Vanilla Wreath Cookies.

These Vanilla Wreath Cookies are the simplest holiday cookie. Lightly sweetened buttery shortbread hinted with warming winter spices and finished generously with a sweet vanilla glaze. Decorate simply with sugared rosemary and your favorite holiday candies for a festive cookie “wreath”. So easy to make, so pretty, and are so especially delicious. Surely the coziest winter cookies to bake up any time this month…or to include in your holiday cookie boxes. I love December days…especially when they include holiday cookies. It’s truly the sweetest time of the year. And I'm here to help you all bake up only the best holiday desserts. When I asked you all what recipes you wanted for December, I’d say eighty-five percent of the responses said cookies. Everyone wants cookies now, and many of them! • Caramelized Mushroom and Kale Pizza. Monday night is better with pizza. Truth. This is my favorite when the weather is cold. It's simple, but GOOD. Fresh herbs, balsamic mushrooms, kale, and 2 cheeses (because more cheese is always better). Every last bite is delicious. And there is kale...so it's almost like eating a salad. All about that balance. Recipe on HBH - linked in profile.  #f52grams #buzzfeast #imsomartha
  • 30 Minute Coq au Vin Chicken Meatballs. One of best recipes make for these cold December nights. It feels fancy…and cozy, but is ready in less than an hour and is the easiest to put together. The coq au vin sauce is KEY. It’s made with whole lot of red wine and it is loved by everyone…which is why I am making this for the fam over the holidays. Just one thing? Don’t skip the browned butter mashed potatoes. Everything is better with a side of creamy mashers. ENJOY. …
…

1 1/4 pounds ground chicken or turkey
1 egg
1/3 cup Panko bread crumbs
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
kosher salt and black pepper
2-3 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped
1 yellow onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced or grated
4 carrots, chopped
2 cups cremini mushrooms, sliced
2 tbs tomato paste
1 1/2 cups dry red wine
1 cup low sodium chicken broth
2 bay leaves
4 thyme sprigs

Add the chicken, egg, bread crumbs, parmesan, and a pinch each of salt and pepper to a bowl. Roll into tablespoon-size balls and place on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake at 425 for 15 minutes.

Cook the bacon in a large skillet until crisp. Remove the bacon and reserve. If there's excess bacon grease, drain off all but 1 tbs. Add the onion and cook for 5 minutes, until softened. Stir in the garlic, carrots, and mushrooms. Cook another 5 minutes. Add the tomato paste.

Add the wine, chicken broth, bay leaves, and thyme. Season with salt and pepper. Bring the sauce to a boil, cook 10 minutes or until the sauce thickens slightly. Stir in the meatballs, cover and cook 5 minutes, until the meatballs are coated in the sauce. Remove the bay leaves and thyme. Stir in a handful of parsley and the bacon.

Eat the meatballs and sauce over mashed potatoes.

  • Hot and Spicy Potstickers. Addictingly good with gingery vegetable filling, sesame crusted wrappers...and garlicky sesame chile oil too because I love a good sauce. One of my favorites from the new cookbook (linked to the book in my profile) what are you guys making today? f52grams #hbhsupersimple
  • The North Pole 🎄 sweet and a little bit chocolatey with just a hint of ginger. Think gingerbread meets chocolate white Russian (yup...there is Kahlúa). Just add a shot of vodka. A true oldie but goodies recipe, this is always the most popular this time of year because it's basically Christmas in a cocktail. It's over the top and it's GOOD.
