Keeping things super quick and very delicious with this Garlic Butter Creamed Spinach Salmon. This one skillet salmon is for those nights when you’re craving something fancy…ish, but need to keep things quick and easy too. It’s all made in one skillet with heart healthy salmon, shallots, garlic, a touch of creamy coconut milk, parmesan cheese, plenty of fresh baby spinach, and spring herbs. Not only is this salmon easy and delicious, but it feels fancy too. Best part? It comes together in less than 30 minutes.

There are some days that I head into the kitchen and I really do not have a clue what I’m going to cook. To be honest, I don’t love to be overly planned out when it comes to the recipes I share. I’ve learned that when I spend a day or two plotting out new recipes, and putting the concepts on my list of recipes to test, that when the time comes to actually make the recipe, I find that I’ve already changed my mind.

What I’ve found most productive is to start each week fresh and only plot recipe concepts every 2-3 days. Any more lead time and I will end up changing my mind and move on from the concept. Yes, I know it sounds crazy, but if something is not exciting me in the moment, I’m not going to create it. Of course, there are some ideas that are just always exciting, and will always make the cut. But then there are also some that just aren’t.

I leave the non-exciting ones behind, and run with the exciting ones…

Anyway, my point in this little behind the scenes peek into my recipe development process, is that I made this garlic butter salmon last week on a whim, and without much thought. It just sounded amazing, so I ran with it and had the recipe tested and ready for photographing in just a couple of hours.

For whatever reason, I was thinking about how much I used to love my mom’s homemade Chicken Florentine. She made it heavy on the butter, lemon, spinach, and parmesan. It’s one of those childhood comfort foods I will always love.

I thought about how delicious that Florentine sauce would be with pan seared, crispy salmon. Once the thought hit, I knew this would be one of the recipes I’d be testing out that day.

I was almost certain it would turn out to be a great recipe to share with you all. So I was very excited about it from the start. Clearly all went as planned, because here it is! And you guys…it’s just as good as it sounds, but better.

And so easy, which I think is always nice on a Monday.

This is another one of my one skillet recipes.

The salmon is pan seared until both sides are perfectly crisp. I love cooking salmon filets with the skin on, as it adds an incredible amount of flavor. Plus the skin is where a lot of the healthy oils are, so there are also additional health benefits. You can certainly use skin-off salmon as well, but I do recommend skin-on for best flavor!

Once you sear the salmon, it’s time to make the sauce. All you need is a pat of butter, shallots, garlic, coconut milk, parmesan, spinach, and herbs. Now, I know the coconut milk may sound odd, but you really don’t taste any coconut flavor. I like to use coconut milk for its creaminess. I find it to be incredibly delicious in cream sauces and prefer it over heavy cream. Bonus that it’s also much healthier!

Slowly cook the garlic until fragrant, then add the milk, spinach, and herbs. I also add plenty of lemon, since that was a key ingredient in my mom’s sauce.

Finish up with some fresh chives and done. It doesn’t even take 30 minutes, and it’s really just one of the most delicious ways you can cook up salmon on a weeknight. The sauce is a touch buttery, a little garlicy, very creamy, and made fresh with the squeeze of a lemon. It’s the perfect pairing to a pan seared, crispy filet of salmon.

Serve this with crusty bread for dipping, baby potatoes, roasted asparagus, a big salad, or maybe even a combo of them all! This makes for a great weeknight meal, but can easily be used as a main course for your next spring or summer dinner party.

And yes, it’s great for Easter too!

Ingredients

Instructions

  • 1. Season the salmon all over with salt and pepper.
    2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. When the oil shimmers, add the salmon, skin side down and cook for 2-3 minutes, until the salmon is crisp. Gently flip, and continue cooking the salmon for another 2-3 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked to your liking. Remove from the skillet. If desired, peel away the skin and discard.
    3. To the same skillet, add the butter, shallots, and garlic and cook until the garlic is fragrant, about 2 minutes. Add the crushed red pepper flakes, coconut milk, and cream cheese. Season the sauce with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth and creamy. Add the parmesan, and spinach and cook until the spinach is wilted, about 3-5 minutes. Stir in the lemon juice, parsley, and chives. Remove from the heat and slide the salmon back into the sauce.
    4. To serve plate each piece of salmon, then spoon the sauce over top. Serve with additional herbs.

