Thanks for joining me for another Nine Favorite Things.

Nine Favorite Things |

Wow, what a beautiful week it has been here, it really has felt like summer and I am enjoying every waking second of it. Yesterday and Friday were especially gorgeous with warm temperatures, the perfect light breeze, and almost no clouds in the sky. Just so pretty and perfect. I tried to sneak away to be outside as much as possible taking a few more trips out to the garden than really necessary. What can I say, is that the time in the sun just makes me happy, it energizes me.

Not going to chat your ear off about the weather again, but just had to start out by staying it’s been so nice and I love it. The downside is that with the sunshine and no rain, our fire danger skyrockets. The wildfires in the area have already started burning. We had water helicopters flying low all morning on Friday. I’m so incredibly thankful for those helicopters and our firefighters. It is amazing all that they accomplish. But having them fly through the air is always a little nerve-racking. It’s never a good sign when the helicopters are running non-stop back and forth from Lake Dillion to the fire. But again, we couldn’t get through a summer without them. So a big shout out to all the firefighters in the world.

In other news, I discovered we have a butterfly nest in the tree outside the studio and I am so excited. From what I read online, I think they’ll be hatching and going through a metamorphosis, changing from a caterpillar to a butterfly, over the next few days. Not sure if I can really be able to watch this happen or not. But I sure will be checking back on them daily to try to catch any of the transformations take place. I love butterflies, I always have, something about them is so calming and pretty. This is probably why I love the butterfly jewelry trend so much.

In other news, I’m starting to think about packing for Cabo and wanting to bring really low-key easy outfits. So looking at flowy summer dress, jean shorts, and trying to find that perfect bathing suit…never an easy task. I will say that I am loving the look of a one-piece with a deep back cut. So pretty.

And aside from that, nothing too new to share. Oh, my brother Red stopped by for a very quick visit. It’s always so nice to see him. And then the rest of the family is back in Cleveland. They’re taking time to visit with family they haven’t seen in a while and soak up some of those midwest summers we all love. It’s also the first time my grandpa has gotten to meet Oslo, so all in all an exciting trip for them.

Coming up this week, I’m really celebrating summer with quintessential summer recipes. Quick and light dinners, berry pies, and a special dessert come Friday. Question for you all…I’m starting to think about 4th of July recipes, what is everyone looking for this year? Drinks for sipping? Appetizers? Easy sides? Dinners for the grill? Desserts? Please let me know!!

1. Things I’m Loving, Wanting, And Excited To Try…

watching…A Life on Our Planet. a recommendation from my brother Brendan that is so good. have you watched it?

loving…the flowers I picked from the yard (photos above and below). we all know I love flowers (and candles) more than anything. So when the grocery store had slim pickings this week, I decided to take a stroll through the fields and clip a few branches. they ended up being so pretty and I love them.

loving…the butterfly necklace The Sis Kiss sent. it is the only piece of fine jewelry I own and I am obsessed. if you’re not familiar with The Sis Kiss, they are a Cleveland-based jewelry company that ships worldwide. they have some really cute, fun, and super affordable pieces. their custom jewelry makes a great gift too. they were really nice and are offering all HBH readers 15% off using the code HBH15 at checkout.

reading…The Best Self-Tanning Products To Buy This Summer. I need help in the tanning department. so taking notes and picking up a few of the products.

also reading…10 Exfoliating Tools That Work. ordering somebody exfoliating products too because the #1 rule for a good self-tan is to remove any dead skin before application. going to try out this washcloth and then ordering using my Necassaire body exfoliator.

listening to…Rachel Parcell on Life with Marianna. many of you probably already follow Rachel or have bought a Rachel Parcell dress on Nordstrom. She is what they call an “og blogger”. But while I have always followed, I never knew everything that she’s accomplished in such a short time. I loved hearing her business story and how she started her company from the ground up. inspiring no matter what your career path is.

reading…Simone Biles claims seventh U.S. gymnastics championship. so impressive.

ordered…these glass food storage containers with bamboo lids. perfect for packing up summer berries on picnics or saving leftovers. I love that the top also doubles as a cutting board.

ordered…the Diptyque lavender candle. I have been wanting this for a while and finally ordered it the other day. I’ll update you next week on how it is. I love lavender, so I’m excited to try it.

drinking…a nutty chi chi. a fun twist on a pina colada that uses vodka. my brother Brendan is very into it. should I share the recipe?

