (as written) but a more clearly written/photographed recipe is helpful!

    2. Hey Ashley,
Awesome!! Love to hear that this recipe was enjoyed, thanks for making it and sharing your review:) Happy Thanksgiving! 🍽

      1. Hey there! I can’t find orange bitters (I live in the UAE). Could I substitute regular bitters alone? Or should I add some orange juice/zest as well?
        Thank you!

    1. Hey Nandita,
I like to use Off Hours or 4 Roses Bourbon. Please let me know if you have any other questions! Cheers! xTieghan

    1. Hey Tammy,
Nope, no gold flakes, but you totally could add edible gold if you wanted:) I hope you love the recipe! xx

    1. Hey Mary,
I just order mine online:) You should be able to find them on Amazon! Please let me know if you have any other questions! Cheers! xx

    1. Hey Elizabeth,
You could use plain sparkling water in place of the alcohol. Let me know if you give the recipe a try! xT

I noticed the calories for 1 serving of the fizz is 1500 but the punch is 330. Am I understanding that correctly?