But my heavy cream was bad, so I ended up using coconut milk after all. I should never have doubted you Tieghan! The flavors worked perfectly! Thanks for another great weeknight dinner!

I have made more than a few of Tieghan’s recipes – all with great success – so when I say this is a winner, this is a winner!! I’m hyper critical of my cooking skills, always looking to make it better and this needs no tweaking! Amazing! Delicious! Easy! Ingredients that are in your pantry! I served it on a bed of rice in order to enjoy every last drop of sauce, but yummy bread or even pasta would have worked too! Home run! Thank you Tieghan for sharing your talents!!

    1. Hey Caroline,
I am thrilled that this recipe was enjoyed, thank you so much for giving it a try! xTieghan

    1. Hey Alexis,
You can skip the cream cheese or even something like ricotta would work well here. I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan

I am a huge HBH fan, but this was not my favourite recipe.
We made it with the coconut milk instead of the heavy cream, and I think that’s where we went wrong. The coconut flavours combined with the cheese and lemon seemed conflicting and I found the lemon made it very acidic. I would recommend using the heavy cream and possibly cutting down on the lemon juice or using zest instead of juice to cut the acidity.

  17. This recipe is SO good! I added some roasted asparagus to the sauce at the end, and served the whole thing over a little brown rice to make it just a little hardier. Love all your recipes, thank you!!

  18. My husband loves me. And, after me, he loves this salmon. 😂 I’m making it again tomorrow! With vegetable cream instead of double cream, because fat and all that. 🤪
Thank you so much for being there for us!
    Sofia

    1. Hey Sofia,
Thank you so much for giving this recipe a try, I am thrilled that it was enjoyed! Have the best weekend☀️ xTieghan

This recipe was excellent. Creamy, slightly sweet, and easy to make. The salmon cooked so well in the skillet. I added broccoli after the shallot for an extra veggie boost and it complimented well. I also added a splash of red wine to help deglaze the pan after taking out the salmon. Served with mashed sweet potatoes. Will definitely make this again. One of my favourite HBH recipes so far!

    1. Hey Rachel,
I am thrilled this recipe was enjoyed, thanks a lot for making it! Happy Sunday! xTieghan

    1. Hey Linda,

Delicious! I added sweet potatoes and let them finish cooking in the sauce and it’s great flavor! and I feel healthy

  21. 5 stars
This recipe is AMAZING. Ridiculously easy, quick, and absolutely DE-LISH. This sauce would be perfect over chicken or steak or probably just literally anything. The red pepper flakes add a surprise kick, and the whole dish just warms you from the inside out! I served this with roasted sweet potatoes and asparagus. I cook for my girlfriend all the time, recipe after recipe, and she immediately said this was her favorite of all 🙂

    1. Hey Sara,
Thanks so much for giving the recipe a try, I am thrilled that it was enjoyed! Happy Valentine’s Day❤️ xTieghan

  22. Truly the best salmon dish I have ever made! Everyone in my family loved it, the sauce is so creamy and delicious and the flavors complement each other so well. Also so easy to make! Highly recommend!

  23. 5 stars
Delicious! I don’t cook salmon often. This recipe caught my eye and didn’t disapoint! Creamy, herby and bright, the sauce complimented the salmon perfectly. I omitted the cream cheese, added a bit more coconut milk and served over orzo. Will definitely make again. Thank you!

    1. Hey Lauren,
I am so thrilled that you enjoyed the recipe, thanks so much for giving it a try! Happy New Year! xTieghan

  24. Hi! This looks delicious! Husband doesn’t eat salmon. Can I use another fish instead? (no shellfish either) Thanks!

    1. Hey Alex,

I just finished eating this for dinner- oh my God it is one of the best salmon recipes I have ever tasted! I forgot to buy shallots and fresh herbs so I used dried herbs and it was still amazing. So flavorful and easy to make, and quick too. I made it with mashed potatoes. Fantastic!