4. Favorite questions of the week.

q: when did you realize you were a chef? you’re amazing. we love you from Brazil!
a: high from Brazil!! so cool 🙂 I’d never call myself a chef. it’s too fancy. I’m just a girl who loves to cook and share with others

q: do you use any app or program to edit your photos?
a: for IG stories I love to use the Tezza App. they have really great features and you can really play around with your photos and videos, so it’s fun to get creative. For food photos…taken with my real camera…I always edit those in Lightroom.

q: if you could be 2 animals what would they be?
a: I had to think about this. I love horses, so I think one would be a horse. and then the second would be a monkey because I could really use some of their “laid back” qualities and they live in tropical places 🌴

q: where do you buy your vases?
a: from all over really, but I get a lot from Zara home, Terrain, and also Pottery Barn too. Crate and Barrel and Anthropologie have nice ones as well. And of course, Good Livin’ finds me all my favorites.

q: when you are cooking do you normally listen to music?
a: I have been listening to music lately! either music or a podcast, but I’ve been having a harder time with podcasts because they require more attention (but I loveee podcasts).

q: Any baked cookies with lavender?
a: lavender lemon sugar cookies…a summer favorite.

q: what is your favorite summer candle?
a: the the Boy Smells Les candle is great. the peach blossom and jasmine together are soo summery. this is their magnum size, but it also comes in a smaller jar too. I have this burning right now and it’s summer in a candle with jasmine, magnolia, orange blossom, and lily.

Last one because I just got this Diptyque Red Tubéreuse candle. Though I have not burned it yet, it smells incredible. Update, it is one of my favorite candles now!

q: how do you keep corn tortillas from ripping?
a: you’ve got to warm them or they’ll ripe. I highly recommend roasting them on a gas burner if you have one.

q: when does summer come to your area?
a: June, but it really gets nice in July and August…then sometime around the 3rd week of August it’s suddenly fall

q: have you ever had any kitchen fires?
a: shockingly none aside from me occasionally setting fire to a kitchen towel.

q: what has been the highlight of your career so far?
a: I have done so much and feel so lucky to have the opportunities I have. everything from getting to work with incredible brands like The Little Market, to meeting such talented people like Kristen Kilpatrick (who snapped this photo), to traveling, GMA appearances, NYT and Amazon bestseller lists, and more. but honestly, the highlight has and always will be getting to share what I love with you guys. I say this all the time, but you all feel like family, and it’s so insane we’ve grown so big. I love sharing here and on IG!!!

5. A Note on Favorites Posts and What They’re Meant To Be.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve gotten a handful of comments with some feedback on these Favorites posts and some of the links I share within them. First, these blog posts are meant to be fun and a place where I can share my life outside of cooking. The things I love most…family photos, fashion, and beauty finds. After writing about food all week, these posts are a nice break where I can express my other interests. I think most of you enjoy them. But I’ve had a few comments regarding certain swimsuit styles or sharing a designer bag that’s way overpriced…that I find beautiful (but didn’t buy). These are just the things I love and that I personally find inspiring.

I try really, really hard to share a wide range of product links with high and low price points. I try to provide different content each Sunday, and to be honest, these posts are a lot of work. But because they contain such different content from regular daily posts, for the most part, they’re pretty fun to write.

So while I know many of you come here for the food, these posts aren’t meant to be food-related. Though numbers 2 and 9 are always food links for you guys to check out.

The one thing I will say is that I do have pricy tastes. I rarely buy these things myself, but I do appreciate some really nice pieces. It can be hard to find affordable pieces that are similar, but that’s definitely something I’m working on. I know most of you guys would really appreciate that! The other thing I want to say is that none of the products I talk about within these posts are sponsored. Everything is my own opinion. Yes, brands do send me items to test and try out. Especially lots of beauty products, but I only share the products I LOVE with you guys. And if I can, I always try to get the brand to offer a discount code too. Like The Sis Kiss did in today’s post.

I also hope that if I share something you don’t care for, you just move onto something that you do. With nine sections and endless links to click through, I certainly hope there is something for everyone.

I just wanted to refresh everyone on what these posts are meant to be. I know some readers might be newer. They are really about what is inspiring and exciting me most!

With that, I LOVE LOVE to hear about the things you all would like to see shared within these favorites posts. I will always try to incorporate your requests, so please, remember to share them in the comments!!

And as always thank you guys for reading these every week. They are often the most popular post of the week, so that’s pretty exciting to see!!

  1. Loved the link for the reading list. Add several to my TBR list (shhh don’t tell my hubby). As for the butterfly nest, they are a moth but the caterpillars (actual name are webworms and we battle them here in central PA all autumn long. Personally they give me the willies.) are highly destructive. Notice the branches with no leaves? That’s from them. They will slowly envelop the area and defoliate the upper parts of the tree leaving it open to other pests and fungi infections. Best thing to do is cut the branch from the tree, put it in a trash bag, and put it in the trash can. If you don’t have trash collection then you need to burn the branch (with your red flag warning conditions for your area not the best plan of action I imagine). Whatever you do get it out of the tree and make sure the worms can’t escape and form into moths.

