Nine Favorite Things – Miami
I’ve been looking forward to this post all week. They take me forever to put together, but in the end, they’re always my favorite post to share each week. I usually work on them throughout the entire week. I finish one week’s Favorite’s post and then start the next one. Anytime I have an idea or come across something I want to share I flag it and save it! It’s fun, and I’m excited about this week’s links! A lot of spring things!
I know it’s not yet spring, but soon! I’m looking forward to more color, fresh herbs, and, since it’s still going to be snowing here for a while, I’ll definitely be surrounding myself with as many florals as possible. I’m also looking forward to baking with strawberries, which I ended up doing this week. Mainly because I really needed to add some color to my day. They made me happy and I can’t wait to share them so soon!
I’ve been loving all of the spring fashion. I’ve been majorly following the Milan and Paris fall 2023 runway shows, and probably doing too much late-night shopping. But it’s what is making me happy these days. I’m feeling more and more of a need to give myself a break from always thinking about creating new recipes. I’m trying to have a little more balance for once! Which you will see below.
I’ve been feeling anxious a lot recently. So I’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts on renewing motivation, meditation, journaling practices, and managing anxiety levels when things are more stressful. I’m someone who lives in a constant state of fight or flight mode, so I’m working to change that. I have a couple of amazing podcast recommendations below that I really enjoyed listening to this week!
Also, I really want to start journaling. Starting with a gratitude list and daily affirmations. Do any of you do this?
Moving along, happy March! March can kind of be a blah month. But thankfully I’m heading back to Miami to get out of the cold for a long weekend trip with my family. The sunshine and warmth there last weekend was so nice that I jumped at the invite when my mom asked. It’s a quick trip for me. My mom, dad, Crieghton, Asher, Oslo, and my cousin Abby are all heading down to St. Lucia from Miami. They’re spending time with my grandpa, which I’m sure will be amazing. I have some meetings in New York, then a trip to LA later this month. I’m really looking forward to getting back to Miami next weekend though!
I’m going to surprise Asher with a day for just her and me (no, she does not read these posts). I think we’ll start with shopping in the Miami Design District, which has every designer store you can imagine. I know she’s dying to go to Dior. Then some lunch, and we’ll end the day with massages. She’s been such a help to me the few months, it’s time to spoil her!
That’s all of my rambles for today. Enjoy a very springy Favorite’s post, and happy Sunday!
excited to be back in Miami soon
dreaming of going to…The Best Destinations for a Mother-Daughter Trip. Charleston, South Carolina is my top pick, then Napa Valley, California, and honestly, Park City, Utah looks fun too. Or a spa in Arizona! I think my mom would love Charleston. And she’s gotten into red wine recently, so Napa could be perfect as well. Mother’s Day is coming up!

.everything in my cart (low)…silver and anything metallic is a huge trend right now. I love this minimal flap shoulder bag from Zara. I’d also do their metallic high heeled shoes, super cute. Also from the Zara shoe department, love these comfy flatform sandals, pointed flat leather slingbacks, and my favorite of the bunch, strappy heeled leather sandals in red.
Also from Zara, this belted trench coat is a spring must-have. I’m so into their wool blend balloon skirt. This leather belt is perfect. And lastly, their combination knit top and pointelle knit top are both such cute, elevated basics.
From Abercrombie, I’m ordering their essential easy tee in both white and black. Love these wide leg jeans. And how adorable is their eyelet poplin mini dress? Cute for a tropical vacation. Oh wait, and this one shoulder swim top + bottom too in purple!
listening to… . Actually going to listen to this a second time to better retain all the information. As someone who is consistently in fight or flight, I learned a lot. Highly recommend this if you are struggling with stress.

loving…The Dior fall 2023 Paris show. Every single thing about this show was stunning. So visually pretty and the fall looks are perfect. Other favorites from the fall 2023 shows, Prada, Bottega Veneta, The Row, Gucci, and YSL. Oh, and Bally and Hermes too.
shopping…St. Patrick’s Day looks. This Self Portrait embellished satin minidress is really fun.