  26. 5 stars

This creamy garlic salmon is a favorite recipe for us – we make it all the time and it is fantastic! Making tonight for guests, it’s December and I have fresh thyme and rosemary in the fridge…thoughts on those herbs with this and if so…when and how to incorporate? If that sounds bad please tell me! :). thank you. LOVE YOUR BLOG AND RECIPES! xx Jenny

    1. Hey Jenny,
I am so glad you have enjoyed this recipe! I havent added these herbs to this recipe, but if you want to add them go for it! I hope you enjoy the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions. Happy Holidays! xTieghan

Another amazing recipe, thank you! My kids ate it! I left out the red pepper flakes (for the kids) and didn’t have a shallot or cream cheese so used red onion and sour cream and it was aaaahhhhhmazing!! Keeper for sure.

Served with angel hair pasta & asparagus (pregnant hungry mama over here lol) and it was WONDERFUL. Husband loved it as well. Will keep on rotation!

  30. 5 stars
I made this for the first time tonight and it was a hit! My husband loves salmon anyway, but I definitely will be making this again. Super filling and tasty!

This recipe is in my meal rotation every couple weeks. I do add lots of fresh dill at the end and then add riced cauliflower to the pan. Absolutely delicious every time with low carbs.

  32. I can’t wait to try this with chicken. I am the only one that eats seafood in my family so will tweak it by using chicken. Sounds delicious.

  33. Hi Tieghan, can I use more Parmesan to replace the cream cheese? Or any ideas on a sub for the cream cheese? Thank you

    1. Hey Beverly,
I think ricotta would be a great sub for the cream cheese. I hope you love the recipe, please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan

THAT WAS INSANE. Just finished eating this dinner and I’m surprised I can type as I’m in a Garlic Butter Creamed Spinach coma. We had it with garlicy/buttery mashed potatoes and balsamic glazed brussell sprouts. But make no mistake, the Salmon with the Creamed Spinach was the star of the show. We will definitely have to make this again soon, likely for our friends and family to show off how amazing this recipe is.

  35. Just made this for dinner and my fiancé was literally licking the plate clean! Plus so quick and easy – will definitely make again

  36. 5 stars
I make this all the time for family and friends, and it does not disappoint! So easy and yummy and so simple to make. definitely can be “dressed up” or “dressed down” haha but I love it!!!

  39. This was amazing. Everyone in my family enjoyed it. It was so easy. We paired it with some left over hamburger buns. I buttered them up and toasted them and they worked perfect sopping up the yummy sauce.

I made this last night for my boyfriend and he said “this is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in my life!!”

This was SO DELICIOUS and packed full of flavour. I didn’t have spinach so I added in some zucchini and mushrooms to the coconut milk and it came out perfectly! Will definitely be making this every week now.

Thanks so much for sharing 🙂

  41. 5 stars
This was amazing and I can’t believe how quick it ACTUALLY was. I swapped a lot of the ingredients for non-dairy options and used frozen spinach instead of fresh (just what I had on hand), and it was delicious. Thank you for a great recipe!

    1. Thank you so much for trying this one, Glo! I am really glad it turned out so well for you! xTieghan

This was such a big hit with my family. I did chicken for my kids and I had the salmon. Made the sauce separately & I just spooned it over the each protein. Thanks so much! I am dying to try more of your recipes. As a working mom, this was quick and easy!

  43. 5 stars
Very realistic and doable recipe. Sounds delicious. Looking forward to practice this recipe this weekend. Thank you.

So good! The creamy coconut sauce, oh my!
The salmon was perfectly cooked. I also had cauliflower as a side dish and scooped the sauce with the salmon over red quinoa. The coloring was a nice touch. I will definitely use this recipe again. My older kids loved this too. Thank you!

    1. Thank you so much Elizabeth! I am really glad this recipe turned out so well for you! xTieghan

This was terrific! Thank you. I didn’t have a pretty picture but just wanted to say how easy and great it was. I have made many of your recipes lately and all have been terrific.