    1. Hey there,
Thanks so much for reading today and sharing your insight on the nest. I hope you have a great weekend! xTieghan

  2. Hi Tieghan,
Just wanted to say that I look forward to the 9 Favorite Things posts. They really do provide a great, fun variety, though I will say that the pictures and links are some of my favorite parts of these posts. I also like seeing some of the design trends or ideas you post since that’s not my forte.
    Hope your week’s going well!

    1. Hey Aimee,
Thanks so much for your kind message and reading each week. I am so glad you enjoy these posts as well:) Have a great Wednesday! xTieghan

  3. What are the flowers (or the bush) in the first photo that you picked from the field? They’re beautiful.

    1. Hey Stacey,
Thanks so much! According to google they are called a roundelay serviceberry. Please let me know if you have any other questions! xTieghan

  4. I love your nine favorite things posts! I mostly follow you on Instagram but always check out your blog for this post. Thank you for sharing them with us!

  5. I just want to say I love reading these Nine Favorite Things posts on Sunday with my coffee! I look forward to all the different things you write about and links you post. And no, I don’t always love everything that’s there but you know, I just skip it. It’s ok not to agree with everything that is said from anyone. People have to remember we can all agree to disagree. That’s what makes us all unique. I love your posts Tieghan! You do a GREAT JOB! I’m always excited for Sunday mornings!

    1. Hey Jen,
Thanks so much for reading and your kind message. I appreciate your positive reminders:) Have a great week! xTieghan

  6. I love your 9 favorite things. Your photos are beautiful today and yes fire season is upon us all in the west. We must all be careful in all outdoor activities.
I make so many of your recipes and always get complements, the praise goes to you.

  8. Tieghan, I just wanted to say I love this weekly series. It’s one one my Sunday rituals: make a pot of tea, check the news, read Nine favourite things. I think the things you share are so fun and personal, and I love getting to hear more about what goes on behind the scenes!

Since you asked, I’d love to request more links to Black-owned businesses, or podcasts, articles, and books written by Black people, Indigenous people, and People of Colour. Another request is that you link to clothing brands with more plus-sized (3X and up) options.

Thanks so much for all your hard work and the incredible content you bring us on the daily!

    1. Hey Lydia,
Thanks so much for your kind message and reaching each morning! I appreciate your feedback and will try to incorporate more variety in these posts. Thanks again for your suggestions! xTieghan

  9. Always, always love you Sunday posts!

I’m ok with varying prices, because, as on pintrest etc I use images of things or styles as ideas. Though, even when something is way pricier than I’d buy, I’d not be offended. Different strokes for different folks. 🙂

I love that picture at the end of No. 6. So incredibly beautiful. Nice to see the snow has gone, for now anyhow. Though, I love your snowy pictures too.

Glad you will get a holiday with your fam, you work so hard, you most definitely deserve it! Xx

    1. Hey Kelly-Jane,
Thanks for reading as always, and your kind message! Yes, so nice that the snow is gone, it is so refreshing to see all the greenery!! Have a great week. xTieghan

  10. Western Tent Caterpillar (Malacosoma californicum) – Troublesome in the northern and western portions of the United States and adjoining Canada. These hairy caterpillars (2 inches long) are yellowish-brown in color and have a row of blue spots on their backs, with orange spots interspersed in between. Adult moths (1-1/2 inches long) are orange-brown in color with two narrow yellow lines on the wings. Willow, poplar, cottonwood, birch, apple, plum, cherry, roses and oak are favorite host plants of this pest.

You should remove them before they hatch!

  11. I save these posts to read Monday morning to start my week off with something positive I look forward too. Your posts and photos are so beautiful and I love checking out the links and things that interest you. I love that you have a range of beautiful things and if someone is put off by something that is pricey that is so not your responsibility to accommodate them. Thank YOU for sharing so much of your cooking and life with us!

    1. Hey Kimberly,
Thanks so much for your kind message and reading each Monday! I am so glad you enjoy these posts as much as I do:) Have a great Tuesday! xTieghan

  12. They look like gypsy moths. They won’t necessarily kill the tree but will be gross and destructive. We usually cut the branch off and burn the branch and nest.

  13. Thank you for the reminder that it is okay to scroll past the items that don’t pique our interests. I appreciate the posts and look forward to them each week. I enjoy nearly all of the information and links you provide, and I’ll just remember that the rest of them are for someone else. Thanks for all of the work you put in to this very well run blog!