I love the Saie Lightweight Dewy Highlighter. Great for spring. I want to try the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Brightening Powder and Matte Beauty Blush Wands. And then, the Merit Bronze Balm Sheer Sculpting Bronzer has incredible Sephora reviews.
I need to order this Cuticle Recovery Oil. I’m dying to try the Mascara L’Obscur and Blush De Beauté, both from Gucci beauty.

Ok, last one: Cream Cheese Swirled Cinnamon Carrot Cake Muffins
q: I am new to your page. How did you learn to cook like this?
a: Hi!! I started cooking in middle school. Probably in 6th grade. Back then, I’d watch Rachel Ray’s 30-Minute Meals. The first recipe I made was her cheeseburger mac and cheese. To this day Creighton (oldest brother) says it’s the best thing I’ve ever made. Keep in mind that I have made this dish only one time. He still begs me to make it 🤷🏻♀️
🙄 So, I guess she was my start. But really, I learned everything from googling what I didn’t know and trial and error. I’m a very visual person and learn best by doing, then adjusting/fixing. Don’t ask me to read anything! I am not trained, I just cook the way it feels best to me. My technique is not good, I’m sure I do plenty of things wrong, but again, it works for me! I still google anything I do not know. You learn something new every day, you know?
q: have you always felt comfortable recording yourself and being on camera?
a: No!! Like not at all. If you would have asked my family ten years ago if they thought I would/could do this, their response would have been a hard NO. I’m a homebody, very shy, and not someone who would have ever felt comfortable in front of the camera. It’s literally something I have to practice and work at every single day. I would say that just this year is really when I started to let go of some of my perfectionism. I try hard not to give an F about certain things or how weird I look on camera, I just hit post. And then have to immediately move on, not think about it, and literally just forget it. Otherwise, I will second guess and hit delete.
q: what shoes do you wear to hike in the snow?
a: I love these Merrell waterproof boots. They’re light enough that I can easily hike through the snow but they still keep the snow out.
q: best “starting a business advice”? About to quit my job and make the leap!
a: Exciting!!! You have to dive in and never stop working towards continued growth. It’s going to be really hard but if you have a strong want/desire to grow your company, then you will!! Use Google as a tool, don’t be afraid to reach out to people, and work to make connections. Stay focused on you and what you’re building/creating. There will be times when it’s really hard and you may have doubt, but don’t give up. Know that over time, it will grow! And give it time, nothing happens overnight.
q: going to NYC for the first time in March. Packing/attire must haves?
a: Warm clothes, it’s still going to be chilly. Comfortable walking shoes because the best thing about New York is how walkable it is!! Bring your favorite tote that can hold a lot if needed. Definitely a raincoat, a good pair of boots, and a hat + gloves!! Just prepare for the weather because rain, snow, or sun you’ll be outside a good amount getting around from place to place.
q: do you workout? If so, what do you do?
a: I hike pretty much every single morning. Plus 10-ish minutes of light body strength (push-ups, plank, etc. using my body weight). I really want to get into Pilates though, maybe take a class or do something online.

1. What’s your dream movie house?
I had to Google “movie homes” since my memory is apparently awful, and honestly, I haven’t watched enough movies. So I’m going to say the homes in The Holiday. The cottage is so cozy, but the LA kitchen is really nice. Neither is my dream home though, so please share yours with me!! I love this waterfront house home recently featured in Vogue.
2. What’s your favorite romantic movie?
Honestly, I’m asking because I need your recommendations! I love a good rom-com. To be honest, Hallmark Christmas movies are some of my favorites. I thought A Perfect Pairing on Netflix was kind of cute.
3. Best advice you’ve received from a therapist, a mentor, or whomever?
The best advice I’ve received is to treat everyone with the same amount of kindness and respect. Kindness gets you further in life than anything else.
What’s the best advice you’ve received?