This is my fiance’s new favorite dish! And the best part is that I was able to make this entire thing DAIRY FREE! Well, minus the Parmesan. I just didn’t add that. But people with dairy problems, a creamy amazing salmon dish like this is possible to enjoy 🙂 I used Earth Balance butter sticks for the butter, I used half coconut milk and half Trader Joe’s Soy Creamer (for a heavy cream feel), and wow did this not disappoint. Thank you for giving us a great recipe that feels like comfort food without upsetting my stomach. We are obsessed!

    1. Hi Jenna!! Thank you so much! I am so glad you all loved this one and it was easy to make dairy free! xTieghan

  47. So good! Only thing I did differently was that I did a sugar& salt bath on the salmon (help get rid of some of that fishy taste) before following the recipe. My husband loved it but wants me to make it without the lemon juice next time. Otherwise, definitely a new favorite! Thank you!

  48. 5 stars
This was delicious! Although, trying to sear the salmon was a very messy process. Hot oil always scares me though, and I tend to drop things harder than I should into the oil lol. I may just skip that step next time. I didn’t have a shallot, but I had some finely chopped green onions that I used instead. Overall, everything worked out great, and I would definitely make this again!

    1. I am really glad you still loved this one, Shannon!! I hope it turns out even better the next time!xTieghan

Made this for dinner last night and it was EXCELLENT! My husband said it was the best salmon he’s ever had abs my 15-year-old daughter requested that I make it again for her birthday dinner. It was so easy and so delicious — thank you!!

  51. 5 stars
Such a rich and savory recipe! So amazing. One of my favorites for sure. I cooked light buttered pasta and topped it with the salmon and this sauce.

Instead of the coconut milk I used 1/2 cup almond coconut milk & 1/2 cup heavy cream. The lemon added a delightful kick to the recipe.

Been feeling a bit ‘blah’ lately in the cooking game. Usually it sparks joy (Haha), but lately with everything else, it just felt a bit like a chore. Been using your recipes for a few days now to try some new flavor flaves – yesterday was Persian herb and chickpea ‘stew’ – today was this delicious dish. Thanks for sharing your recipes. Searching for them is my favorite part of a 15-min lunch search, and making them is a favorite part of a post-work evening.

    1. Hi Megan! I am sorry to hear that! I hope my recipes are starting to spark more joy for you! Thank you so much! xTieghan

Absolutely amazing. My kids didn’t even notice they were eating spinach, which is a miracle in and of itself.

This recipe is quite possibly the best one I’ve found all year. I hardly ever enjoy fish and this is DELICIOUS. The sauce is absolutely amazing!

  57. Hello Tieghan! I make a lot of your recipes and forward them on. I don’t have an Instagram account otherwise I’d post them for you! Anyway, I cook vegetarian meals and a lot of your recipes that I’m drawn to usually involve Chic peas or coconut milk. My question is do you use unsweetened or regular? I know it’s full fat, but what about unsweetened?
    Thanks!

    1. Hi Wendy! I am so glad you have been enjoying my recipes and I hope you continue to!! I use unsweetened coconut milk! xTieghan

Hey! Made this last night and it was delicious! We only had two pieces of salmon, so we have a lot of leftover sauce. Any ideas for what to do with it?? Thanks!

    1. Hi Elizabeth,
So glad you enjoyed the recipe! You could use the leftover sauce for chicken or freeze it and use it again with more salmon. Please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan

Just made this recipe cause I happened to have all the ingredients. Oh man…it was amazing and so quick to make. I paired it with mashed potatoes which was perfect so I didn’t miss an ounce of the sauce! Thank you for the recipe 🙂

    1. Hi! Yes, you can omit it. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you!! xTieghan

Amazing recipe. I didn’t have shallots so I opt for regular onion (tiny pieces) and no lemon juice was used! My family loved it and will make again (weekly).

This dish was DELICIOUS. I don’t know if I have ever made something that made me want to lick the plate afterwards. Full confession: I did. Great recipe.

  66. 5 stars
So simple and delicious! I doubled the amount of spinach to take advantage of all of that delicious sauce, and it was still perfect. I went from checking out at the grocery store with the salmon to putting it on my plate in under an hour. It’s that easy.

