And here we go! It’s finally time to share the first Thanksgiving cocktail of the holiday season. We’ve got only two Saturdays left before Thanksgiving and I have each day set with cocktails that I’m so excited to share. First, the Thanksgiving “party” punch.

I struggled with just what to call this pretty cocktail because I know many of us are not gathering for large Thanksgiving dinners this year. We’ve all said, it’s going to be a different holiday season. But that doesn’t mean our celebrations should be any less fun, even if they’re on the smaller side.

And let’s be real, no matter the size of your Thanksgiving gathering, everyone needs a good punch.

So whether you’re celebrating with a small group, or there’s just two of you…party punch is essential. And the leftovers are even better come black Friday.

Making this spiced cranberry punch is easy.

The key to this fun drink is the cranberry jam/syrup. It uses fresh fruit just like a jam would, but its consistency is much more syrup-like. It’s a bit of a cross between jam and syrup. Whatever you’d like to call it, it’s a delicious mix of sweet honey, fresh tart cranberries, spicy ginger, cinnamon, plus warming all-spice and cloves. The honey balances out the tart cranberries, while the mulling spices add coziness and warmth. Perfect for a Thanksgiving cocktail

To make the jam, just add all ingredients to a pot. Bring to a boil, boil a minute or two, and done. So simple and easy, but it’s the heart of this drink.

Once the jam has cooled, strain out the mulling spices and burst cranberries. You can either leave some of the burst cranberries swirled throughout the jam, or strain them all out. I like to leave some of the cranberries behind. I love the festive color they add to each drink.

Once the jam has been strained, add it to a large pitcher with cranberry juice, orange juice, and vodka. Chill until ready to serve, then simply top the punch off with sparkling water.

Couldn’t be easier. If you wanted to switch up the alcohol, a spiced rum would be especially delicious and fun too! In fact, I might make a rum version for my family, they’d love it!

Finish it up.

Just before serving, add fresh orange slices. I used blood oranges, but small clementines would be great, and really pretty too.

This cocktail is both refreshing and warming, perfect for a chilly November night, or a snow-filled Thanksgiving Day…which is exactly what I’m hoping for this year. Complete with freshly baked pies, candles, and family.

Already so excited!

  1. Made several changes to this but it was delicious. Had to swap the cranberries for raspberries because cranberries were not in stock or in season.

Then I also made it with rum instead of vodka. And I mixed it with just a dash of orange juice. I think both the cranberry juicy and the orange just completely wiped out the taste of alcohol. I wanted the drink to be more spirit forward so I minimized the juice.
Plus less sugar equals less of a hangover! Lol

I also served it neat instead of on the rocks. And I also did not top it off with sparkling water.

I used The cinnamon sugar on the rim!

So essentially I changed the whole recipe to my liking but Everything came out absolutely delicious and will be making it again!

This looks so fun and delicious. I want to make this for Christmas Day. I’m hoping I can make the cranberry jam today and then put that in the fridge till Christmas morning and then assemble the drink? Do you think that will be ok? I bought spiced rum, so that’s the version I’m making.

    1. Hey Karol,
Yes, that will be just fine for you to do! I hope you love this recipe, let me know if you give it a try! Cheers! xT

I made this for our mid-century mod Christmas cocktail party and everyone loved it and wanted the recipe. I made large rosemary and cranberry ice cubes and added those to the punch to keep it cold. Definitely a keeper!

    1. Hey Tanya,
Happy Wednesday!! I truly appreciate you giving this recipe a try and sharing your review, so glad to hear it was a hit:)

  4. I think this is lovely. I would suggest a tweak to the recipe card. It reads: “3. Just before serving, add the sparkling water. If desired, rim each class in Chai sugar (recipe in notes), then fill with ice and pour the punch over. Garnish each drink with an orange slice and star anise, if desired.” The recipe calls for 4-6 12 ounce cans. I thought 48-72 ounces seemed like quite a lot of water so I decided to just start with the 24 ounce Pelegrino bottle I had and added it to the pitcher before serving. Sadly it was very watered down. I now see you mention in your blog post to just “top off” with the sparkling water. Unfortunately, that is not how the recipe reads. Hopefully others won’t make the same mistake after making that beautiful simple syrup.

    1. Hi Jennifer,
Thanks so much for giving this recipe a try and sharing your feedback. So sorry to hear this was not clear for you, I can go back and reread this part. Cheers! xx

  5. If I would like to serve this alcohol free would you just omit the vodka or would you add anything else instead?

    Ty!

Just made the bourbon cupcakes (we celebrate friendsgiving on Saturday living in Sweden we do not have Thanksgiving off from work, so pushing it to Saturday. And always inviting a new family that has never experienced an american Thanksgiving).

    1. Hi Johanna,
Yes, I would just skip the vodka and add some more sparkling water. Please let me know if you have any other questions! Thanks so much for making the cupcakes!! xx

This was my second year making this and it was just as much a hit this year! You can’t taste the alcohol at all! I did leave my cranberry juice soaking overnight to absorb more flavor. So delicious!! Thank you for all your recipes, I made about 5 of them this Thanksgiving and they were all hits!

    1. Hi Amanda,
Thank you so much for making this recipe, I love to hear that it was a winner! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! xx