  14. This is random, but do you compost? Maybe you just feed scraps to the goats and chickens? Would love some tips on composting if you have any. We joined our local CSA and I feel bad trashing the scraps! Thanks!

    1. Hey Ruby,
Yes, we sure do! The goats typically get all of the scraps. We just keep a big bucket in the kitchen that I use daily. I hope this helps! xTieghan

  15. As soon as I saw the “butterfly” nest I thought oh no! That will definitely kill your tree, and spread to all the trees around it. You should remove and burn it.

  16. T~Those are not butterflies! Plz get those out of your tree. That is a tent moth nest. They will defoliate the beautiful aspen tree. The leaves will grow back but stresses the tree and some of the branches will never grow leaves again. These insects are so damaging to our aspens in our area–actually they attack any deciduous tree. We always cut the nests out and put in bags to dispose. Good luck.

  17. I love love love your 9 Favorite Things posts and I look forward to reading them every week, so I am hopeful you can take this feedback through the lens that I am a cheerful and loyal consumer of your content :). Sharing pricy items is perhaps not the problem. It’s the use of the word “affordable.” You use it quite often and while it’s not your responsibility to be fiscally relatable to everyone, but I can see that, for instance, when you add commentary to a linked bikini that costs $80 and call it affordable, well that can make some people feel less than because frankly, that’s still quite spendy for most. When people feel less than, they get defensive and turn into keyboard cowboys who write DMs. Link and share what you like, but keep in mind that “affordable” is truly subjective and could easily be swapped for “less expensive.”

  18. Tiegen, you are the most inspiring person. I have tried numerous recipes and my husband and I enjoy each and every one of them. I look forward every day what my half baked harvest inbox brings that I can try. I am in love with the spice profile for every recipe and wouldn’t change a thing. You are such an inspiration staying on course of preparing the best, flavorful meals each day. Today i have a friend coming that I have known for over 40 years and am making your puff pastry with sliced peaches. Both my husband and I love seafood and was hoping you would add some new recipes to incorporate this protein. Every Sunday morning we have our Latte sitting in our sunroom and perusing your post. Love that you incorporate beauty and design. Thank you Petra

    1. Hey Petra,
Thank you so much for your kind message! I am so glad you have been enjoying the recipes and truly appreciate you making them. Thanks again! xTieghan

  19. My favorite part of Sunday’s are knowing I get to wake up and read your blog posts. I love learning about everything you post, some items may not be my exact style or in my price point, but to me that doesn’t matter, I just enjoy learning what you like as it gets me a new perspective of what’s popular, also, you highlight a lot of different types of businesses, and that’s what I think is important. Last week, you shared a bag that I never would have found on my own and because of your great taste it opened my eyes to something new. Different eyes and insights are what makes the world go round and makes life enjoyable. Keep doing you, shine on, and so thankful that you’re open to sharing what you love. Thank you and keep your 9 favorite things coming, I love it!!!

Also, I love your positive and peaceful view. As a female in my mid-30’s life is so hectic. However, when reading your posts, it’s a gentile reminder for me to stop and smell the roses. Enjoy life, there’s so much good that the world offers. It’s up to us to find it and appreciate it. Thank you.

    1. Hey Amy,
Thanks so much for reading each Sunday and your kind message! I am so glad you enjoy spending time reading each post and looking through the links. Have a wonderful week:) xTieghan

  20. I love reading your Nine Favorite Things and checking out the links. No I can’t buy most of it, especially being a Canadian and old enough to be your grandma, but I enjoy seeing what’s out there. Keep doing what you’re doing you’ll never please everyone and they don’t have to read your post. Love your recipes and I’m going to make the Serrano Pineapple Margarita for my daughter and Granddaughter this week, it sounds delicious.

    1. Hey there,
Thanks so much for reading along and your kind message! I hope you love the margarita! Cheers:) xTieghan

  21. I love these posts and especially the beautiful pics of CO today! Thank you for the heart and soul in them.

  22. I love these posts, so you keep doing you 🙂 That gardens goddess pizza is one of my favorite dinners, & I actually bought peaches & blackberries today so will be making that crisp!

Question – do you have a referral code for Moonjuice? I am so interested in trying but they’re a bit pricy. Thank you!

  23. Keep doing what you’re doing. You are a lovely person. I always look forward to your new posts!

  24. I wait to make my grocery list until I see this post each Sunday. I love them and thank you for doing them.

  25. Tieghan

LOVE your posts and all of those GREAT pictures, that make us wonder what to try next…

Please tell us the name of the plant in the very first picture. It’s beautiful! Thank you.