  67. 5 stars
This was so delicious! My kids (2&4) helped me with it and the fact that it had parm and cream cheese totally sold them. They love it! ( lExcept for the spinach, but I served frozen peas with theirs.) Also, it was easy enough to cook with them without me going insane. I made it on a a Sunday but I think I could do it midweek, which is really saying something for me.

    1. Aw that is so sweet! I am really glad you all enjoyed this recipe Liz! Thank you so much for trying it! xTieghan

Great recipe for a creamed spinach lover. The next time you make a video of sautéing salmon over medium heat I’d like to see how you sauté the top side of the salmon to get it so evenly browned and with out having any of the salmon sticking to the skillet.

    1. Hey Madeline! Yes, I think that should work well. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you!! xTieghan

  69. This recipe is INSANE. I caught my husband scooping up the sauce with his fork. Planning to make it for a birthday dinner coming up. Your blog is incredible. Best find yet.

This is soooo delicious, we love it. I’m making it for a dinner party tomorrow night but I want it to be a little less salty. Besides not salting the salmon or adding any salt do you recommend other changes? Thanks! I know it will be a hit.

    1. Hey jenny! I would not change anything else. Those changes should make the dish way less salty. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I so glad you love this recipe! Thank you! xTieghan

This has been on our “make soon” list and tonight we dove in. So delicious!!! Make it just as is and enjoy the array of unexpected flavors. It is probably the 25th recipe we’ve made from HBH and will continue to enjoy these creations. Such a fan. In 30 mins on a weeknight you can create an amazing dish filled with comfort-foody flavors.

  72. I see artichokes in the pictures, but not listed in the recipe. Do we add them when we add in the spinach? I assume 1 can of quartered artichoke hearts. Thanks!!! Love the recipe.

    1. Hi Megan, there are not artichokes in this recipe or in the photos. If you would like to add artichokes I am sure that would be great! Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you! xTieghan

Oh. My. Gooooodness!! This dish is incredible and simple! On the table in under 30 mins and sooo yummy! Everyone was licking their plate ? Thank you for the recipe! Only thing I swapped was real cream instead of coconut milk. Can’t wait to make this again!!

This was delicious! We were cooking with leftover ingredients so we used half a can of coconut milk and about 4 ounces of cream cheese. We served the creamed spinach over a bed of quinoa and set the salmon on top. I was doubtful about adding the lemon juice to the spinach at the end but it was perfect. We saved a tiny bit of juice for the salmon just before serving.

  75. Only recently started reading this page after following you on Instagram. Such wonderful recipes, I am 59 years old and trying to cook better meals for myself, I have just noticed that your recipe allows you to change the quantities according to the number of people. This is a true godsend for people like me who living on their own may be put off my huge amounts of food, that may go to waste,

I really appreciate this part of your site and it has inspired me to try and make things I would otherwise pass on. Thank you so much it is truly appreciated and I wish more would do it.

    Happy New Year in 2020,

    1. Hi Scott! I am so glad you have been enjoying my blog and recipes! Thank you so much for trying them! I hope you continue to love the recipes! xTieghan

As we say here in the Burgh, GEEZ LOUISE!!!! This was sooooooo amazing. Just made it for the first time tonight! I was SWOONING. Actually licked my plate, no shame at all lol. My kids aren’t huge salmon fans, but I am, so this was a selfish dinner. I’m thinking it will be just as delicious with chicken! (Although I’ve also been eyeing the chicken florentine over polenta.) Thanks for the great recipes… we just recently discovered you when looking for some simple homemade ramen recipes to start with. Yours are great!

My husband grilled a huge salmon fillet and made the sauce to compliment the salmon. It was fabuloua. Our guests all wanted the recipe!

  78. I love you recipes! But this one surpassed all expectations and my boyfriend literally licked the plate clean! I swapped the cream cheese with garlic and herb Boursin and replaced the chives with coriander. Served with creamy mash potatoes and roasted tenderstem broccoli. Definitely making this dish again!!!! X

Amazing! My husband who cringes when he hears fish for dinner devoured! Served with a simple angel hair pasta with fresh Parmesan, olive oil, garlic and lemon juice!! It’s a keeper?. Thank you for an amazing recipe!

