We’re down to our second to last holiday cocktail of the season, and today’s drink is hands down the most requested come Christmas week at my house. I can already see my family members faces, full of excitement, as they look through these photos. Is it Christmas week yet?

When I first got into making drinks, the Moscow Mule was one I’d make all the time…and still do. Over the last couple of years I’ve developed a ton of drink recipes, especially holiday themed drink recipes, but to this day a Moscow Mule with a touch of mint and fresh fruit is everyone’s favorite. I can’t tell you how many Moscow Mules I’ve made. They are so easy and I’ve since learned that a little mint and some ginger beer are secret weapons when it comes to cocktail making.

Another secret weapon I’ve been using often this year…McCormick’s Peppermint Extract. I know that traditionally you may only think to use peppermint extract in your baking (hello to those yummy peppermint cookies we all love), but I’m here to tell you that adding a drop or two of pure peppermint extract gives a splash of minty flavor to your cocktails as well. Just as it does in today’s Moscow Mule. I’ve found that with most Moscow Mule recipes the minty flavor really doesn’t shine through. To me this is such a bummer, because I love the classic combo of ginger and mint. The fresh mint really needs to be made into a syrup to actually taste it’s flavor. However, using peppermint extract provides a quick and easy way to add that burst of peppermint flavor without having to make a syrup. YES PLEASE.

Here’s the quick breakdown of this wintry cocktail.

Mix a splash of vodka with some fresh lime juice, grapefruit juice, and a dash or two of peppermint extract. Top your drink off with crushed ice and plenty of ginger. Finish with some sweet pomegranate arils and a little fresh mint for a festive touch.


You see? Simple, quick, easy. So. Good.

If you’re not a fan of grapefruit juice, you can really sub in any fruit juice you love. Pomegranate, blood orange juice, etc. Just be sure not to skimp on the peppermint. After all, this is Frosty’s Frosted Mule and it needs to be extra minty.

Also? I often make virgin Moscow Mules for littler Asher by simply omitting the vodka. So if you have young kids, or just prefer no alcohol, these drinks can be adapted for all to enjoy!

  • 1. Fill a cocktail glass with ice. Add the vodka, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and peppermint extract. Stir to combine. Top of with ginger beer. Garnish with pomegranate arils, a grapefruit slice, and fresh mint. DRINK.

    This recipe is delicious. One jalapeno was plenty for the simple syrup it calls for, and I would definitely double the ingredients (besides the jalapeno) for the simple syrup as the recipe only made about 4 Tbsp in total. Will make this again – it’s festive, spicy, and delicious! Love the frozen component.