Keep cookin’. You’re an INSPIRATION !

    1. Hey Monte,
I am so glad you enjoy these posts, thanks for reading each Sunday! From what I can find on Google they are called a roundelay serviceberry. Have a great week! xTieghan

  26. Instead of the Amazon mesh washcloth, I highly recommend the Luv Scrub! A small, Black woman-owned business and still not a bad price ☺️

  27. Tieghan..those are tent worms in your tree. If you can reach the branch, cut it off right below where their tent is. As you can see they have already eaten some leaves. The worms will reproduce and next year you will see a few more nests in other trees. My dad used to burn the nest…😳

  28. I look forward to your post every Sunday. Some people are never happy and complain on and on. If you can afford it so what. It is your money!

  29. Love every bit of 9 favorite things!! I look forward to it every week. Please keep the inspiration going!

  30. I love your posts! I find it so interesting that some readers think it is ok to complain or comment on your links and suggestions. You provide your recipes and all the other information for FREE and if they are finding the links are too “out of reach,” then they need to just keep scrolling or unsubscribe, or whatever. Your Sunday newsletter is awesome and you should just “keep on, keeping on.”

  31. Don’t be a hater, if you can’t afford what is pictured, move on. There is so much content in these “Nine Favorite Things” posts as Tieghan has thoughtfully pointed out, there is something for everyone!

  32. Really enjoy your Nine Favorite Things posts every Sunday! Hate to hear that there are negative people trying to bring down the bright and joyful spaces on the internet, like yours. The rest of us love your food posts and “other” 🙂 thanks for all you do!

  33. As always – another wonderful favorite things post. I have about 30 tabs open right now because of it. Your taste is exquisite. Thanks for sharing!

  34. I love this post and look forward to it every week! It’s my favorite thing to read on Sunday mornings, and I have bookmarked so many of the links you include to go back to for ideas and inspiration. I love to cook and love your recipes, but I also love travel, architecture, fresh flowers, and candles too! I think a lot of your readers do! Keep up the great work and keep being you. We’re here for it.

    1. Hey Pam,
Thanks so much for reading along each week, I am so glad you enjoy these posts! Have a wonderful week:) xTieghan

  35. Love your newsletter! My favorite Sunday morning tradition. Don’t change a thing. Be you! You’re authentic which is why you have such a large following.

  36. Of course, I LOVE your recipes. I also love your photos and your Favorite Links. Thank you for sharing these!

  37. My Sunday morning would not be the same without my cup of coffee and 9 Favorite Things! I’m already worried about what’s going to happen when you’re gone on vacation 😂 All kidding aside, there are always going to be people out there complaining about things and you just have to take their comments with a grain of salt! Your posts are perfect the way they are and I love reading your favorite things and looking at all the links and dreaming about cool places and things that I maybe can’t afford but are funny to look at anyway! I know you spend a lot of time writing these posts and I would venture to bet that the vast majority of your readers look forward to reading them and love your content!!!

    1. Hey Kimberly,
Thanks so much for reading each Sunday and your thoughtful message. Lol thanks for your positive thoughts:) I hope you have the best week! xTieghan

  38. I love my Sunday routine which includes a huge Starbucks green tea and reading Nine Favorite Things. Please don’t change anything and keep sharing all these interesting things that you love. Sure everything isn’t for me or something I might spend my money on but it’s fun and always exciting to see new things. I think you have a great variety and though I don’t always have time to read it all on Sundays I many times go back to read your recommendations when I have a spare moment. You make Sundays fun 😊

    1. Hey Sherry,
I just love this Sunday routine, sounds so relaxing! Thanks for reading along. Have a great week:) xTieghan

  39. Don’t go changing a thing!! I look forward every Sunday to your post! I’ve been cooking your recipes for a few years and feel like I know you and your family! 😂
Thanks for letting us be a part of your life!

    1. Thanks so much for your positive message and reading each Sunday Jen! Have a great week:) xTieghan

  40. Lovely Sunday read as always. Thanks for the effort you put into this; it’s always a breath of fresh air. You live in a beautiful place, I suppose the short summer is the price we pay (if you can call it that) for living in such bucolic places (I’m in Red Lodge, MT). The negative comments are just weird, it’s never wrong to look at pretty things we can’t afford, how do we ever achieve if we are afraid to dream. Thanks for another week of inspiration.

