This Ginger Apple Moscow Mule is a delicious autumn twist on the classic Moscow Mule. Vodka mixed with fresh lime juice, apple cider, sweet apple butter, fresh ginger, and topped off with ginger beer. For just a touch of sweetness and a little bit of bubbly! It’s both spicy and warming, perfect for cozy autumn nights and upcoming holidays too.

Happy Saturday! Hope you guys are having a great weekend so far. Crazy we are only one week away from Halloween!! Today’s drink isn’t the spookiest, but I’ve been too excited to share this Mule with you guys. It’s the perfect fall cocktail.

If you need a good spooky drink, here are all my favorites, all in one place. Take your pick!

But for those of you looking for something with a gingery, apple kick, this is your drink. It’s easy, refreshing, spicy, and warming all at the same time – and it’s delicious.

Here’s the story.

I had plans to share another Halloween cocktail today, but this Mule just excited me way too much. It was one of those last-minute, eleventh-hour decisions that often end up happening. And I couldn’t be happier I switched gears.

I just kind of felt like we might need this spicy-sweet Mule this weekend. And potentially every other weekend to follow from now through Thanksgiving. This is such a perfect fall cocktail. To quote my older brother, Brendan, “wow, this is actually really good. Delicious, I’m very into this”. Granted Bren will happily drink any cocktail you put in front of him. But he’s always an honest critic, and I love him even more for it. He’ll tell me the good, the bad, and the ugly. The same goes for my sister-in-law, Lynds. The two of them are currently in town for a couple of days and I love having them here.

They always tell it like it is. And the verdict on this Mule was good…very, very, GOOD.

Here are the details.

Grab some vodka, limes, apple cider, apple butter, and fresh ginger. Shake it all up to infuse everything with that spicy ginger. Strain into your favorite Mule mug and top off with ginger beer. The ginger beer is KEY. To me, it’s what makes a really good Moscow Mule.

Since I didn’t love the sound of grapefruit juice with apple, I swapped in fresh lime juice. Not traditional, but oh SO good. Other than that, this is your classic Moscow Mule with the addition of apple butter, cider, and fresh ginger – for a double ginger apple Moscow Mule.

With Thanksgiving ahead of us, I am already planning out my holiday cocktails. This one is on my list. To make this easy for everyone, I gave you recipes for both the single drink and the pitcher version…which can easily be doubled if needed.

Tip? Keep jars of apple butter, cider, ginger beer, and an assortment of alcohol on hand during the holidays. You never know when you’re going to need to mix up a cocktail. Especially this year, you know? Yes, cocktails are most likely needed.

Hope you all enjoy and have a great Saturday! See ya tomorrow for another Sunday post of Nine Favorite Things!

This was the bride’s choice cocktail we served at our daughter’s wedding in October and it was very popular! A great fall mule!

  2. I sent a picture of a cocktail to my daughter asking her thoughts for a signature cocktail for a Bunco party I was having. Her response was nah, have you looked at Half Baked Harvest? And next she sent a link to your Apple Moscow Mule. All I can say is it was a huge hit, everyone loved them and I will be making them again. Bummed I didn’t take a photo, however will send next time I make them. Thank you Tieghan and for all of your wonderful cookbooks and inspiration 🤗

Wonderful!! I love to hear that this recipe was a hit, thanks for giving it a try! Have a great weekend:)

    2. This looks so good! I have a question: since the recipe calls for apple cider, and my store labels both spiced and non-spiced juice as “cider,” which one does this recipe refer to? Thanks!

      1. If I make the punch version several hours before my party, it sounds like I’ll have bits of ginger floating in my drinks when I go to pour them. Not sure how that’ll be?
