Butter Pecan Cookies…Drizzled with Chocolate.

I had every intention to make non-chocolate butter pecan cookies. I had my butter, pecans, sugar, and flour. There was not a chocolate chip, chocolate bar, or box of cocoa powder within 8 feet of me and my mixer. I had a goal, no chocolate! Just some butter and pecans. The cookies went into the […]

Crockpot Cranberry Chicken.

So yeah, photography? I am pretty sure it is not my thing. I mean I may be able to cook, but I am no photographer! Seriously, what on earth does ISO and aperture mean? I never knew there were so many photography terms! There is so much to learn, it can be overwhelming at times. I am learning though, […]

Popovers.

When I was thirteen I made my very first batch of popovers. I had no fancy pan and no prior experience with baking any kind of bread what so ever! I was a baking virgin with some eggs, a Williams Sonoma recipe, and a hand-held mixer. Oh, and lots of butter. My family had just […]

Sourdough Bread Bowls

We kind of like bread over here. Especially with our soup. Most people do. Crusty, flavorful bread hot out of the oven with a smear of butter or dunked in soup, creamy soup. If you have never attempted to make your own bread then I urge you to start now! Nothing beats fresh homemade bread […]

  • Instant Pot Broccoli Cheddar and Zucchini Soup. It’s cozy, but healthier than the average broccoli cheddar soup, easy, and so delicious. Hands down this one of my favorites and it's so incredibly easy to make with an instant pot OR slow cooker. Trust me, this will become a new fall go-to. Recipe below. Get at it. Perfect Sunday night...but really any chilly night works. PS. it's better than Panera's. It's true. Slow cooker and stove top directions are on HBH (linked in profile). ..
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
3 tablespoons butter
1 small yellow onion, chopped
1 carrot, chopped
2 medium zucchini, chopped
2 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cayenne, or more to taste
kosher salt and pepper
3 cups low sodium veggie or chicken broth
4 cups broccoli florets
2 bay leaves
1 cup whole milk or coconut milk
2-3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheeseSet Instant pot to sauté. Sautè together the butter, olive oil, and onion, carrots, zucchini, thyme, nutmeg, cayenne and a large pinch each of salt and pepper for 5 minutes. Pour in the broth. Add the broccoli and bay leaves. Cook on high pressure for 8 minutes.Use the quick release and release the steam. Remove the bay leaves. Blend the soup until chunky smooth (not totally puréed). Set the Instant pot to sauté. Stir in the milk and cheese, and cook 5 minutes. Ladle the soup into bowls and top with fresh thyme...and more cheddar. Eat and enjoy.

  • Baked (extra crispy) Sweet Potato Parmesan Tater Tots. Because it's Sunday and Sunday requires all the snacks. These are some of the best --> sweet potatoes, parmesan cheese, butter, fresh herbs, plenty of flaky sea salt and black pepper. The secret? Rolling the mashed sweet potatoes in bread crumbs for a crispy on the outside, soft on the inside tater tot. Finish with a drizzle of herb butter. SO GOOD. Perfect fall appetizer, side dish, game-day snack, it all works. Shared the recipe on HBH this week - linked in profile. #eeeeeats #f52grams #sweetpotatoes #fallfood
  • Fig Dark and Stormy. A touch sweet, citrusy, and warming. Basically the perfect September cocktail with a good amount of rum (bourbon would be SO good too) and topped with ginger beer. Recipe on HBH today - linked in profile. #f52grams #buzzfeast #autumnrecipes #fall #CLkitchen
  • Spiced Pecan Apple Cider Doughnut Cake. Kind of tastes like an old school apple cider doughnut…but in cake form. It's layered with a buttery, cinnamony apple pecan streusel. And real true secret? A ripple of sweet maple throughout the center of the cake. It's beyond good and best enjoyed while still warm, with a steaming mug of coffee…or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Sooo, the perfect thing to bake this weekend. Recipe on HBH - linked in profile. #f52grams #buzzfeast #autumnrecipes #fall #CLkitchen