    1. Hey Nina,
Thanks so much for reading each Sunday! Lol so very true about the summer. I hope you have a great week:) xTieghan

  41. Greetings from Uruguay! Love the Nine Favorite Things posts. Your impeccable aesthetics are inspirational, and probably the reason your pictures are beautiful and also why you like pricey things. Appreciating beautiful things does not necessarily mean buying them, as is the case of architecture and fine art. Looking at beautiful things and soaking up beauty is an enjoyable experience in itself. Thank you for your hard work and for sharing! Maria

    1. Hey Maria,
Thank you so much for reading and your thoughtful message. I am so glad you have been enjoying these posts:) Have a great week! xTieghan

  42. I just had to comment on #5!! I SO look forward to your Sunday 9 Favorite Things posts. They are fun, beautiful, inspiring—everyone can take something from them. How absolutely heartbreaking and frustrating that people would actually be so short sighted to write to you and complain about the products and/or prices of items that you write about simply because you find them interesting, inspirational, pretty, etc. And so what if you do buy something “expensive??” Good for you! No one should be judging you. These trolls need to just move on to the next item or go to a different website. Buh BYE! Love you girl, keep up the great work!

    1. Hey Katherine,
LOL I love this message! Thank you so much for your positive feedback and kind message:) Made my morning! xTieghan

  43. T- thank you so much for your always on point, to the point, inclusive, dreamy, practical, joyful and right on posts! You hit all the right notes. One question? Could you resend the spices you can’t do without? I asked once on Instagram but the answer was too fast for me to absorb… Smokey paprika, s&p, cumin-?! We love your food and yes pls share the cocktail! If you have a skinny marg pls share that too! Cheers!

  44. Hi Tieghan,

I LOVE these posts. I look forward to them and that’s saying a lot since there is not another post I look forward to that comes to mind. I appreciate all the time and energy you put into these (I used to own a business that I wrote newsletters for and they didn’t come close to the beauty and content of yours) and I truly hope you never water down your inspiration. I look to these for inspiration. Of course I can’t afford all things I see here but that’s not the point of inspiration. I love inspiration since it INSPIRES me to use my own imagination and creativity. So please keep being inspired by the beauty in this world and please, please don’t stop sharing!

    1. Hey Michelle,
Thanks for reading today and sharing your message! I love that you enjoy these posts as much as I do! Have a wonderful week:) xTieghan

  45. Thank you for level-setting expectations regarding favorites. People need to remember that these are YOUR favorites. We’re all here because we admire your taste and perspective. Please don’t be persuaded to adjust posts to accommodate the preferences of others. Authenticity wins and is easy to spot. What inspires you inspires us!

    1. Thanks so much for your kind reminder Jennifer! I hope you have a wonderful week and thanks for reading these posts! xTieghan

  46. Hi Tieghan! I just want to echo what a lot of commenters have already said…this is my favorite post of the week! I am constantly inspired by your various posts on beauty, travel, food, and design. You open my eyes to so many things I would have never otherwise been exposed to. Your beauty posts in particular have really inspired me to value myself and spend money on quality products instead of my usual inexpensive stuff. I have been using the Dr Dennis Gross Spectralite face mask for about 2 weeks and already see improvement in my skin. I bought a sample kit from Dermstore and have loved trying new serums and other skin products. My 42-year-old face is looking better every day, and I really credit you for giving me the courage to invest in myself! I think you are an amazingly creative, warm, and kind soul. You have brought joy into my life with your blog and cookbooks. I am so thankful for all the wonderful content you provide for your readers. And just remember – the negative comments say more about the person giving them than about you. I am SO happy for you and your well-earned success!

    1. Hey Bethany,
Thank you so much for your thoughtful message, I am so glad that you too enjoy these posts:) Awe, so great to hear you have been enjoying the face mask, that is so awesome! I hope you have the best week! xTieghan

  47. As always, a wonderful Sunday morning post. You are such a talented photographer as well as a amazing cook/baker/recipe developer/blogger.
Sorry to burst your butterfly bubble but I am guessing that is not a butterfly “nest” but rather something that will eventually produce moth larva. Butterflies do not make nests. They lay individual eggs eggs on the underside of leaves …usually plants the emerging caterpillar will want to eat. Monarchs always lay their eggs on the underside of milkweed…their preferred food. Once the caterpillar emerges, it eats for about 10 day – 2 weeks. When ready, it finds a spot to suspend and morphs into a chrysalis. The magic happens within the chrysalis over another 2 week period after which the butterfly emerges.
Many species of moths spin a web like structure around a large egg mass. The caterpillars morph into a pupa and eventually a moth emerges. The moth cycle can be as long as 90 days.
I am a former kindergarten teacher and the butterfly life cycle was always one of the childrens’ favorites. We sent many Painted Ladies out into the world over the years.

