Thanks for joining me for another Nine Favorite Things post.

Nine Favorite Things | halfbakedharvest.com

How is tomorrow Memorial Day? This week was such a whirlwind that at this point, I really am confused as to what day it is. After a full week in LA (more on that below) I arrived home late Friday night and pretty much hit the ground running, continuing to work on my never-ending project. I keep thinking it’s finally finished…but then it’s not. After today, fingers crossed that I dotted all the i’s and crossed all the t’s, because I am really ready to be done. Other than that, I spent yesterday catching up a bit. I’m hoping to carve out some time to spend with my family tomorrow for Memorial Day.

What are you guys up to this Memorial Day weekend? If you’re still searching for recipe ideas, check out the links below to kick-off the first BBQ of the year!

I want to take a minute to thank all those who have served our country, and to remember those who have given their lives, to fight for a better life for us today. I hope you all take some time out tomorrow to thank those who bravely risk their lives daily to serve our country.

Lastly, if you missed anything from the past week, be sure to sign up for our newsletter here. Hope you’re all having the best weekend, and enjoy this Sunday’s Nine Favorite Things!

1. LA Trip Recap.

{with Laurel Gallucci and her sweet son Nico}

As most of you know by now, I spent this past week in LA. I think it was my longest time spent in the city. It was such a great week, but I was all over the place. Happy to be home for sure. And also very happy to have missed all the snow that fell in Colorado. Unfortunately, in looking at the forecast, I see that there is more snow in the future. Will it ever stop?

Anyway, I flew into LA Sunday afternoon and spent some time getting organized before the busy week ahead. I even got my nails done. Regrettably, about 30 seconds after walking out of the salon I already had them chipped…and that was that. If I’m being honest, I smudged them while in the salon too. I’m just not someone who can handle having their nails painted.

{with Chriselle Lim and her sweet daughter Colette}

Monday through Wednesday it was up bright an early (with a 4:45 am wake-up on Tuesday). We had back to back days of filming a new series we’re working on that will be coming to our Instagram (and the blog) very soon. I don’t want to give away all the details just yet. But we got together with some amazing people and filmed 8 new videos. We cooked delicious recipes and had some really fun conversations in between. I really can’t wait to share these fun videos with you all, and hear what you have to say! These videos are pretty different from our usual videos. You guys will actually get to see myself and a guest create a recipe together. Fingers crossed that you will love them!

We took Thursday off from filming. I had a couple of meetings (one of which was at Gjusta in Venice), a fun cocktail photo shoot, and caught up on emails in between.

Friday I filmed a segment with Hallmark Home & Family that will air tomorrow. We made my asparagus and brie puff pastry and I had the best time. Everyone on that show is overly kind and just makes things fun and easy. You can watch the segment here.

I ran straight from Home & Family to film one last video before flying out late Friday night. Me being me, I was of course, very stressed about my tight schedule. But thankfully it all worked out, and we ended the week with a very fun guest and cool video. So excited for it to all come together soon!

A pretty busy week, but also fun to be out of my kitchen. And not only out of my kitchen, but pushing myself out of my comfort zone too. I’m a homebody at heart though, so…happy to be home for sure.

But then also excited to be planning more videos, more projects, and more travel in the very near future. Always looking on to the next project!

4. Questions of The Week:

q: how soon do you consume the recipes after making them?
a: I cook and photograph recipes during the day. Once I’ve finished photographing a recipe I’ll stick it in the fridge. It will be dinner that night or the following night, depending on what’s already in the fridge! So yeah, it’s technically leftover, but gotta do what you gotta do! If I’m testing recipes, a lot of times I’ll get friends and family into the studio to try things for lunch/afternoon bites. My mom’s personal favorite is when I make breakfast food…aka Dutch babies, French toast, etc.

q: if you suddenly hated cooking, what job would you pick?
a: I’d work in design. If not food styling then either styling interiors or fashion. Certainly something creative.

q: what is your favorite summertime cocktail?
a: I have so many, but here are a few…

strawberry hibiscus margarita

blackberry bourbon smash

summertime rosè tequila sangria

spicy gingered mango margarita

  1. I absolutely love love love your recipes and I have to say I look forward to your favorite things post every week. Thank you so so much for sharing and inspiring me to become a better cook and blogger! Have a great week and I hope the snow stops soon!!!

  2. I would love to see some more recipes for picnics, that are easy to pack, don’t have to be reheated or stay warm well if your picnic is 30 minutes away or so, and that look beautiful! I also always love individual serving size recipes for desserts. And your cocktail recipes are so fun to try! Thanks so much for all you share!

  3. I’d love summer pancake recipes and recipes to bring to potlucks (galettes, side dishes, etc.)!

  4. Tieghan! I had to smile when I read your “10 Most Beautiful Lakeside Hotels in the World”. Although, I have never stayed in any of the hotels you’ve listed, I have been to Lake Como in Italy and Udaipur in India! Actually Lake Como was just last summer. The hubby and I have never gone the five star hotel route. We are more about being around the locals and can stay in any little hole in the wall, as long as it’s not a dive. Heck, last summer we stayed in a little room above a pizza place in Amsterdam, and it was in the absolute centre of everything. We had so much fun exploring! But, if you “ever” get the chance to go to Lake Como, do it! So many little places to stop off and visit. Bellagio is gorgeous and everywhere you go you are surrounded by mountains. We were living in Milan, and it was a short train trip there. A few years ago we did a trip through Rajasthan in Northern India and stopped in Udaipur, Jaipur, etc…tons of places. India has it gems and is likely the most interesting place we’ve been to, but is not for the faint of heart. Lots of places out in the world to see!

    1. Wow that seems like so much fun and I totally want to go to all of those places! It is so amazing you were able to see all of these and I cannot wait to! Thank you Colleen! xTieghan