The walkway to the beach from the Faena

This Brio brings back a lot of memories. I enjoyed many lunches out with my Nonnie here. We would shop, lunch, then shop some more. I miss her so much, more and more lately! So grateful I have these special memories.

Hi, Tieghan! I love to write in journals, and they can be a big help! Sometimes I just write what’s in my mind. I’m currently writing three stories, and it’s really fun, but challenging. Your posts are so fun to read! I really want to be like you one day, and I’m so glad that now my whole family relies on me for sweet baked goods! Oh, by the way, I made your brown butter chocolate chip cookies from your book and my family LOVED them! My brother’s super picky, but he’s already requested them again, and he gave me a thumbs up! High praise from him. I think he’ll respect you forever because of your cookie recipe. 🙂 Thanks! Abigail
Hey Abigail,
Thanks so much for reading along and sharing about your journal writing! That’s so great your family enjoys all the baked goods you have been making! Have a great week! xT
Hi Tieghan, I just wanted to pop in and say I journal every day using the Day One app. It’s the best thing ever. If I decide I want to write I can scan in a pdf, or I can dictate into it and it will type out text AND a recording. I can add videos, photos, and print a book or a PDF. It’s really the best. xx
Hey Lynn,
Thanks for sharing and thanks for sharing about the Day One app! I’ll have to check that out, but sounds super handy! Have a great week! xx
Hi Tieghan,
Have you ever thought about doing a 5 ingredient series?
Hey Jen,
I haven’t, I do have a couple 5 ingredient recipes, but I think it would be pretty challenging to do a whole series! xx
I have always loved the house in Father of the Bride. Father of the Bride 1 and 2 are some of my favorite movies! You need to watch them if you haven’t. Also, one of my favorite romantic comdies that is great but less popular is About Time with Rachel McAdams.
Hey Ashley,
Omg yes!! That house is a classic! I haven’t seen the second one, but I’ve seen the first a number of times. Thanks for reading! xT
Hi! A book I’m finishing up now is “Think Like A Monk” by Jay Shetty and it’s been incredibly insightful as far as training our minds and perspectives, especially reactions such as fight or flight, ego, etc.
If you’re interested in Pilates, I do an online program that I absolutely LOVE! It’s called The Pilates Class (TPC) and it’s led by Jacqui Kingswell. I’d only done Pilates occasionally before and I’ve been doing TPC for over two years now and it’s been a game changer for me!
Wishing you all the best!!
Hey Sonja,
Happy Monday! Thanks for sharing the book you are reading, sounds like it would have great insight! I’ll definitely look into the pilates class you do online, thanks for the recommendation! xT
Hi Tieghan!
I see April recommended the same Pilates source a little further below! I hope you check it out!
Have a great day!
It must be a good one!! Definitely on my list to checkout:)
Come to Charleston! I live here; you and your mom would love it!
Thanks so much Kelly! It’s been on my list for awhile now, I’ve heard great things! xT
House: I could live happily in the dad’s house in both versions of The Parent Trap.
Favorite Romantic Movie(s): You’ve Got Mail and An Affair to Remember. But also, see below (Colin Firth version).
Advice: If you want to find your Darcy, you have to be an Elizabeth.
Hey Michele,
Lol yes!! That sounds is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your fave romantic movies and advice:) Have a great Monday! xT
Love your blog! Love that you allow yourself to be vulnerable…it shows great strength of character and willingness to learn new things. I have issues with anxiety and stress that mostly gets triggered by trying to do too much and make everything perfect. I do journal before I go to bed and read one of my latest books for an hour or so before going to bed. I also have no phone or computer in my bedroom at night. One thing that helps keep me calm during the day is listening to music while I’m busy working around the house or even outside gardening. You are a creative young women who seems to have a kind heart and is creating a unique brand and style. Keep it up!
Hi Linda,
