5 Ingredient Beer Bread…and that includes the salt.

I was never, ever, planning on posting this bread and not because it’s not amazingly delicious.

Because I promise you, this bread will rock your world. So much so that you may be making it once a week from here on out. It’s just that good and by far the easiest thing I make. Without a doubt.

The only reason I was not going to post this recipe is because it’s embarrassingly easy. One bowl, five-minute prep – tops (seriously tops), and five ingredients that I honestly think most everyone always has on hand.

Flour, baking powder, honey, salt, and beer.

That’s it you guys. And as I already said, it’s honestly one of the best loaves of bread you’ll ever have.

Today is the day I’m giving in and showing you guys one of my most requested recipes.

I’m not lying, I make a lot of food (A LOT). Actually, I make so much food that typically we have two or three freshly baked desserts lying around on any given day. You’d think I would give them away, but I can’t. By the time I’m done shooting them, and by the time my family has gotten their hands on the treats, it looks like an animal got to them.

In all fairness, I do a number on them while photographing, but my family kind of destroys them. Some people pick off their favorite parts first. Some people go straight for the middle. And some people dump the containers upside down, shake em side to side and do a little dance well they’re at it.

My mom actually asked me if I had anything for her to take to this “thing” she had last night. I was like, seriously…sure, if you want to take the bars and that cake…that looks like animals got to it. Yeah, she passed. So I quickly whipped her up a batch of this beer bread. So easy and such a crowd pleaser!

This bread is practically a staple on our dinner table. I mean, we’re having it again tonight.

It’s good enough that I make it when we have people over, bring it with me if we ever actually go anywhere (which is never, but I would) and have even made it on Thanksgiving and Christmas. People love this bread, love, love, love it.

It actually still amazes me how much people love it and how incredibly easy it is. It’s just plain bizarre.

If you are scared of homemade bread, this is the bread to make. You can’t mess it up. Ok, well I’m sure if you added way too much baking powder, dumped in tablespoons of salt, or maybe accidentally grabbed the powdered sugar instead of the flour. Yeah, in that case, I think it would be bad.

But I don’t think that’s going to happen.

I like this bread paired best with homemade chili or gumbo. But it’s also great as a side with roasted chicken, grilled steak, or even leftover for breakfast. I am telling you, this is your new favorite bread. Trust me!

So SO good! Super easy. I put it in for 35 minutes and noticed the bottom was a bit over cooked, but still delicious. Will be making again!

Okay this is absolutely amazing and my house smells so lovely! My bottoms are a little burned and it was hard to cut through without messing up the top but this could be my full knives! Any tips on these issues?

    1. Hey Brooke,
Thanks for trying the recipe, so glad to hear it was enjoyed! What kind of pan did you make the bread in? Did you use glass? I would try a metal pan and then a bread knife for cutting. I hope this helps! xTieghan

My family loves this bread. It literally just came out of the oven and is already half eaten. I spread a slab of butter and drizzled honey on their warm slices. So good. Crispy, chewy outside and soft and semi dense on the inside. I will be making this again. Already wrote it down in my recipe box.

I just made this recipe using Shipyard Pumpkin as the beer and it came out perfectly! I have a feeling this recipe is going to be a staple for our family for years to come. I’ve been considering buying a breadmaker, but having made this, I no longer feel the need. The easiest, and best bread recipe ever! I can’t wait to experiment with different beers!

    1. Hey Nicole,
I appreciate you making this recipe and sharing your review, I am so glad it was enjoyed! It’s a family fave over here as well! Have a great day:)

  5. I only had a VERY bitter IPA in the fridge, so the bread turned out rather bitter as well. My kids couldn’t handle it, haha. Next time I would use a much more mild beer.

    1. Hi Elizabeth,

This is a MUST try bread. I had all the ingredients and decided that I was going to make it, and it did not disappoint. It was moist and delicious with a lovely light brown top. I made your honey butter…oooh so yummy! I am loving your recipes.

I made a loaf per directions a few weeks back and it was amazing! I just used a Heineken that was in my fridge. I told my family it’s called “Jazz Bread” because I was playing some light jazz while making it. 🙂

Today I haves a Stella Artois, and I’m mixing it up a bit and using some hot honey that I made last month and need to use up. And sprinkling some Everything but the Bagel seasoning on top! Fingers crossed it comes out as tasty as I’m hoping!

    1. Hey Jim,
Happy Monday!! I am thrilled to hear this recipe was a hit, thanks for trying it out and sharing your review:) Yum, sounds like a great idea!

So delicious! Are there any substitutions for baking powder you would suggest for this recipe? Just as cream of tarter with baking soda or buttermilk with baking soda? If not no worries! Thank you Tieghan!

    1. Hey there,
Amazing!! I am thrilled that this dish was a hit, thanks a lot for trying it out! So sorry, I’ve had the best results using baking powder:) xTieghan

This bread is addicting and I’m amazed at how easy it is. I used a kolsch the first time, which was a little too light in flavor in my opinion, and the second time I used a wheat beer. The wheat beer is my favorite so far because you can definitely taste it but it’s not overpowering. I want to try a pumpkin beer when it’s in season (:

    1. Hey Christina,
Awesome!! I am so glad you enjoyed this recipe, it’s my families favorite:) xTieghan

        1. Hi Jodi,
Yes, that will work well for you! I hope you love this recipe, please let me know if you give it a try! xTieghan

  10. I’ve made this bread before and loved it! I noticed this time that the butter melted to the bottom of the pan and thus the bottom was very buttery while the top was not. Do you normally press the butter into the dough slightly?

    1. Hi Lauren,
Happy Wednesday! Thanks a lot for making this recipe and sharing your feedback, I love to hear that it was enjoyed:) I typically don’t press the butter into the dough, but you totally can, it wouldn’t hurt anything! xx

  11. Great consistency and the crust is fabulous. We found the rest of the bread kinda bland. Did I do something wrong? Can you recommend any herbs to give it a lift?

    1. Hey Lisa,
Thanks for giving this recipe a try! We really enjoy it as is, but you could add anything you like to it:) xTieghan

    1. Hi Christina,
So sorry, I probably wouldn’t that for this recipe:) Please let me know if you have any other questions, I hope you love this recipe! xx

          1. Hi Katherine,
I love using a pumpkin beer this time of year, but I’ve also used everything from a Modelo to a leftover PBR from my brothers…I just wouldn’t use an IPA. I hope you love the recipe! xx

    1. Hey Rebecca,
So glad to hear this bread was enjoyed, it’s a fave over at my house! Thanks for making it! xTieghan
