I made us the EASIEST dessert ever.

5 Ingredient (MAGIC) Matzo Chocolate Bars | halfbakedharvest.com @hbharvest

Like it may just be one of my easiest sweet recipes on the site to date. I know, I know, amazing, right? I pretty much never show you guys anything with JUST FIVE ingredients. And it really is just five simple, very basic, everyday ingredients.

Really, did you know I could do that? Cause I can!!

So let’s break these 5 Ingredient (MAGIC) Matzo Chocolate Bars down into layers.

Matzo!!

Super fun for Easter, but you can also use saltines, pretzels, graham crackers and/or basically whatever you’ve got that you think would be good.

Mixed Nuts.

Salty, crunchy and delicious.

Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips!!

Enough said. Chocolate chips will always win. Always.

Shredded Coconut.

I mean, duh. Why the heck would there not be coconut? It’s my favorite.

Sweetened Condensed Milk.

Quickly becoming a go-to for me. Love this stuff.

Feeling all Eastery and Crazy? Milk Chocolate Eggs!!

Optional…but not really.

Basically, you add everything to a Pyrex pan, layer, bake, cut, EAT. Simple as that.

And ok, I guess if you count those milk chocolate eggs these bars have six ingredients, but you really don’t HAVE to add them. I just did because I am sucker for those Eastery looking eggs.

Happens every year. Like clockwork.

Also, did I mention that you only have to dirty ONE dish. Just ONE. You don’t even need a knife or even a can opener for that matter. I mean, to me this is all very, very good news. I love to bake, but sometimes? Sometimes, I really just want to throw something in the oven and not have a million and one dishes to clean, counters full of flour, sugar and eggs, and floors that look even worse than my counters!

YIKES.

It makes me tired just thinking about it. Can you tell? I am a crazy messy baker/cook. Just ask anyone who walks in my kitchen from the hours of 10am to 6pm. The place looks like a tornado hit it… and then some.

Thankfully I have an amazing dad who will come over after work and help me with my giant mess. He has been crowned the world’s best dish washer. I honestly do not know what I’d do without that guy. Life saver.

Plus, I kind of love just hanging with him. We listen to music, I talk and talk (he just shrugs along) and it actually makes cleaning up something to look forward to. Now, I never thought I would say those words!

Weird.

But anyway, these bars leave zero mess. Told you, these bars are MAGIC.

And don’t be surprised when they magically disappear in a matter of minutes!

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces sheets Matzo use [gluten free Matzo | http://www.amazon.com/Yehuda-Matzo-Squares-Gluten-10-5000-/dp/B004DBVJRA] if needed
  • 2 cups salted mixed nuts (I used peanuts cashews, almonds and pistachios)
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup sweetened or unsweetened shredded coconut your preference
  • 1 ounce can sweetened condensed milk 14
  • milk chocolate Easter Eggs for topping (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9x13 inch pyrex pan with parchment and spray with cooking spray.
  • Place the matzo in an even layer on the bottom of the pyrex pan. Sprinkle over the mixed nuts, chocolate chips and half the coconut. Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk evenly over top. Sprinkle with the remaining coconut. If using, add a few milk chocolate eggs.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the top is just lightly golden brown. Watch closely towards the end of cooking to make sure the coconut does not burn.
  • Remove and allow to cool at least 45 minutes before cutting. Cut into bars and serve at room temperature (my parents likes these best straight from the fridge). Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week at room temp or in the fridge.

  1. Help! What do you mean “one ounce can”. Do you mean 1 14 ounce can? Sounds like an ounce of condensed milk but that can’t be correct.
Also: 2 sheets of Matzoh? 2 ounces of Matzoh?
Sounds great, I’m afraid to mess it up!
    Thank you

    1. Hi there,
You are going to use one 14 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk and 2 sheets of Matzo, you can ignore the ounces. I hope this helps!! xx
