With only one Saturday left before Christmas I’m feeling as though this season is way too short this year. Anyone else feeling the same? We just had Thanksgiving and then suddenly Christmas has crept right up, and we’re now only 11 days away. My brothers and cousins will all slowly be arriving a week from today. This means that the holiday cocktail prep and planning on my end is in full force.

I now have many cocktail recipes in my back pocket. But when it comes to Christmas drinks I really like to share some new and exciting ones with the family over the holiday. Last week it was this The Spicy Sweet Grinch Cocktail and this week it’s all about party punch. It’s simple, it’s easy, extra festive, and so delicious.

Here are the details.

With friends and family in town, everyone needs a good party punch they can make ahead and then have guests serve themselves throughout the night. Enter my sparkling Christmas party punch. It’s basically sangria, but all done up for Christmas.

Here is how this goes. I like to use a dry white wine, such as Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc. Add the wine, sweet pomegranate juice, vodka, a splash of orange liquor, fresh grapefruit slices, pomegranate arils, and cinnamon sticks to a large pitcher. Then chill in the fridge until ready to serve…

But just before serving I like to add one last ingredient. Can you guess?

Yes, it’s ginger beer. I know, surprise, surprise. I am maybe just a little bit obsessed, but in my opinion, ginger beer makes everything better. It adds both sweetness and spice, and well, I find it delicious. The key is to add the ginger beer only just before serving so that it doesn’t lose any of its bubbly fizz.

To make these extra festive…

Rim each glass in cinnamon sugar. I always find this to be a sweet and pretty touch for holiday cocktails. It’s all about those little details. Especially during the holiday season.

This Christmas party punch is both refreshing and warming, perfect for the snowiest December nights…

Complete with my favorite holiday candles, family, and friends. OK and maybe a cozy fire too. ENJOY!

  1. Hi Tieghan! Are there any other types of liquor that you think would be a good substitute if someone doesn’t want vodka? And do you think orange liquor would work well instead of the elderflower liquor? Thanks!

Made this punch for Christmas. It was a huge hit.
Definitely put the cinnamon and sugar on the rims
Of the glasses. It took the punch over the top.

  6. This punch looks delicious. Thoughts on making it without the alcohol for those that can’t drink this holiday season? I’m wondering if it will be just as good with sparkling water as a substitute for the alcohol??

    1. HI! I would just use an equal amount of sparkling water or sparkling juice in place of all the alcohol. I am sure that will be delicious! Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you and happy holidays! xTieghan

  9. This looks amazing, my question is regarding the sliced grapefruit, is that supposed to read sliced oranges?

    1. Hi Sarah, you can use blood oranges, oranges, or grapefruit. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you and happy holidays! xTieghan

  10. The ingredients list includes “2 grapefruits, sliced” but the directions mention adding orange slices. Should the sliced grapefruits actually be oranges? Will be trying this for Christmas. (With oranges!)

    1. Hey Patty, you can use blood oranges, oranges, or grapefruit. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you and happy holidays! xTieghan

  11. The list of ingredients calls for 2 grapefruits but the directions say oranges. Which is it? Also, you say to garnish with oranges and the arils but also to put them in the pitcher at the beginning. It’s very confusing. Are we to reserve some for garnish or do both go in the pitcher and add more for garnish? Thanks!

    1. Hey Ann, I revised the recipe to match the photos. You can do this any way, but it all reads correctly now. You can use blood oranges, oranges, or grapefruit. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you and happy holidays! xTieghan