A tastry recipe. Needs a bit of tweeking and I will do so as a leftover as the flavors need more time to meld. I will say the prep/cooking time is off by about an hour if you are cooking by yourself. Could be really amazing dish.

Hi just made the Garlic butter creamed spinach salmon. I tried it because I realized I always make salmon the same way. OMG this is soooooooooo good!!! I was nervous about using coconut milk which I am not accustomed to using but I am so glad I tried it. This is restaurant worthy. Can’t wait to make this for a dinner party with my food snobbie friends who only eat salmon. Next time I will follow your suggestion and get some crusty bread and a good bottle of wine.
PS: I have already pre-ordered your new book.

    1. I am SO glad this turned out so well for you Patricia! Thank you so much for trying it and I hope your friends love it as well! xTieghan

  82. Looks amazing! I’m thinking of making this for a dinner party next weekend. What sides would you recommend??

Just made this recipe tonight!!! I was apprehensive about the coconut milk so I made it with 3/4 cup coconut milk and 1/4 heavy cream and couldn’t taste the coconut milk at all. Next time I will skip the cream. This was a 10/10 dinner!! Thank you for the recipe. ?

  84. Tieghan,
Love the salmon recipe! Easy, restaurant quality and delicious! This will be a staple for sure.

    Thanks

OMG! The new favorite salmon recipe and I did not think I could top my last favorite, We are a family of four with two boys-ages 10 and 11 and they complained the first night when they saw we were having salmon…until they tasted this! We are having it again tonight-3rd week in a row! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your recipes T!

  86. I literally just scarfed down this dish! My grocer didn’t have shallots so I used red onion and I may have put a bit too much spinach but overall I stayed true to the recipe. It was like I was being served at a restaurant. Many thanks to you for sharing this recipe!

    1. Hey Laura, You can omit the cream cheese or you can use plain greek yogurt or additional coconut cream. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you! xTieghan

  87. Do you think some Greek yogurt could be subbed for the cream cheese? Worried I won’t use a whole thing of cream cheese if I buy it!

    1. Hi Julie!! Yes, I think yogurt could work great. BUT I do worry the yogurt could curdle from the heat. I would recommend adding 1/4 cup yogurt when you add the parmesan and spinach. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you! xTieghan

  88. What would you suggest as a substitute for coconut milk? Heavy cream, half and half, 2%milk, or almond milk? Coconut milk is all the rage right now and is great for people because it’s a healthier option unless you’re allergic to coconut, like me.

    1. Hey Elizabeth! I recommend using heavy cream or whole milk for this recipe. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you! xTieghan

I made this for dinner tonight as the evenings have cooled somewhat and I was hankering for something warm, comforting and delicious. It didn’t disappoint. An easy to put together great tasting dish. I will definitely add this to my recipe folder.

As a mom of three kid 4 and under I’m always searching for easy recipes and had some salmon that needed to be used. This hit the spot and was delicious! We put the salmon and sauce over some bucatini for a Saturday treat. ?

I’m eating leftovers for lunch, as I type this. I absolutely love this recipe!!! The only thing I didn’t include was the parsley and chives b/c I forgot to buy them. This is going on the regular rotation!!! So easy!

I’ve made this twice! The second time I used chicken. Great flavors and easy to make. Thanks for a tasty recipe!

Absolutely delicious and unique. Bursts with flavor, easy prep and healthy. What more could you ask for. Thank you!

This recipe came out great, I would not typically use Parmesan cheese with salmon, but it tasted good together. I used heave cream instead of coconut milk, so I skipped the cream cheese.

  96. 5 stars
Absolutely delicious! I was very hesitant to use coconut milk because I thought this was very odd with parmesan cheese but I was wrong! Trust the recipe!