    1. Hey Nancy,
Thanks so much for reading along and your kind message! Also, thanks for the insight on the nest, will definitely have to look into this more. I hope you have a great week! xTieghan

  48. Last night had friends in for dinner. Your lemon chicken with whipped feta was a hit and you pretzel based whipped ricotta with fresh strawberries was amazing. Thank you. You inspire my adventures in the kitchen and dare me to experiment and discover. So appreciate your recipes.

    1. Hey Diane,
Awesome! So so glad to hear that you all enjoyed the recipe, thanks for making it! xxTieghan

  49. Tieghan, I really appreciate your candidness with your audience. It takes a lot of courage to be so open and honest and it does not go unnoticed. I’ve been following your blog since 2016 and I think you are so talented, lovely, and thoughtful. Keep being so authentically you. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much for your kind message Sam, you really made my morning❤️ Have a wonderful week! xTieghan

  50. I love these posts!! And I love seeing the products you recommended- if anything because they are fun and aspirational! How people have the nerve to email you negative things is beyond me. As others have said, don’t change what you do. You are the success for you are, for who you are!

    1. Hey Saria,
Thanks so much for your kind message, I am so glad you enjoy these posts as much as I do and I appreciate you reading each Sunday. Have a wonderful week! xTieghan

  51. Tieghan I love following along especially for your Sunday favorites! How nice that we get to also be a part of posts that also help you unwind after all you do for us all week with these recipes–I so appreciate it! As far as costs go, I am in my early 30s and my philosophy to shopping has changed over the years. I love quality pieces (as well as good budget finds) and I feel like this is the year I am investing more in my style since the dresses I bought myself at age 22 are just not cutting it anymore! I also love your home finds as that is something I’m investing more in as well. I appreciate all price points but I don’t shy away from looking at your tastes! Thank you for taking the time to put it all together (and I definitely want to make that orzo tomato dish this week!).

    1. Hey Susan,
Thanks so much for your kind message and reading along each Sunday! OMG yes, totally agree with the clothes you buy when you are younger just don’t cut it anymore, investment pieces are definitely a bonus for me! Have the best week:) xTieghan

  52. Hello Tieghan! I love your favorite things posts. Some things I would love to see would be summer entertaining posts (foods to prepare with minimal cooking, etc.) Would also be interested in good hiking gear recommendations (shoes.)

    1. Hey there,
Thanks so much for reaching and sharing this feedback! Love a good Salomon boot for hiking! xTieghan

  53. I look forward to this post every Sunday. I love seeing the variety of topics and links you provide. I’m sorry you’ve had some negative comments… internet opinion warriors are the worst. As a reader, I understand I won’t be interested in everything you share, but someone else might be and I can easily scroll past! It’s crazy how simple it is. I hope other people can figure out how to use their mouse while also remembering “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all.” Please keep sharing your genuine interests, you’ve provided a lot of good ideas from these posts, whether it’s fashion, helpful tips or home decor.

    1. Hey Sarah,
Happy Monday! Thanks a lot for reading these posts and your kind message! I hope you have a great week:) xTieghan

  54. Do not ever change yourself to make others happy. These negative people making judgemental comments are doing so by way of making themselves feel better as they are not happy in themselves. Plus, you can never eliminate that people are just plain old jealous of your success. You are young, attractive with a warm personality. Unfortunately that comes with them responding to the threat with attempts at pulling you down with them. Women on women bullying is awful and it follows through into adulthood. It is gross but a very real

If you want to buy yourself 200 dollars worth of face oils and you can afford it, then why not buy it. You work hard to earn your money and you can spend it any way you wish. I like looking at the luxe versions of things and then finding a more affordable.

    Don’t stop being you.

As Taylor Swift says “shake it off”.

    1. Hey Lisa,
Thank you so much for reading today and sharing your feedback, lol love the “shake it off”, you’re so right!! Have the best week:) xTieghan

I absolutely love these posts – and really look forward to them every Sunday morning! I think you have a wonderful mix of things which is what I enjoy! The photos are always amazing and the links are interesting. I am afraid your butterfly nest might be bagworms however – just need to spray for that. Have a great week!

I love the vast array of products, clothes, recipes and tips in all price ranges that I would never know about and even if I can’t splurge on them, I love to be in the know about something cool, new or beautiful. I’ve bought several things…….LOVE the glasses from William-Sonoma. I feel like a kindred spirit to you even if though I could be your mother. 58. Hi from West Virginia,

My daughter-in-law from Frisco told me about you and I’m so glad; I enjoy your recipes and posts.
Just wanted to comment on your caterpillars; they won’t kill your tree and 60 different birds use them as food for their young.

Looking forward to more of your posts.

