Nine Favorite Things 9 | halfbakedharvest.com @hbharvest

{summer fruit with my favorite little sister}

Thanks for joining me for another Nine Favorite Things post!

Happy Sunday! Hoping you guys are enjoying your weekend. I am so happy to be home and chilling this weekend. I spent the first half of the week in Minneapolis for a work trip and while it was a great trip (filled with amazing weather), it meant Thursday and Friday were spent playing catch up on all other things. Still a bit behind so I’m hoping to spend some time today getting caught back up! I spent yesterday working away on the computer and then broke free around five for some time in the sun and a nice little break. Did a pasta dinner and a movie later on, it was perfect.

Such a glamorous life I have, right? Right. I’ve been extra busy working on some fun projects I will be sharing soon. I could not be more excited, so keep an eye out for those announcements! This coming week will be filled with summertime recipes (hello to veggie burgers, pastas, and summer sides), sweet treats (fruity tarts and ice cream cakes), and one of my favorite Cocktail Saturday posts yet!

In the meantime, here are my nine favorite things of the week! Enjoy and have a great Sunday!

PS. I don’t really follow sports, BUT I have to give a big shout out to the Cavs for killing it in game four on Friday. I’ll always be a Cleveland girl at heart, so GO CAVS!

1. My little barn has been my favorite place these last two weeks. The sunlight around 6 to 7 pm is my favorite. It’s golden hour and so beautiful. The windows are open and there’s the most perfect summer breeze. These longer, warmer days have inspired a summer refresh around the barn (…along with a deep clean for an upcoming photo shoot at the end of the month). Here are a few items I recently purchased and am loving.

–> loving this giant salad bowl for loaded farmers market salads.

–> with every good salad bowl you need some good salad serving pieces and these pretty wood ones are my favorite.

–> I am all about cocktails this summer and I love these pineapple glasses.

–> summer parties are not complete without punch. I love this punch set, it’s even cuter in person!

–> I am in need of new stools and these cute stools are high on my list. What do you guys think, do you like them?

–> I have these wicker baskets all over my house. They’re perfect for hiding clutter and make last-minute cleaning a breeze.

–> this is my favorite stylish blanket. It’s added a pop of color to my couch.

2. A few links:

Hilary Swanks morning routine is super interesting…and whoa, she likes a mean green smoothie.

7 quick summer weekend escapes…Bermuda and Jackson Hole, Wyoming look incredible.

Successful people do these 5 things before 8am…I do three of the five. How about you?

3. I had little miss Asher over at my house on both Thursday and Friday afternoon. She is out of school for summer and is bored out of her mind, so I have seen a lot more of her during the day. After she spent most of the afternoon on Thursday helping me with a fun Crate and Barrel shoot, I promised her we’d make cookies as her reward. She was surprisingly so helpful and the cookies where the perfect way to end the day. We also made a blackberry smash mocktail, which was pretty dang delish. If you want the boozy version though, just click –> HERE.

On Friday, she assisted with some outside fruit photos and instead of cookies as an end of the day treat…which around here is about 7 or 8pm (I wish I was joking, but I am totally serious) she requested a giant fruit bowl. Girl after my own heart right there. Fruit bowls are my favorite, so we made this giant platter and called it dinner…and THEN ate cookies for dessert. Obviously.

4. Here are some of my summer tequila drinks…Mexico I am ready!

5. New videos:

–> three layer coconut eton mess cake with whipped ricotta…my favorite light summer cake.

–> korean kulgogi BBQ steak bowls…the family’s favorite Korean recipe. It’s SO good.

–> melon lemonade margarita popsicles…SO EASY. SO GOOD.

6. Want glowing skin for summer? Here is the summer make-up beauty editors are obsessed with.

7. Facebook Live Q&A: I’ve been having a lot of fun hanging out with you guys every Friday on Facebook Live (sorry for last Friday, the day just got away from me!) and I’m excited to share that after a ton of requests I am going to do a Live Q&A. Yes!! You guys, I don’t really understand why, but apparently you have tons of questions for me! If you happen to be one of those people, now is your chance to ask me just about anything and I will answer! Bring on any and all questions, nothing is off limit so ask away! Leave your questions in the comments below and if you have a time and day that works best for you to watch this LIVE session, please let me know. I’m hoping to do it this week! I will be sure to make an announcement on both the blog and Facebook at least a day before, so keep an eye out for when it will be happening! OK, so start asking questions!

8. Love all these design tips to make your small home look like a mansion. I am a huge fan of displaying cheese boards all over my kitchen. Tip: they cover up ugly outlets on the backsplash!

  1. Love these recipes and some are sure to become summer favorites around here (starting with the Thai salad and the chicken san, which looked so good it made me sad I’d eaten dinner already before reading it, so should wait til tomorrow before all that yumminess…ha.)! –Just wanted to say when I clicked the link to the ice cream bars back three years ago, I found the story of Asher, her friends and the bar-creation back then, incredibly charming and as delightful as the recipe! (which is saying something, given how fun the recipe sounds!) You do such a great job with your posts and recipes. And as someone who has been obsessed with good writing, food photography and creative healthy-ish cooking for many decades, I was really amazed to see how much your artistry has grown in these three years. Your writing has matured, your recipes keep getting crazier and your photography has really continued to blossom. You are an inspiration. You truly deserve the success you are receiving in your work. Thanks for all the great food!

    1. Hi Toni!! So happy you are liking the recipes!!
I can’t believe you remember that post!! So amazing to hear you say that about me, thank you so much.
You made my night with this one so thank you so much (:

  2. OH YES QUESTIONS!!! ok ok, finally, my question: honestly how on earth do you get through all the food you’re constantly cooking? I (hopefully) assume you don’t just throw it out? I’m big into preventing food waste and am curious as to how you manage to make and hopefully consume all of that food…

    1. Hey Natala! Nope, I do not throw it out. Luckly I have a HUGE family and plenty of friends who all eat the food I make. If there is too much, I try to freeze it for later. I try pretty hard to not let too much go to waste. Hope that answers your question. Let me know if you have any others! 🙂

  3. I’m a fairly new food blogger and your barn has me envious! The amount of platters, dishes, linens, cloths and props I have been accumulating are starting to take over my office space! You are such an inspiration! Thank you!!!

  4. Recently found and am LOVING your blog. Just pinned a whole lotta recipes from you and am making Magical Chocolate Almond Butter Super Food Seed Bars today (my husband wants to take them for additional “fuel” when he does the Manitou incline on Thursday). Summertime Basil Chicken Curry, Zesty Shrimp Tacos & Spicy Maple Grilled Chicken Sammy have also been added to this week’s menu – it’ll be like we’re eating dinner together! From one Colorado cook to another, thank you for what you do!

  5. I need those shrimp tacos in my life, and I’m still loving the idea of Friday pasta nights! I’m so looking forward to your posts for this coming week – bring on the veggie burgers and summer sides! 🙂

  6. Yum! I love seeing all these summer flavors! I am all about making a to-do list first thing in the morning – every day! I try to do the other 4 things but I’m not 100 percent consistent! Have a beautiful week =)

  7. It’s 8:00 in the morning but I’ll have the pasta dish, fruit plate, and the blackberry drink. It all looks good to me.

  8. I look forward to your favourites posts every week! I love the weekly meal plans because you remind us readers of past recipes (and your recipes are far too good to only make once!!). And I always love your style picks, be it home decor or fashion.