  97. Hello 🙂
The recipe sounds amazing. We will try it next weekend 🙂 do you mind sharing where your ceramic plate is from? They look stunning! 🙂
    Thank you, Lena x

I’m not the biggest spinach fan—thoughts on using kale instead?? Very excited to try this and hoping kale would make a great substitute. Love all your recipes and cookbook!

    1. Hey Allison! Kale will be delicious! I would add it 3-4 minutes earlier to help it wilt down properly. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you! xTieghan

WOW! I made this last night for the cat and I (OK, her salmon was just plain), and I was blown away by how good it was. I don’t even like cooked salmon all that much, so I really didn’t expect it to be *that* good. I made roasted potatoes to go with it, to make sure I got all the sauce. I didn’t have cream cheese in the fridge, so it was on my grocery list, but when I remembered that I had some Basil and Chive Boursin, I decided to use that in place of both cream cheese and the chives, and I don’t know if that made it even better, but I was sad when dinner was over.

    Hi Tieghan,
This recipe was simply amazing thank you!! The flavors all went together really well. I draw so much inspiration from all your recipes. I told my chef he should look at your blog and incorporate your ideas. I am impressed how you add unique elements to everyday staples we use in cooking well done!! One question about this recipe. How long do you find it takes for the spinach to wilt?? When I cooked it the spinach never really wilted. I was afraid to leave the salmon in there to long while waiting for the spinach.

    1. HI Mike! Typically my spinach wilts within 2-3 minutes of being in the sauce. Was your spinach unusually large by chance? Next time, just add the spinach a little earlier so it wilts for you. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I am so glad you love this recipe! Thank you! xTieghan

A-freakin-mazing recipe! Might be my favorite one yet!! I made the recipe exactly as directed using coconut milk and double the herbs (I cut them, might as well use them!). I put the salmon and sauce over jasmine rice for a meal with the right balance of carbs and protein. A note for those interested in nutritional value: per serving there is about 906 calories and 92g protein (depending on the size of your salmon. Also lots of good and healthy Omega fatty acids. I most definitely will make this again – and soon!

10 out of 5 – would recommend! I think the sauce is so versatile it could be used with a variety of fish.
I fell in love with your site about 6 months ago and have been Making your recipes for a couple of months. And every one has been put into the ‘will make again’ folder. (I have made the asparagus quiche twice.)
Thank you for your dedication to healthy tasty food! I am really looking forward to summer!

PS I live north of you in the urban legend state – Wyoming. And I also am anxious for spring – even if it only starts in my kitchen.

    1. Wow thank you Wendy! I am so glad you loved this and YES lets make spring happen! xTieghan

Decided to take a risk and make a new recipe for my husbands former boss coming over for dinner and tried this. I have only made salmon like two times before in my life so in retrospect it was kind of dumb of me. The good news is that this recipe was really foolproof and delicious and seemed classy despite being pretty unfussy. Everyone loved it and will make it for such occasions again. I served with mashed potatoes and roasted broccoli salad w cranberries and almonds. Make it! Enjoy it!

I made this recipe last night for our family and it was a hit! I have NEVER liked salmon and this changed that. We will definitely make this again. We are also looking into more of the salmon recipes on HBH. I’ve never been much of a cook, but HBH has changed that.

loved this recipe! don’t normally make salmon dishes but i think this one is going to be added into our repetoire 🙂 just discovered your blog and have bookmarked so many things! thanks so much 🙂

I enjoyed this tonight with my family. It was very delicious. I chose to do a half cup of heavy cream and a half cup of coconut cream and the turnout was very pleasing.

Made this for our Easter dinner. It was absolutely delicious! I did half cream cheese & half marscapone (left over from the carrot cake cupcakes). Also omitted the parsley (because I forgot to get some ;). I sprinkled some fresh thyme on top instead. Served with lemon roasted potatoes & parmesan green beans. So good!

  108. 5 stars
This dish was absolutely delicious! My husband and I loved it! And, we liked that it didn’t have too many ingredients but was still full of flavor. Thank you!

We bought fancy salmon from the local fish truck (it isn’t as sketchy as it sounds), and I couldn’t think of a better way to eat it! The sauce was phenomenal and so rich. We felt like we were eating at a fancy restaurant. And the best part is how easy it is to make. Thank you for the recipe!