    1. Hey Pamela,
Thanks so much for reading and your kind message! Also, thanks for this insight about the caterpillars. I hope you have a great week! xTieghan

  59. Amir Argan Oil (Touch of Tan 18oz & Touch of Bronze 7oz) – This self tanner on Amazon is by far a life changer for me. I am pale and have tried every tanner on the market, cheap and expensive. I loved Avon glow but they stopped making it. This one is actually better. It is streakproof, very easy to apply and smells great. Seriously no bad smell. I just put in on like lotion at night after my shower, I use my hand, no glove, and the next morning my skin is golden and sun kissed. And you can use on your face too. It is very inexpensive and the bottle is generous in size. Try it, you won’t be dissappointed.

    1. Hey Susan,
Thanks so much for reading and sharing this self tanner recommendation, will definitely have to give it a try! Have a wonderful week! xTieghan

  60. those may be web worms or tent worms in the trees. in other news…as always, your food is spectacular and don’t let the debbie downers of the world invade your thoughts.

  61. I bought the Zara Home sunflower duvet and pillowcases. I love them. Soft and beautiful to sleep on. I’ll be ordering more of their bedding. I’ll need a winter set. Thanks for the post. Also, made the vegan fudge pops. Can’t wait to try them today.

    1. Hey Deborah,
That is so great you have been enjoying the Zara bed set, I just love their home stuff! Thanks for trying the fudge pops and have a great week! xTieghan

  62. Hi Tieghan! I enjoy reading your Nine Favorite Things post every Sunday morning! It is the first thing I read while having coffee. I really hate that you have been receiving negative comments about these posts. Please don’t change a thing and keep them coming! Also, you should definitely visit Charleston SC. It really is one of the most beautiful cities in the South!

    1. Hey Laura,
Thanks so much for your kind message and reading along each Sunday morning! I am so glad you have been enjoying the posts and appreciate you taking the time out of your day to let me know. Have the best week! xTieghan

  64. I love these posts, I look forward to reading them every Sunday with my coffee in bed! Please don’t change anything about them, the wide variety or products and topics is so entertaining and interesting.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind message Tayler! I am so glad you enjoy these posts:) Have the best week! xTieghan

  65. I look forward to your nine favorite things posts every week (and have been for a looooong time)! I love that you post your favorite things, including the splurge items. It’s fun! Who doesn’t like window shopping on the internet? If your readers want alternatives, there are other bloggers who do a lot of features on budget fashion. Please never change this dream/wishlist/musing post!!

    1. Hey Emily,
Thanks so much for reading along and your kind message. I am so glad you enjoy the Sunday posts as much as I do! I hope you have the best week! xTieghan

  66. I love these posts and look forward to reading them every Sunday morning! How about a few finds now and then that are appropriate for women in their 50s. Maybe things your mom loves. My daughter who is 28 got me your cookbook and we love it! But I notice most of the clothing finds are for your age and hers.

Thanks! Keep up the great work! I live on Cape Cod in MA and my 24 year old son just moved back to the East coast after 3 years in Boulder! Such a beautiful area and state. So different from here.

    1. Hey Adrianne,
Thanks so much for reading along this and every Sunday! I can try to add clothing for a variety of ages. Have the best week! xTieghan

  67. Another great and inspiring blog post. I do love reading this with a coffee on a Sunday and I have to say that if you ever feel that you need a break from HBH, then you’d be a great photographer. You may have already done it in a previous post but do you have any hints or tips for getting good outdoor photos? I also wanted to ask what is the name of the flowers that you picked this week?
My favourite nature insect is the bee. When choosing flowers for the garden I always ensure that bees are attracted to them, as bees are important for us. I am making a few sugar bees to accompany the sugar flowers that I am making for my birthday cake in the next few weeks.
A couple of my favourite summer fruits are apricots and cherries. I would love to see a couple of either breakfast, dessert or baking recipes with these fruits.
I have a couple of linen dresses for the summer which I usually wear for work, however as restrictions lift and I start venturing out to catch up with friends again, I am looking for a couple of pretty/floaty/light summer dresses to wear, if that makes sense.
Have a great week and hope that you find all you need for your vacation 🙂

    1. Hey Colleen,
Thanks so much for your thoughtful message and reading along each Sunday! Outdoor photos are some of the easiest to take in my opinion because of all of the natural light. Here are some other tips: Photograph every day, because practice makes perfect, shoot a lot of photos and at different angles too, move around and find the light/angle that you like best, remember that a perfect photo is soooo boring and stale:) A lot of the flowers I pick are wild flowers, the ones at the top of this page are called a roundelay serviceberry! Have a great week. xTieghan
