Thanks for joining me for another Nine Favorite Things post.

Nine Favorite Things | halfbakedharvest.com @hbharvest

This time of year always leaves me craving colorful flowers. It’s spring, and in most places the flowers have finally started to bloom, the grass is growing, and the temperatures are slowly starting to rise (I heard it was 80 degrees in NYC on Friday!), but over here, it’s still pretty cold and snowy. It’s just what the weather does here this time of year, and to be honest, it will not really warm up to until June. Sure we’ll have warm days here and there, but we will also have snow here and there.

Anyway, point is, I’m craving flowers and have been buying as many as I can justify as “work” expenses (meaning I use them in recipes and for photoshoots). I have found that having colorful spring flowers around really helps to uplift my mood. They’re kind of like my own personal mood lifter. Well, flowers and hot lemon water!

Question: what’s your best mood lifting trick? I’m always looking for ways to stay energized and positive!

In other news, I’ve been hard at work on some new HBH Newsletter content (exclusive email menus/grocery lists are coming soon). Are you guys signed up? If not, be sure to sign up now because the newsletters are so fun! In addition to a daily email with new recipes, we also put out a weekly recap with all the recipes from the week on Saturday mornings. It’s a great way to see all the previous week’s post at once, in case you missed anything. We also have a couple emails that go out with exclusive recipes, giveaways, tips, and tricks! If you haven’t yet signed up, you can do so here!

Coming up this week, I’ll be sharing a fun new meatball recipe, something from one of my favorite cookbooks, A Table in Venice, kicking off the start of my Cinco de Mayo recipes with some fresh tacos, and sharing a new favorite Instant Pot recipe that’s super quick, easy, and delicious. Already excited for the new week ahead!

Until then, I hope you enjoy this week’s favorites. I’m talking all about my spring style must haves, travel destinations, Pinterest obsession, and of course sharing my menu plan for the week ahead. Lot’s of fun things!

1. Inspiring me This Week.

Lauryn Evarts of The Skinny Confidential. If you guys do not know who Lauryn is and you haven’t read The Skinny Confidential, you need to pause and go spend a couple of hours learning all about her. She is a BOSS. And I mean that literally. Lauryn has built an incredibly successful brand out of The Skinny Confidential from the ground up, that includes her blog, book, and podcast. Her unapologetic realness is what inspires me so much. She holds nothing back and is 120% herself. Her business sense is like no other. She is consistently giving out not only the best business tips, tricks, and advice, but the girl knows a thing or two about beauty (hello to those double tinted eyebrows), fashion, fitness, and all things lifestyle.

Along with the blog, Lauryn and her husband Michael are the hosts of The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast. This podcast is the sole reason I got into listening to podcasts, and it’s my favorite. Both Lauryn and Michael are a wealth of knowledge. They heave some of the best guests, from entrepreneurs to celebrities, and they talk business, life, beauty, and everything and anything in between. Again, they hold nothing back and absolutely nothing is off-limits. If you do one thing today, it should be to binge listen their podcast. It’s the best and you learn so much. Trust me.

PS. who are some people who inspire you guys?

2. My Favorite Pinterest Home and Style Pins this Week.

If you guys didn’t already know, I am Pinterest obsessed. I spend my nights pinning away and finding countless inspiration from everything from food, to fashion, to beauty, to DIY, to home. My most popular board is my Easy Dinner Board, but my personal favorite boards are my Style Board and my Barn Inspiration Board. Below I am sharing my favorites from both boards.

4. Favorite Places to Travel in the Spring.

My parents are taking Asher to California in a few weeks. They’re flying into LA, then driving up the coast to San Fran and heading east to meet up with my brother Brendan in Lake Tahoe. Along the way they have plans to stop and watch the whale migration, got to Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, head to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and find all the best food. I’m sure it’s going to be an amazing trip. If you guys have suggestions as to where they should stop along the way, please let me know!

Since we all have the travel bug right now, I thought I’d share five U.S destinations to travel to in Spring.

  1. Charleston, South Caroline: For the history, perfect 80 degree temperatures, and gorgeous blooming flowers. OK and the incredible food scene. I went in mid June a few years back for my grandparent’s 50th wedding anniversary (we stayed in aisle of Palms) and loved it! I’m told spring is the best time to go!
  2. Jupiter, Florida/South Florida: The ultimate spring break destination and where I spent a good part of my childhood spring breaks. I LOVE south Florida. If you go to Jupiter, be sure to check out The Dune Dog and The Square Grouper.
  3. Ojai, California: It’s Pixie Tangerine season in Ojai and April is the perfect month to go and experience this stunning southern California destination. There’s hiking, sun bathing, and an incredible farmers markets.
  4. Jackson Hole, Wyoming: For all the people who love skiing, but also love warmer weather. There’s not many places that are as beautiful as Jackson Hole. It’s been some time since I was there, but it’s a stunning place to visit and the cutest little ski town.
  5. Austin, Texas: Temperatures are already gettin hot in Austin, but it’s in full bloom and such a fun city to explore before those scorching summer temperatures set in.

6. The Quote That Stuck with Me…

I can’t tell you guys enough how amazing you all are. You are constantly inspiring me, encouraging me, and motivating me to bring you all the best content I can. A very sweet reader left me this inspiring quote straight from Dr. Seuss himself and it stuck with me all week. It’s a good one!

“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.” Continue to be the best YOU that you can be!

PS. what are your favorite quotes? I’d love to hear them!