Thanks so much for reading and taking the time to comment:) I think it’s great that you journal and read before bed, sounds like a great way to unwind from the day. I also think that’s pretty awesome you don’t have your phone or computer with you at night! Thanks for your thoughtful message:) Have a great Monday! xT
I live in Charleston, and if you decide that’s where you want to go, let me know, and I will give you some insider tips!
Thanks so much Nina!! I appreciate the offer:) Happy Monday! xT
I just wanted to say thanks so much for this post every week. I’m SO glad you look forward to posting it because I love it! I have a “Sunday rest routine” every Sunday afternoon. I gather my leftover morning coffee from before church, my weekly calendar, my laptop & my menu plan. I pull up NINE FAV THINGS to start me off & it is so fun! The right mix of interesting links, pretty eye candy & recipe ideas 🙂
Love your blog & your books, Tieghan! keep it up!
Hey Sonya,
Thanks so much for your thoughtful message and reading each Sunday, it really means a lot! Sounds like a cozy way to start your day:) Hope you’re having a great Monday! xT
The movie home question is so good – never thought about that before. Im a New England girl so I’m going to go with the one from Hocus Pocus (the original). I desperately wanted Max’s room with the staircase.
Rom coms: 10 Things I Hate About You (also a cool house!), How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, The Wedding Planner, Love Actually, Window With a View, Bread and Tulips (Italian with subtitles)
Advice: Clear is Kind (from Melissa Urban), mostly that boundaries are okay, and extremely healthy, and you can’t expect others to know what you want
Hey Deb,
Thanks for reading! Ahhh, who doesn’t love Hocus Pocus?! But, never thought about the house, that’s a good one! Thanks for sharing your favorite comedies and advice:) Hope you’re off to a great Monday! xT
Hello!
Reading about your interest in pilates, I thought I’d pass along a few pilates apps that I love and are wonderful for beginners. https://thepilatesclass.com/ andhttps://lindywell.com/.
One of the many benefits I appreciate with these pilates platforms is the integration of meditation and stress reduction. Also, they both offer a weekly schedule which makes it so easy to get on the mat without overthinking what workout to do! Lindywell offers numerous 10-15 workouts that make it so easy to accomplish everyday! I love pilates, it’s changed my life! Have fun trying out your class.
Hey April,
Happy Monday!! Thanks so much for sharing your pilates app! Like a mentioned, I’ve never tried it before, but have heard amazing things! I’ll let you know if I check it out! Have a great week! xx
Great post, as always.
Trying to think of movie homes, I’m not a huge film watcher, so I’m not sure. I do like kitchen scenes where there are cookies cooling of pan racks though! Places that look cozy and inviting.
Fav romantic movie is The Fault in our Stars, I really wailed though, at the end.
Best advice, be yourself and be kind.
Have fun in Miami, and a great day with Asher. Xx
Hey Kelly-Jane,
Thanks so much for reading:) Lol love this cookie scene description, I can picture exactly what you are referring to! Thanks for sharing your fave romantic movie! Hope you’re off to a great week! xx
Oh fun! If you come to Napa please let me know and I can help set up some amazing tastings for you. I’ve lived here 20 years now and work in the wine industry. Love your posts!!
Thank you so much for your kind offer Natalie!! I will keep you posted:) Have a great week! xT
Another great Sunday post and love all the fashion insight. Paris is a great place to visit even without fashion week taking place. I also enjoyed reading the link on the health benefits of coffee, which then led me to read 9 ingredients to add to your coffee for extra health benefits.
On recent walks I’m loving seeing spring blooms appearing from blossom on crab apple trees to snowdrops and crocus’, all bringing a much needed splash of colour to March.
Looking forward to seeing and trying your new strawberry recipes. Have a great week and enjoy Miami 🙂
Hey Colleen,
Thanks for reading! I’m sure Paris is absolutely amazing, I would love to visit anytime! Glad to hear you enjoyed the link for the coffee benefits:) Enjoy your walks, sounds so nice to be seeing some blooms rather than snow lol! Happy Monday! xx
