Thanks for joining me for another Nine Favorite Things post.
Sunday, Sunday…do you love em’ or hate em’? I feel like most people love Sundays, but for me personally, Sundays have never been my favorite. As a kid I dreaded Sunday because it meant school was the following day, and as some of you may know, I didn’t like school very much. As an adult, I don’t dread Sunday as much, but I think it’s been ingrained into me to just not love Sundays. Is that weird? Yes, that’s totally weird, but hey, we all have our quirks! So let me know, do you love or hate Sundays?
Anyway, this past week was filled with the usual craziness and a few tough decisions. As we continue to grow HBH, I continue to learn that owning your own business can be hard and sometimes tough calls have to be made. This week has been filled with two major decisions and they have left me a little mentally drained. I will say that I am happy with the final decisions that were made, and happy with how I went about making those decisions. Meaning, nothing rash I feel, things were talked out, info was learned, and in the end I feel comfortable with the way we are proceeding. Slowly I am learning just how to handle business type things…with help from my parents, because when life gives you big decisions, you always confer with your parents. No matter what your age.
Coming up this week, I am excited for a new things to be installed in the Studio Barn, I have a quick trip to LA for a very fun spring shoot plus some meetings, and of course, many yummy recipes to share. We have a fresh shrimp recipe, a new and different Greek dinner, a simple appetizer, and of course something sweet to end the week with. Looking forward to all of it!
Hope you guys have a great Sunday and enjoy this week’s favorites!
1. Do you Listen to Podcasts?
This past week I started listening to podcasts while I test and photograph recipes. Normally, I’ll listen to music, or more often than not, I just keep things quite, but I thought I would try out a podcast to change things up. I’ve been following The Skinny Confidential for months now and loving it, so I thought I would tune into the Skinny Confidential Him and Her Podcast. Within five minutes I was hooked and I swear my time in the kitchen flew by this week. Granted sometimes I had to pause the podcast because I was becoming too focused on the podcast (because the Him and Her Podcast is SO good) and I needed to focus more on the food. But I love that I was both working and gaining valuable info all at the same time. Love making the most of the time I have! SO…I asked all my Instagram followers what their favorite podcasts are. Below are the top 4 recommended to me.
Armchair Expert by Dax Shepard
Question: what’s your favorite podcast? Tell me in the comments!
2. My Favorite Photo of the Week:
If any of you guys have been following along with my family’s Olympic press this past month, than you may have heard the term Gerarded. What does Gerarded mean? Well, my brother, Brendan explains it best, so I’m going to let him take it from here.
Definition of GERARDED: to become overwhelmed with a sense of family pride and patriotism within or there for the Gerard family.
And this is why the above photo is my favorite. GERARDED STICKERS + Red’s face. Could not love it more.

YES! I’m a loyal listening of The Skinny Confidential Him & Her podcast since episode 1 – so glad you’re listening now too! Happy Sunday (yes, I too dreaded Sundays back during the school years, haha – now they’re great).
Thank you Liz!
I love the my favorite murder podcast! If you’re not sure about it, like i was before, start with the Minisodes, They are short sweet & lighthearted and not always about murder, you get some great sinkhole, ER nurse, first responder, weird grandma stories send in by the listeners of the podcast. For me its a great after dinner while doing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen podcast since the minisodes are only like 25-30 minutes.
Thank you so much! I will check these out!
