Thanks for joining me for another Nine Favorite Things post.

Nine Favorite Things | halfbakedharvest.com

Saturday (so yesterday) was the first day I was able to finally take completely off from cooking and shooting in over 4 weeks. I wish I was exaggerating, but I just looked at my calendar and I hadn’t had a day off from cooking since I was in LA, which was 4 weeks ago. Beyond crazy, right? All that cooking and shooting, you’d think I wouldn’t want to cook or pick up a camera again for weeks. But I’m actually still motivated and excited to get right back into the kitchen this coming week. Taking the weekend off was/is very much needed, so I’m really thankful for this time!

Half of my family is currently in Palm Beach this weekend. They’re soaking up some warmer weather and enjoying the beautiful flowers around this charming Florida town. I don’t normally use the word charming, but it’s the best word I can think to describe Palm Beach. It’s kind of fancy, feels a little bit southern in a way, and all kinds of beautiful.

It will always be such a special place for me to visit. My grandma and I would take a trip down to my grandparent’s home in Jupiter, FL every summer when I was a kid. We’d always do a day of lunching and shopping in Palm Beach. Even as a kid, I was memorized by the town’s beauty. It has that old school charm to it and so much color thanks to the pastel flowers, the blue ocean, and colorful store fronts. I just love walking around and taking it all in!

Coming up this week on HBH, I have a few last-minute Easter recipes, including a fun brunch recipe. There will also be a new side dish and a chicken dinner perfect for grilling season. Which seems pretty far off from where I sit…we had a lot of snow in CO this week. And a Friday post that I can hardly wait to share!

Lastly, if you missed anything from the past week, be sure to sign up for our newsletter here. Hope you’re all having the best weekend, and enjoy this Sunday’s Favorites!

1. The Little Market Eco Conscious Mother’s Day Gift Guide.

To help celebrate Earth Day and all things spring, I created a gift guide with The Little Market showcasing their eco-friendly products. These are some of my favorite items they carry. They would make great gifts for Mother’s Day, birthdays, a simple thank you gift, and really anything and everything in between!

Shop my picks below and learn more about all the amazing work The Little Market team does here (scroll down).

Glassware

These gorgeous glasses are hand-etched with recycled glass from artisans in Mexico.

Olive Wood Spoons

My favorite spoons! These are handmade from wild olive wood by carvers in Kenya.

Palm Shopper

This hand-woven bag is made with locally sourced grasses by weavers in Ghana. It’s the perfect bag for spring and summer trips to the farmers market…and looks stunning with a bouquet of flowers set inside.

Brass Candle

I have these brass candles all over my house, and all over the studio as well. They’re hand-poured and handmade from recycled metals by women refugees in the U.S. and metalworkers in India.

Woven Bowl

I love storing produce in these woven baskets handmade from natural grasses. Each purchase empowers artisans at WomenCraft in Tanzania

Market Baskets

These bags are my favorite and I use them every single day. They’re great for shopping, beach trips, picnics, and so much more. Remember when I made this cute mother’s day gift basket with my market bag? Each bag is hand-woven with locally sourced grasses by weavers from around the world.

Reusable Shopping Bag – Grocery List

The Purposefull tote is spells out 4 of my favorite ingredients. This handmade bag is water-resistant and sewn with sustainable jute fabric by artisan women in Bangladesh.

Natural Dye Pillow

These pillow are all over my house, and the studio too. We love them! Each pillow is hand-woven on bamboo looms and can be mixed and matched. They’re handmade with natural dyes by artisans around the world.

2. A Spring Brunch with Friends.

I think my very favorite thing to create is an incredible brunch, especially in the springtime. Something about spring always screams brunch to me! When I was in LA a few weeks ago, I meet up with two LA based friends, Donal Skehan and Claire Thomas to cook up an amazing brunch! We met up at Claire’s incredible home (where she has the cutest vintage oven I’ve ever seen) and shared the most delicious brunch, where Donal showed me how to make his scrambled eggs with goat cheese and arugula.

And guys…these soft scrambled eggs with goat cheese and arugula? They’re stuffed into buttery, flaky croissants, and they are truly delicious. The simple addition of arugula and goat cheese makes these eggs feel extra fancy, but still simple enough for a week day.

Get the full recipe for Donal’s Scrambled Eggs with Goat Cheese and Arugula, and watch us make the recipe below!

PS. Keep an eye out for a new video next week too! I’ll be making biscuits with Claire!

3. Springtime Beauty Favorites on my Wish List…

4. Questions of The Week:

q: What’s your favorite healthy way to sweeten a recipe?
a: Dates, honey, real maple syrup…oh, and bananas. And yes, I know these still have sugar, but these are what I love to use when attempting to make healthy-ish desserts!

q: Most overwhelming thing you experienced while designing/building the barn?
a: Truly every single detail! Building and designing a space from the ground up is seriously intense and takes SO LONG. It’s a full time job. We’re still working to fully complete the space. Which is why we still haven’t shown the entire studio, but promise, very soon! You can see a peek inside the studio here.

q: Have you ever started a fire cooking?
a: Yuppppp. But nothing big thankfully.

  1. The videos you have on your blog display the title of the video for like 1/10 of a second, too short a time to read what it’s about. Can you give it a couple of seconds before proceeding to the video itself? Thanks. LOVE your blog.