  110. We have family in for Easter weekend, and I made this for them last night (Good Friday). Wow! my 14yo son says it’s the best salmon dish he’s ever, had and that I shall make no other salmon dishes but this one from now on, AND would I teach him how to make it? High praise indeed. I served it over thin spaghetti, and although I had to make minor adjustments to give me a bigger yield (for 5 adults and 2 teens), I stayed pretty true to the recipe. Many thanks!

  111. My cream sauce cooked down a lot, any tips to prevent this in the future. Still very delicious! Easy recipe, loved this take on salmon. Love all your recipes!

This was an incredible, and easy, weeknight dinner. Even my 3, 4, and 5 year old were impressed. This is the first recipe of yours I’ve tried, but I feel confident it won’t ce the last

    1. Thank you Mary! I am so glad you loved this recipe and I hope you continue to love others on my site! xTieghan

This was soooo amazing! I make salmon once a week and was looking for something new and exciting to change things up. This was it! It’s so gourmet, yet so easy to prepare. I bet it would be amazing over angel hair pasta too. Definitely serving this at my next dinner party. Thanks for another amazing recipe!!

  114. 5 stars
I made this for dinner last night and it’s amazing. I had some leftover asparagus I needed to use up so I added that in too – delicious!

  115. 5 stars
The flavor and ease was totally worth it. The sauce had great flavor that enhanced the salmon without masking it. I don’t really care for salmon, but my family really likes it. I will certainly make this again. The only change I made (unintentional) was to substitute white wine for lemon juice-I swear there was a lemon on the counter this afternoon!
    Served over risotto-perfect.

Bought the ingredients for this the other day, but ended up using the salmon last night in a different application (we just put it on the grill with some asparagus). So tonight armed with all the rest of the ingredients, I made it with boneless pork chops ! Seasoned them with lemon pepper, salt & smoked paprika, fried them up, removed from pan & made the sauce, then nestled them back in to cook al the way through. Such a delicious combo that I can’t wait to try with salmon ! Haha ! Thank you Tieghan !!

AMAZING. My husband and I chose to make this Salmon dish for a date night in and it was a hit! The coconut milk makes it creamy and pairs well with all the other flavors!

The sauce is amazing. A wonderful switch from roasting salmon in the oven. Just the sauce itself could be used over pasta or rice. Looking forward to making this again!

Wow, we eat a lot of salmon and I think it’s safe to say this was one of our favourite dishes ever! Looks impressive and tastes gorgeous too! Will be a firm family favourite for sure. Huge thanks for sharing your wonderful skill with food and helping me educate my twin 12 year old girls about the importance of cooking and eating good tasty healthy food! I’ve made so many of your dishes and can’t wait to try more ?

Looks and sounds scrumptious…and forget weekday… this has special meal weekend status! Just one question: doesn’t the lemon juice curdle the cream, or does that only happen with dairy cream?

    1. Hey Anne! I like to add the lemon juice towards the end of cooking so I do not have any issues with it cuddling. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I hope you love this recipe! Thank you! xTieghan

Made this tonight- amazing flavour, quick and simple. Substituted a spoonful of natural yoghurt at the end instead of the cream cheese as didn’t have it in the fridge and it worked well, thank you!

My husband licked his plate so clean that I almost put it back into the cupboard – I probably would have if I hadn’t recognized the same look from my own plate! This was so great – thank you so much.

  123. This recipe was absolutely fantastic. One of our favorites ever! Wouldn’t change a thing. Thank you. (ps, one thing I might change is make sure to mention when to add the parmesan 🙂

  124. This recipe came at the perfect time. I had salmon filets and needed a new way to try them. Loved the coconut milk as a healthier alternative for cream sauce and so did my family! Delicious

*The instructions didn’t say when to add the Parmesan Cheese so I guessed and added it to the sauce after the spinach (????)

    1. Hey Zooey! So glad you loved this recipe! I fixed the parmesan, but you added it at the right time! 🙂 Please let me know if you have any other questions. Again, so glad you love this recipe! Thank you! xTieghan
